The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

So far the only place I've noticed a bit of slowdown is in the area where you fight Boom Bewm, and not even during the fight, but just panning around the area afterwards. If I look toward Liar's Berg I get some slowdown...maybe due to "Very High" view distance? Not sure, but it seems like more occlusion culling should be going on.

Just picked this up tonight. Pretty sweet game so far. I'm only lvl 7 at the moment. Anything I should be aware of? finally starting to figure out the whole inventory thing.

Iv'e been playing this game for a wee bit with hybrid physx and every few seconds getting a bit of choppy play even at high FPS, tried Vsync on and off, limiting framerate med and high physx. Finally borrowed a nvidia 275 in place of my primary GFX and the game now plays smooth as, no stutter no slowdowns. I wonder if both of the drivers were causing issues when being used at the same time. I no its not much help but it might at least help out those withy choppy gameplay and physx.

Specs
Ci5 760 @3.5
8GB RAM
HD 6950 unlocked 2GB
physx 9800 GTX.

Bit disappointed with game security. I accidentally figured out how to dupe shit last night. I thought they were supposed to fix to these types exploits in order to make PVP somewhat legit this time around? The golden key exploit is a major over sight too. Overall I love the game but I am completely avoiding online co-op now since exploiters will ruin the game experience.

The cheating is unfortunate but unavoidable since everything is client side.

I don't party with random players so its not a big deal for me.

well the game was meant to be "fun", not a serious game so i can see why they left some of the stuff in.. some people have fun cheating and some don't. if you join a game where people are cheating just leave.

I'm still having some oddities I think. Like at one point I was fighting a boss, only a few characters in the area, framerate started dipping into the 40s and 50s. At one point after I killed the boss I stopped moving the mouse/looking around. Game was stuck at 50fps. It stayed like that until I moved around again, then it jumped back to 60.

Here's the thing, and I mentioned this before. When it drops down to 50ish, the game gets choppy. Now why would it get choppy/laggy if the framerate is still high?

dunno, can't say i've run into any of those issues with my 8800GT's. but they could have frame rate smoothing in the game which can cause stuff like that when your not moving but i haven't noticed it so can't say for sure.

I really don't understand why people would even want to use the golden key glitch. Half the fun of borderlands is loot. It's exciting to get cool new shit to try out. That doesn't exist in a game where someone just pulls all their super good loot out of a gold chest.

The two keys I was given is cool. I know there's something awesome in that chest, but I also know I have to use them wisely. If I had a ton of them, it wouldn't be exciting.

I did use one last night, and got some neat shit. I got an SMG that I really am not too fond of, but I also got a shotgun that just tears the shit out of everything. I'm saving my other key for when I near the end of the game.

Anyone get the reference during the 'Splinter Group' mission in the Dam's sewers? Did you find the hidden 'boss?' :)

I've mainly played co-op so far, but the few times I've logged in single player I've noticed that the items sold in the shops have considerably better stats in a single player game then when two people are playing.

Is this across the board or is it just a coincidence that this has happened both times I've logged by myself?

Was bored so I played some of the slot machines in Moxxxi's. 3 legs will get you a blue or a purple. I'm level 12 and got a rocket launcher that does 1700 damage and my regular rocket launcher did 580 and got a really bad ass SMG. Higher damage that anything I had plus elemental

Any one having issues connecting to friends in bl2. for the first day i couldnt connect to any one. then i went on the bl2 forums where some one said open some ports and disable uPNP, the latter seemed to help more than the ports. this fixed my issues for about a day but last night after playing with a friend for about 3 hours is started again. now i can only connect to people randomly but mostly i just get unable to connect.

I'm trying with a gunzerker and must confess to being less than impressed with the gameplay so far. The graphics are great, though. I'm at L5, having just killed Boom Bewm. Instead of piling in as a gunzerker should, I'm having to make heavy use of the sniper rifle, which is troublesome when the minions spawn behind you. I died a lot. I've only just got my first skill point and unlocked the gunzerk ability. Shouldn't I have had that ability straight off?

I think BL1 didn't give you your special class abilities until level 5 either, IIRC.

Hit level 19 while eating my breakfast before work this morning. Good fun.

Has anybody gotten anything out of tipping the barmaid (moxie)?

She gives you a decent purple corrosive SMG after tipping 10K. Not worth it unless you have money to waste.

because of all the kids blah blah blah. Both of my brothers and a couple of my friends have it for the Xbox 360. I want to play with them.

I wish we at least had the option for cross-platform play as I, too, have a fair number of friends playing on the 360.
I hate to say it, but the worst thing about online gaming on the 360 is the fact that everyone has a mic...since the system comes with one. On the PS3 and PC, they're optional so not every idiot has one and not everyone feels the urge to say something stupid every 10 seconds.

Yeah, the FXAA is not super great in this. I still notice a lot of aliasing, probably accentuated by the black outlines.

there is never any issue in wasting money in BLs since it is level based you do not collect it linearly, but exponentially. So you can blow it all and be back to where you were fairly fast. if it is a concern then expand your inventory slots to collect more loot.

Hit level 20 last night. Pretty sure I found some sort of Easter Egg...found a little campsite with a tent/bedroll and just a small money box. I opened it up, and Claptrap comes over the radio doing the "Double Rainbow" bit...it was pretty funny.

Have to say, so far I'm enjoying the plot. No matter if the ending sucks, there was much more work done here and it definitely adds to the game. Also, I was somewhat surprised by the lack of side quests "early"; however once you move along the main quest line there is a certain event that happens, and then BOOM, side quests all over the place.

First time Chiming in on this thread.

Put about 20 hours in the past few days hit level 16.

Issues / Complaints:

Connection issues. I spend minutes trying to figure it out then it would just work.....Then it would just not work......Then it would work.....Then it would not work.

I still get a bit of motion sickness like I did with the first one. Not as bad with FOV at 110 but still get it. Anyone have any tips for helping to reduce this...like maybe a way to stop it from zooming in and out when you run?

Obvious console controls.

Its hard to identify enemies unless they are moving because of the cell shaded graphics.

Pro / Raves:

This Game is Hilarious. Rarely does a game actually make me laugh. At most they make me think in my head yeah that was funny. But this I actually laugh outwardly.

Crazy fun multiplier.

Vehicles.

Good bosses.

Great Weapon system.

Simple.

Overall I'd say its 8/10.

I have two other minor complaints....The death animation...wtf...in BL1 you died, you got that tunnel screen and boom, alive and running.

Now you watch that stupid materialization thing which seems to take forever.

The black market...why did they need to have two types of currency? does the black market get used for anything but the ammo upgrades and such? quite annoying.

This is most certainly a lot harder than BL1

Loving it though.

Your are level 5 and complaining that your character isn't OP and didn't pawn a boss? wow.

Once you get around lvl10 and and some way better weapons than you start off with you won't feel so impotent (unless you skip most of the side missions and attempt to rescue roland). the gunzerker get stronger exponentially after a little while.

In borderlands 1 you didn't get your class ability right off the bat either.

I feel like I see healthier increase in difficulty in this game vs part one. Not earth shattering but nice.

What FOV are most people using for 1920x1080? I know it defaults to 90, but that almost seems like too much due to the "curve of the Earth" effect.

Playing 1920x1080 with 110 FOV. I do notice that things go a little "fisheye" when I run, but it doesn't really bother me.

I think I upped my FOV to 94 or 96 or something. Nothing too major. Default FOV seems a lot better in this anyway (original was what, 75 or lower?).

Granted I'm playing on my TV, but I went from 90 down to 86 and I like it more. The rounded edges on the screen make the high FOV's look weird to me.

1920x1200 with FOV of 90. Considering trying 95 or 100 for grins.

She gave me two purple weapons: Bad Touch and then Good Touch (this one took like 30K in tips). She also provides some decent dialog tidbits along the way.

Yeah I played around with the settings and 96 at 1080p seems to be the sweet spot.

Borderlands 1's was the default UE3 FoV which is 70. Kind of ridiculous.
