The First Descendant

Ok this Nexon thing not sure if it's a new publisher but it's similar to the Finals area shooter. Also published by Nexon but the Finals is mainly first person.

i got in on the play test. it was decent, if youre into mmo shooters. i preferred the single player bits i did.

This post gives me Destiny 2 flashbacks. I'll likely pass if that's the kind of thing we are getting.

I know you should do work you're proud of...

but WTF is up with people thinking their obscure, unknown little game is so important you need a 'Release Date Reveal' trailer. Like, not a "Trailer that will tell you the release date" but a "Trailer for the event that is 'the release date reveal'" like dude, nobody is that excited for this game. It looks cool, it will probably be fun but I doubt there's a single mega-fan for this game with merch hanging on the walls and 10 pre-orders in-hand who just wet their pants in anticipation....

Every trailer for this game has millions of views across its own channel and game news channels.

Very much looking forward to this one. Going to see how far I can go without spending a cent. Don't care about cosmetics at all. I can't imagine the grind being worse than TD2 at launch.

Live on the 30th guess there is Micro Transactions but people seem to like it.

I played the intro, it feels like...literally every other game of this type?

It really strikes me as another Destiny 2 clone. So I'm not surprised.

I honestly like this a lot more than Destiny 2 or Warframe imho. Sure its P2W, but its not like there is PVP or any top list for guilds/clans etc. Plus everything can be earned in game with lots of lots of grinding.

Shit at least it isn't another Anthem LOL.

The weapon and suit mechanics are very Warframe with the mod capacity, cost per mod, and being able to buy a thing that almost, but not quite doubles the capacity of a gun or your armor. Weapons level up, but it's by class, so if you get a better version of the same named weapon, it's covered. Plays pretty well, movement is decently fast, grapple hook works well. Running at 1080 DLAA with everything maxed including Ray Tracing) on a Ryzen 5800X @ 4.5 and a RTX 3090, stable at 60 FPS. I might try reducing options to get it to 120. Occasional pop-in/resolution issues with DLSS/DLAA, but that's more a UE5 issue because it's so heavy that it basically has to use upscaling of some sort to stay stable.

Only complaint so far is lip sync because the lips are animated to the original Korean audio, not the English. Maybe they'll go back and add different lip sync sets for the different languages, but it won't be the end of things if they don't.

I appreciate that it's up to 4 player teams, biggest downside of Remnant, Destiny, and a couple other games I play with the wife and others is that they're capped at 3 so we have to sort of schedule play time.

Not sure how I feel about it. Movement is better than what I remember Destiny being, but not finding the loot interesting.

This is nothing like Destiny. Another planet. Some weird combination of Warframe and Outriders.

I just compared the movement. I barely touched Destiny since it felt like you walked everywhere. Don't think I have ever even heard of Outriders. Warframe wasn't for me at all but seems to fit more what this game is going for which means I probably won't get much more out of it.

I know, I haven't played in 2 years but prior to stopping I have about 4000 hours in Destiny 2. I've been toying with this game for the last couple days and apart from some minor story similarities and being a looter shooter the movement and everything else is massively different. That's a VERY smooth and polished FPS, this is a very jank 3rd person shooter.

There are a lot of issues with GFX settings and implementation in this, I know it's a free game but still....

Native AA (whether FSR or DLAA doesn't matter) with Frame Gen + RT Ultra is the only method to get clean and accurate visuals. All other modes offer broken reflections/shadows/shimmering/garbling/artefacts.

Here's my take:

Guess I won't be using RT.
