The Nintendo Switch 2 Thread

? I guess the name checks out.
What kind of name? It doesn't appeal to me at all and I can only invent flaws. And they don't want to go back to the NES and SNES era, when there was only a TV version and a Gameboy as a portable console, and when games were made separately for one TV version and another portable version, that they weren't the same.
On the switch 2, the game is the same on both the portable device and the TV, except what looks bigger on the TV?
Is this the same situation with the switch 1 vulgaris and oled and switch 1 lite games?

yup, strange is right ;)
i feel ya on the magnet thing, should be slides to keep them secured.

Slides can break. 🤷

I'm hopeful that this setup is sturdy enough since the press hasn't seemed to mention issues with it. I'm equally cautious about it though, and I'll be waiting out a little bit to see if issues come up before buying one myself.

I think he's spot on to a point, but like "Nintendo doesn't care about graphics" that's only since the Wii. Nintendo's always been a fan of gimmicks, but they've had successful evolutionary systems in the past.
A little bit of me always wants this thing to fail so we might get their games on better hardware, but I think it'll take more than 1 bomb to do that. The WiiU proved that much.

Hmm, may try and pick one up for wife/kids Xmas gift.

Side note is that I'm hoping NVIDIA soon releases an updated/new Shield TV now because of the new CPU/GPU in the Switch 2.

Well, the pre-order experience was more harrowing than I'd like (lots of bots and busted websites) but I managed to get the Mario Kart bundle model from Target last night. I'm gonna take 6/6 off now.

Picked up the bundle and Donkey Kong game from Best Buy last night

Christmas gift for my favor nephew—grabbed it now because I still have PTSD from the Xbox Series X launch. Not about to enter the holiday Hunger Games again this year after the mess the xbox series x and PS5 launch was. I tried Target’s site but it was a complete disaster—checkout kept crashing, they double charge my cc without sending an invoice or any confirmation lol. Was lucky that Best Buy was late opening up pre-orders and was able to get on the queue list, queue took about an hour or so but I finally got it around 11 PM.

Target.com was definitely a mess. I got a decline notice and a fraud warning from American Express after trying to checkout for like 30 minutes. I gave up and went back an hour later (after stock was supposedly gone) and it mysteriously went through.
BB's online queue system has never worked for me (or a lot of people, apparently) and this time was no different.
Wal-Mart was and apparently still is a good option, though. I have a couple friends that have gotten 'em there even as recently as an hour ago.

nephew?! holy shit/wtf. we were stoked to get a 20 from an aunt or uncle...

Long story short, his dad was never in the picture. He was born around the time I was starting university, for a while I was the one changing diapers, feeding him and playing with him. I’ve been passing down all my old tech (when i upgrade) to him and always make sure he gets the latest game systems or whatever he needs.

Canadian sites were a shit show this morning as well but managed to pre-order the mario kart bundle from bestbuy. Very excited for it tbh, my switch 1 gets way more use than my Xbox or ps5.

Yeah. I'm excited to finish my backlog of games that will run more buttery smooth on the Switch 2.

I camp out for hour to get a Wii for my nephews for Christmas the year it came out. Both are worthless little ungrateful adults now.
My mother almost bludgeoned a woman at Walmart to get me a PS3 for Christmas. 💕

I was in a borderline riot for the PS2 release, but had 0 issue just ordering the next few systems online except the Wii. I can't recall what the deal was with it, but I remember going to brick and mortar stores looking for it for some reason. We had a random blizzard that year and I lived next to a Wal-Mart at the time. I shuffled through the snow to grab some groceries and was surprised that they had a case full of 'em but no other customers in the store.

Closest I can get is in my cart but it's sold out when I go to checkout. Yay. Reminds me why I don't usually do launches. I remember PS5 and Xbox 360 being bad. For the amount of bitching on the internet about the price before the preorder launched made me underestimate the demand. Oh well.

Mario Kart World does not have the key card banner on it.

I assume these games will work like Switch games. Not tied to your account and sellable. Generally I prefer physical cartridges for Nintendo games as they hold their value decently well. If they are locked to one account, that would render them largely pointless IMO.

GameStop requires you to preorder in store, so you would probably have better luck there. I preordered my PS4 from them more than a month after those went live and picked it up on launch night.

Amazon is also doing a lottery system that seems to be working pretty well. Sign up for a invite and they will email you if you get chosen, had 2 friends both get one that way (one didn't sign up till 11pm and had the invite at 2am).

That's the internet for ya. Negative voices are 100x louder about literally everything, so it's hard to tell how most people feel. At least in the world of gaming, my general rule is to assume that the more ranting neckbeard videos there are for something, the more most people really want/like it.

Na, it's just flippers.

there are already ebay posts for consoles/kits at $1-4K...
i can get the switch and 36 games(!?) for a low low price of $6K CAN!!

This is how it was for us too! maybe only a $5 :D

We did get my nephew couple years ago an Xbox because the PS5's were not where to be found and manage to snag the Xbox quickly when it came in stock.

Just got a Mario Bundle using the Walmart save to cart then move trick when it showed available.

For a buddy who is trying to get one for one of his sons for graduation.

So did the initial Nintendo preorders still count for anything before they stopped? I got in on that since I meet their criteria. Or do we have to reapply when they reopen again?

Another new feature for the Switch 2, which concerns the USA, is a change to the terms of use. If you use pirated or modified games, Nintendo can remotely disable your console. And you have to agree to this after turning on the console for the first time. Another thing is that buyers in the US are no longer allowed to sue Nintendo collectively, they will be able to file a lawsuit, but only individually.

I assume they also require arbitration, but the only ones who usually win in collective suits are the lawyers anyway so 🤷; however, it will keep issues like joycon drift from getting resolved because the suits will cost too much for any consumer to try and fight one by one.
