If you have an sff power supply, you can get some dell/hp/lenovo motherboards for almost the price of just shipping:Anyone have any 1150 board lying around? Need to test a couple sandy chips.

Free stuff + shipping:
4x 1GB PC2 4200R-444-11-H0 (FD-DIMMS)
2x 1GB PC2-5300S-555-12 SODIMMS
1x 4GB PC3-10600S-09-11-F3 SODIMM
Looking for a 775 CPU or 2. I have 3 mobo's that span the range of 775 chipsets that need testing. Also a P4 Prescott /s478 if someone has one.
Oooo, that would be much better--here's an 1155 for <$12 shipped:I think you mean LGA1155. LGA1150 is Haswell/Broadwell.

As a note, those optiplex boards will not post without the CPU fan plugged in. It is one of the larger style, not traditional 4 pin / PWM ones we're used to on enthusiast boards.
Depends on which model Optiplex. I have an Optiplex 3010 motherboard I used for testing CPUs and it just complains that fans and the FP header board are missing and requires you to press a key to acknowledge the errors and continue booting.
You can use a normal PWM fan if you snip the plastic tab off, BUT be sure that you re-wire the fan connector because the pinout is proprietary. If you just plug a PWM fan in, you're going to fry it.

Otherwise, here's a Supermicro board that's going for cheap because a case fan clip broke (won't affect the cpu testing you're trying to do):

Hope this helps if someone doesn't have what you need.

go to your local shop and ask for some. they should have a bunch just hangin around and should be free. This might be a strange request, does anyone have those anti static bags used to protect electronics? I hate shipping items without these anti static bags. Looking for motherboard sized ones as well as other sizes. Will pay for shipping of course.
I always need those motherbosrd ones too. Good luck im sure someone has some! This might be a strange request, does anyone have those anti static bags used to protect electronics? http://www.vcfed.org/forum/forum.php is your friend. Lots of great people there that want vintage stuff, but depending on how old it is, it may not be 'old' enough.i need a way to dump all of my retro legacy gear to good homes but, VOGONS expressly forbids any exchange of items what so ever or discussion there of.

You can also always just give it away if it becomes too much of a burden as there are some people (like me) who will cover shipping for things that needs a good new home. The caveat is that shipping complete computers is pretty tough to do in one-piece unless its disassembled.
Thank you for the additional feedback on VCF. It's great to know those specifics. If it's anything newer than a Pentium 3, you aren't going to find much interest on VCFed forums. Sometimes Athlons and Pentium 4s sell. List anything newer than a Pentium 3 in the off topic marketplace at the bottom of the forum and anything older in the vintage items for sale.
Did anything ever become of those two machines I shipped you, or did they end up in the trash?
No way will they ever hit the trash! I disassembled the one where the heatsink hit the chipset heatsink to test all the components and the mb before trying them all together, but I haven't had a chance to test them yet. I've also acquired ram, cpu, and gpu upgrades for it. The second one is still waiting to be disassembled.
I thought c2d was ddr2, correct me if I'm wrong.was given a few C2D machines that were gutted of their ram and drives. Looking to get these going as simple emulation machines.
Looking for a few sticks of 1gb DDR3 and basic hard drives 80gb and up.
I might have some DDR3 for you. Will check later today.

That's sad to hear about the trashed/destroyed or stolen. Most anything I get stays with me until the end of its useful life and then I try to fix or repurpose it. I haven't yet had enough e-waste to even think about throwing anything away yet.Well that's something at least. Most of the machines I give away either end up in the trash, destroyed or stolen.
Very rarely, they'll be like lassie and come home, but that usually takes years. I had one system come back to me 3 times.
These aren't a bad deal if you're not opposed to purchasing some as a single kit could outfit more than one machine depending on how much ram each machine needs:was given a few C2D machines that were gutted of their ram and drives. Looking to get these going as simple emulation machines.

feel like i'm forgetting some stuff. was hoping i could get rid of it all in for sale thread but, VOGONS forum owner/mods can be hard asses. This place might be place to sell it off for the price of shipping minus a few gems. it would be nice if it could go to some good homes or wind up in some youtube videos.
Haven't heard of VCFed or have long forgotten about it.
OCN and Vogons rock newer stuff up to 939 and 775. my current desktop being 775 P5E3 deluxes but, if i don't get the kinks worked out with this ram it's gonna get Rynzed
......
.
anybody have any old DDR2 2GB modules (looking for 4) to upgrade an old Dell Vostro 400?
