The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

Having fun. Got to some gas station with a group of random people on voice chat that had a slot machine you could play for $167. We started taking pulls on it, dropped a couple items so everyone was really close to pick up the items first. Well, someone pulled it and it dropped a live grenade. We were all so focused on the loot, we looked down, wondered WTF then we all died except the gunzerker. The rofl's on voice comms were hilarious.

One of the first release day games to work straight out of the box with my crossfire setup in pretty much EVER. I mean ZERO tweaking. It just worked. I cannot stress this enough how much of a relief that is.

For anyone who preordered on Amazon, did you get more than one copy? I got 2 copies but only one promotional code. I haven't installed yet, so does anyone know if that code will work for both copies or just one?

I'm hoping I won't have to waltz with amazon if it's just for one copy.

Amazon's promo code terms stated only one per customer, IIRC.

Had a panic attack last night. I kept getting a crazy mouselook stutter and couldn't find a fix...only to discover my wife's wireless internet streaming upstairs was screwing with my wireless mouse signal.
Having a blast so far. More of the same, but I have no problem with that at all.

How is the level/loot scaling in the game? I loved the first one with all the xpacks but it annoyed me that if I did all the quests I was over leveled the entire game which made it less of a challenge and more of a ROFLStomp to get the best gun.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Crossfire AND EyeFinity work right out of the box.
The HUD is even centered for a change which is really a nice treat.

The controls are fine, the GUI inventory shuffle is a little difficult, I guess I'm too used to DeusEx's.

Game runs smooth and is fun so far.....more of the same, but it's still loads of fun.

Cudos to Gearbox. Had trouble with the Steam servers last night, had to wait about 30 minutes for traffic to finish my Steam Updates, etc......ended up switching server locations and had no problems.

I'm still trying to get used to the inventory, but I think it's just a learning curve.
One thing I think is amazing is how you can tweak the HUD positioning, FOV, scaling, etc. straight out of a single menu. You see the effect right on your screen as you make adjustments. The little stuff is what makes the difference. The out of the box customizations for the game might be the best we've had in years...maybe even ever.

Well after the beating many of us gave them over the incredibly horrible consolization of the original, it's nice that they listened and did something about it instead of just tossing it out there again and saying "deal with it." They get some kudos from me for that, though I'm still bitter over the full system crashes many of us endured for over a half a year from release, only to be told it was obviously our hardware at fault by a gearbox employee.

Yeah I'm still getting used to it as well - I think it's a bit clunkier than it needs to be, but given all the other improvements they made I'm overall a very happy camper with Borderlands 2 :)

I have died in BL2, a lot. I agree in the first game, especially in Playthrough 2(.5) it was very easy to be massively overleveled. Then I was shocked in 2.5 when enemies scaled and I actually had to try.

Some (I think optional) bosses have been multiple-try affairs.

I found this to be the case as well, unless you skipped a few side quests here and there, even the main story quests started to become "trivial" which got a bit boring.

It's hard to say right now, I'm a level 11 I think, and am doing all the side quests I've been finding. I haven't really done a main quest in awhile so I can't speak to this yet.

Is it not possible to gib people or critters anymore? My favorite part about BL1 was using a ridiculously powerful 2 shot revolver or a sniper rifle and blowing the heads off (or entire body) of my enemies. Now, I cap em right in the dome with a critical hit, blood flies everywhere, yet when I walk up to them they're completely intact and the blood jello has faded away. Is this a result of their move to PhysX?

You sure about that? I bought 3 copies in total. 2 separate orders, The copy that came alone has a code. I'm still just one customer. So, 3 games 2 codes.

Did you buy one of them with 1-click? It seems from the terms and conditions that the limits don't apply to 1-click orders...

I feel like it must be a bug...you see massive gibs flying about but no dismemberment. It looks really silly. I can't imagine that's how they designed the game.

Anyone else getting "micro"-stutter with a 6xx card? It's not super prevalent but it's annoying enough.

There's a big thread on the Gearbox forums about this problem. A lot of reports of no dismemberment, but there are a few reports that it is actually working properly for some people, as well as a couple screenshots of proof. There is some confusion as to whether it was intentional or not, but general consensus is that it's a bug of some sort because it doesn't affect everyone.

Maybe I should try to disable PhysX and see if that fixes the problem, but I'm not holding out any hope. I'm level 12 and have a pretty badass explosive shotgun that could tear apart most bandits in a single shot or two. There is a massive amount of blood and gore, yet the body is 100% intact. Only time I can think of any instance where there should have 100% been dismemberment is sometimes the suicide psychos will blow themselves to bits, but their body completely disappears and there's nothing left but a puddle of blood and a few bloody bits, no body parts at all. Same thing with sniper headshots, their head explodes in a fountain of bloody spurts and bits of gore, yet their head isn't actually gone.

There also doesn't seem to be ragdoll effects on the bandit corpses as they die, it's all static animations basically, even though ragdolls and bloody dismemberment was touted as a big feature of BL2 IIRC. Only time I've noticed ragdolls is with the creature corpses.

Heck, those creatures that hurl the chunks or rocks at you, I apparently blew one of their legs clean off because it was still alive and slowly pulling itself towards me with it's front legs, yet it still had it's legs.

if this is correct i have defective parts.

under really intense battles my fps dropped to 30 with a single gtx 670 and a stock i52500k

do all early guns suck in terms of aiming down the sights?...it's hard for me to aim correctly in the early going...hopefully later guns will improve the aiming aspect

do you have the 306.23 drivers?

yeah I was worried too but its just the beginning that's like that.

Yeah, don't forget to trade in your badass points too, it's a lot like the old weapons experience mechanic.

Not a very apples to apples comparison. His CPU is clocked WAY higher than yours.

I made the mistake on a few of mine and selected bonuses that I didn't already have active. It looks like you only get 5 active at once, so if you select one that's not on your list, something gets lost.

yes

in borderlands 2 especially my CPU should not be limiting my GPU at all... even at stock
it could as for as absolute minimums go but 30 fps does sound too low if that happens regularly. the lowest I saw was 32 but it could have gone lower than that for me. of course my issue is that my gpu is too slow for those settings but I was just testing it out.

There's something seriously fucked with your rig haha, my 670 is running like butter, and not just this game...

When me and my scoped mashers have a reunion soon....good times...good times...

check the guns accuracy rating?

wha? badass points do something? hell I just figured out Eridium last nite. I wonder if this game's just too deep for me :p

Anyone else experiencing lag and low frame rate with multiplayer? I played with one friend last nite and it was almost a slide show.

Suggestions: Video settings? Server issues? Connection problems? (my friend has a notoriously inconsistant internet)

you use badass points to apply account wide bonuses like +1% gun damage

Huh, so looks like that isn't true and all of the ones you select are always active. For some reason, only 5 are showing up on my list regardless of how many I choose.

Haven't got this yet. What's the deal with not enough ammo? The first game spammed more ammo at you than you could ever hope to fire off...

Yeah, I saw that after reading your post. My fault for not reading the terms I guess. Doesn't sting any less though. Seems I'm screwed. I'll give the codes to my Dad and Brother, and the guy who paid (me) gets jack lol.

Ammo is shared when you pick it up amongst party members and it just seems like bullets are used up more frequently. That said, just buy ammo regularly, I havent had too bad of a problem. Playing til level 9 last night with 3 friends.

Shared ammo? That's pretty cool actually. The GF and I were playing the first BL the other day and ammo was kind of a problem there as well. I was wishing I could drop ammo for her and vice versa.

at low levels, siren isn't much. her ability is pretty limited in use because it just stops a single enemy for a short while. So far i've more issues with keeping ammo supplies up and being heavily annoyed by the excruciatingly slow reload times.

i think like the first BL, the siren will be one of the tougher charaters to use.
I haven't had any issues with load times, but I am running the game off a Corsair Neutron SSD. My other friends load in a few seconds behind me though, nothing crazy...

I thought he was talking about the gun reload times.

Sometimes I have ammo trouble but is because of tough badass enemies. Aim for the head for critical hits. I also keep a few different weapon types. My gunzerk right now has a sniper rifle, assault rifle, and a pistol. I try not to use one weapon more then the others to keep the ammo levels even. Once I unlock the 4th weapon slot I will probably add a shotgun.
