How about we do a 3 way trade?

    - I send 2x4gb DDR3 kit to ccityinstaller

    - ccittyinstaller sends his 2x2GB DDR3 kit to 404 (I am assuming 2GB modules will be okay too)

    - 404 sends me the 1155 celeron processor

Anyone have any 1150 board lying around? Need to test a couple sandy chips.

If you have an sff power supply, you can get some dell/hp/lenovo motherboards for almost the price of just shipping:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Optip...807057?hash=item3b1768af51:g:lrAAAOSw2VFa8NlU
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Prodesk...:J8QAAOSwp7tacPiF:sc:USPSPriority!35613!US!-1
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Thi...892483?hash=item4420224343:g:YG8AAOSwkkNbGu1R

Otherwise, here's a Supermicro board that's going for cheap because a case fan clip broke (won't affect the cpu testing you're trying to do):
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Supermicro...519437?hash=item2f218f8f8d:g:9nIAAOSwqj9bjuwF

Hope this helps if someone doesn't have what you need. (y)

Depends on which model Optiplex. I have an Optiplex 3010 motherboard I used for testing CPUs and it just complains that fans and the FP header board are missing and requires you to press a key to acknowledge the errors and continue booting.

You can use a normal PWM fan if you snip the plastic tab off, BUT be sure that you re-wire the fan connector because the pinout is proprietary. If you just plug a PWM fan in, you're going to fry it.

And a simple swap of pins 1 & 3 on a standard fan connector to have it work with the Dell specs:
    http://pinouts.ru/Motherboard/dell_5pin_4pin.shtml

Or another ~$7 shipped to just have a heatsink and fan ready to plug in:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-De...529369?hash=item544c4f7819:g:IE4AAOSwNFVZgN5~
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Optip...436941&hash=item41ec2c4add:g:TQQAAOSw51JbbcBM

I prefer the thicker heatsink as you can use it with 95w processors if you floor the fan by removing the pwm pin.

The one quoted is a 9010 SFF board. I used to personally have a couple 9010 systems and a previous employer all of our front office machines were 9010. They will not post without the fan plugged in at all. I used one of them for testing CPUs as well and would simply plug the SFF heatsink into the connector and run a molex fan adapter off the PSU to run a stand intel HSF. Honestly, if you're talking about free you can probably buy a whole 9010, sell the CPU, memory, HDD and make a profit while still having a barebones system to test CPU with. On the other hand as mentioned, it's only $20 to have a motherboard and HSF. If you're testing a decent amount of CPU it'll pay for itself for having it on hand versus the time you'd have to pull a system apart and reassemble it to test multiple CPU.

I'm trying to test out a couple of AIO with Haswell i5 so I'll check those out. Want to make sure the chip works but maybe i'll just try to find the mobo for the AIO and see if they are cheap enough.

    Sorry you're right! meant Haswell.

This might be a strange request, does anyone have those anti static bags used to protect electronics? I hate shipping items without these anti static bags. Looking for motherboard sized ones as well as other sizes. Will pay for shipping of course.

http://www.vcfed.org/forum/forum.php is your friend. Lots of great people there that want vintage stuff, but depending on how old it is, it may not be 'old' enough.

You can also always just give it away if it becomes too much of a burden as there are some people (like me) who will cover shipping for things that needs a good new home. :) The caveat is that shipping complete computers is pretty tough to do in one-piece unless its disassembled. :(

Its BIG KAK's DISCOUNT VIRTUAL REALITY SHACK!
We have all types colors and models as long as you want the green ST ones!

Purchased for a fantastic deal for the peeps who have treated me so well in the past.
Be aware that although these are free, they are "free" in way actual shipping will be around 4$ to anywhere in the USA.
For now there will be a limit of 4 per person and anyone who wants some will have to wait for me to figure out the logistics of doing this. (I have around 500 of these)

If it's anything newer than a Pentium 3, you aren't going to find much interest on VCFed forums. Sometimes Athlons and Pentium 4s sell. List anything newer than a Pentium 3 in the off topic marketplace at the bottom of the forum and anything older in the vintage items for sale.

Did anything ever become of those two machines I shipped you, or did they end up in the trash?

Thank you for the additional feedback on VCF. It's great to know those specifics. (y)

No way will they ever hit the trash! (y) I disassembled the one where the heatsink hit the chipset heatsink to test all the components and the mb before trying them all together, but I haven't had a chance to test them yet. I've also acquired ram, cpu, and gpu upgrades for it. The second one is still waiting to be disassembled. I think it might still boot without disassembly, but I don't want to risk if there is something metal between the mb and case that can short it. I've got the same ram, cpu, and gpu upgrades ready for it too. Even though the cases are banged up, I'll probably still put the completed systems in them since they'll basically be stationary once put to work. I really appreciate the effort you took to send me those. They'll probably be used to replace my mom and dad's p4s as another one aged as old as his just blew its caps during a power outage when the AC was off but the system was still running on a UPS. :( Another system that will need some bench time...

Well that's something at least. Most of the machines I give away either end up in the trash, destroyed or stolen.

Very rarely, they'll be like lassie and come home, but that usually takes years. I had one system come back to me 3 times.

Looking for a few sticks of 1gb DDR3 and basic hard drives 80gb and up.

That's sad to hear about the trashed/destroyed or stolen. :( Most anything I get stays with me until the end of its useful life and then I try to fix or repurpose it. I haven't yet had enough e-waste to even think about throwing anything away yet. :)

These aren't a bad deal if you're not opposed to purchasing some as a single kit could outfit more than one machine depending on how much ram each machine needs:

Haven't heard of VCFed or have long forgotten about it.

OCN and Vogons rock newer stuff up to 939 and 775. my current desktop being 775 P5E3 deluxes but, if i don't get the kinks worked out with this ram it's gonna get Rynzed

    Some 939 boards
    DDR1 ECCs 2gbs and maybe 4GBs, 1 set installed in one of 939 boards (8gb ddr1 usable)
    SD133 64mbs to 256mbs
    Pentium 4 boards
    socket A board
    slot 1 board
    Asus socket 479 / pentium m conversion w/ Pentium M
    DDR 1 non ECC
butt tonne of AGP cards maybe a few PCI and PCIes
    CPUs socket 7 to 775
    2x P5E3 deluxes
Pile of Mac mini G4s w/ Power adapters
    Asus Elan Vital T10Ab cases
NIB Soyo mobo ISA slot type board
NIB sound blaster, ISA slot ?
Some NEW? 72 pin ram sticks? EDO?
Wonder in the Pentium 4 laptop w/ floppy drive and 32mb and 64 mb fx5200 is worth a hoot for any retro gaming?

feel like i'm forgetting some stuff. was hoping i could get rid of it all in for sale thread but, VOGONS forum owner/mods can be hard asses. This place might be place to sell it off for the price of shipping minus a few gems. it would be nice if it could go to some good homes or wind up in some youtube videos.
