The Elder Scrolls Online

Sooo, can we get a show of hands who's actually going be playing at launch?

*raises hand and waits for the other 2-3 people*

Decided not to partake, when I may as well just pick up WoW again in a few months when expansion hits. The ol' familiar territory is more appealing. Did I add you on Steam yet? I can't remember shit.

Indeed. We talked for a sec in steam I think, haha.

I'll be diving in on the 30th.

Mainly because I enjoyed the exploration in the beta and found some good things off the beaten path, plus the PVP I am looking forward to.

Plus there really isn't much else to play (until Dark Souls 2) an dI haven't played an mmo since Guild Wars 2.

I am likely going as a Redguard in the Ebonheart pact, going for a two handed sword using sorcerer with medium armor, focusing on being a melee fighter with the sorcerer skills supporting it.

Think of the Thane class from DAOC (IE Thor).

I'll be in when the servers open on Sunday morning. I haven't decided on DC or AD yet. Feel free to add me....@Tolsys .

Can someone clear up about guilds/alliances?

I know you can join up to five guilds, and any alliance can be mixed in with the guild (IE you can have EBonheart pact and Daggerfall in the same guild).

However when your guild is fighting in Cyrodiil will you still be fighting for your alliance or will the guild faction overide it or what?

I'll be playing but nowhere near as excited as I was. DAOC-like RVR is the only reason I'll be playing. Hoping that Archeage/EQN/Camelot Unchained turn out well ;).

I get why a lot are holding off, though.

Your guild's alliance means what alliances can fight for that guild in any Cyrodiil campaign. Your personal alliance is not overrided by that, but you can't go play for an enemy alliance in your guild's selected alliance/campaign as far as I know.

I am, played about 4 hours or so.

I have to say , Zenimax has set the STANDARD for how smooth a launch an mmo should go.

They opened it up an hour early and there has been (to my knowledge) no server issues, no crashes, queue time, etc.

Virtually every mmo I have ever played launch day was a huge headache, constnat lag, server down, queue times, etc, but not for this one.

Feel free to hit me up in game, character name is Asterion Orion.

Been reading today that the launch was not so rosy as everyone said it was. Lots of bugs still. I'll be waiting a little longer.

I'll probably wait for it to go F2P. A few of the sites have been comparing the graphics of certain areas to vanilla Skyrim and they're pretty horrendous in ESO.

That was the first I've heard of it. My buddies have been playing for a while now and they've all had no complaints. Said the XP nerfs weren't as bad as said. Kinda getting an itchy finger, might pick it up after all.

Going to second this, best mmo launch I've had the pleasure of playing. The game has its faults but I'm really enjoying it

Do the official forums not work yet?

I go there from the main elderscrollsonline page (Where I'm logged in), it asks me to login to post or anything, I type in my info (correctly) and it says no account with that name exist.

I try to "sign" up and it asks for an invitation code...

It's like it's stuck on the BETA forums or something.

edit - nm, click on reset password and now it works for some strange reason.

Also is there a way to see the quests you've completed? Can't seem to find that anywhere.

Same, this was the smoothest launch I have participated in. I had one quest go south and had to abandon and restart. I think the biggest issue was the shear number of players running around purging mobs from areas.

I played from 7:30am to about 9 pm with a few breaks and did not see a single server issue. I think the biggest issue was phasing/instancing when grouped not always putting everyone in the same instance.

I played pretty much all day yesterday, from server open around 6:30am. Got to level 12. This was a very smooth launch.

Quest bugs were a problem in beta, but I was able to finish all my quests this time around. I did the entire noobie island (AD side) and the bottom 2/3rds of the AD island. During the betas a few quests would screw up, have mobs not spawn, etc, but it seemed to be working this time around.

Addons still worked for the most part - no enemy cast bar, but floating combat text and self/target bars with numbers and percents all work.

I'll add you when I start on Tuesday.

Played this damn near all day yesterday. Everything was very stable for a day 1 mmo launch. Had to re-log a couple times and I still can't complete the damn frog racing quest.

My merry band of adventurers were 12, 11, 11, and 8 and we finished the first AD dungeon. We were slightly under leveled but it was the most challenging and fun experience I've had in a game in a long time.

If anyone needs a guild or wants to be my blacksmithing buddy look me up. Name is AudioCow.

My friend and I got up to level 10, so we could check out the PvP. Honestly, I had more fun than I thought I would. The world is gorgeous, it runs well, and I'm not kidding when I say this is BY FAR the SMOOTHEST mmo launch I've ever been a part of (this is my 5th or 6th one I believe). A few quests need to be fixed, but actually being able to play without long queues or constant server crashes is a nice change.

Played nearly all day yesterday as well, think I had 2 crashes in total, no que - no lag except in Cyrodill once when a billion people were on screen - seemed reasonable. I had 3 quests get stuck, logged in this morning and they were fine.. except for the damn frog race like AudioCow.

Managed to get to lvl 11, woulda kept playing longer if I didn't have to get up for work.

I'll send you a friend request, I need a blacksmithing partner.

Picked up the game unexpectedly. Game is very fun so far, very smooth launch.

Very fun game, the combat is very great. Quests are great. Looking forward to trying the PVP.

Only issue I have had is the horse mount/dismount bug.

I'm very looking forward to playing this very game on this very Tuesday.

A few things..

1. Anyone else getting screen tearing?
2. Anyones FPS kinda, meh? I turned AA off since I'm in 1440p and shadows down to medium and the FPS isn't horrible, but not great either. Anyone know the command to show FPS?
3. What class should I have chosen to use a bow? I picked a nightblade since it seemed the closes to stealth..

I haven't noticed any screen tearing, but definitely some FPS hiccups. It kind of remind me of the AOC memory leaks, because if I just leave the game idle at the character select screen, after maybe 30min the entire game gets extremely sluggish.

As far as an archer, I have found Sorcerers and Dragon Knights to be the best with the bow. Sorcs have Surge and great escape spells/CC. DKs have the skills to make you tough to beat down in melee range and a good array of roots and CC. I prefer the DK with a bow, but definitely give these two classes a try to about level 5.

Has anyone been able to determine if the Imperial Edition and PreOrder/Explorer pack bonuses are given to every character? Or only to one of them? I saw a notification that said something to the effect of "before you delete a character with Imperial or Explorer bonuses, dump them in the bank so other characters can get them!", so I'm a bit worried. I really don't want to have to say... only have access to my Imperial horse on one character and then have to mail it to another to use it on that one!

You have access to the horse on every character (just go to the stables and buy it for 1g). Everything else, I believe, has to be traded through the bank.

Do not delete the maps. Use them then put back into the bank. It is a ridiculous requirement. If you unsure of what character you want don't upgrade their bags instead upgrade your bank slots since your bank stays the same between characters.

Ill mess with vsync in nvidia control panel.

Bah, alright i'll start over with a Dragon Knight!

I haven't noticed any screen tearing or fps issues.

That being said I am running 1080p so take that with a grain of salt. I did notice that the visual difference between ultra shadow and high is minimal but the performance hit is massive. So I am runninng everything maxed but shadows on high and keep a pretty consistent 60fps.

The command to add the fps counter is /fps.

Can't help with the bow question but I have heard Dragonknights making good bow builds as well.

We do make great bow builds but nightblades are excellent time archers as well. However my DO is pretty damn fun with a bow...from psizerker over on the tamriel founders forums
Just from personal experience, the best Archer I was able to build was a Dragonknight. Just as with your racial issues, the “Best” choice isn’t always the obvious choice. DKs have a handfull of skills that are extremely useful for a bow, and a lot of slots left over for using the Bows’ Actives. This is something often overlooked, if you pick a Nightblade, because they have the (2nd) most Actives that sysnergise with Range, at some point you stop being an Archer, and end up being another Nightblade with a bow. That critical difference is up to you, where you want to draw the line, but the DK Enhances the bow without overshadowing it.
Reflective Scales: #1, because Mages hate Archers, and they hate washing down your arrows with their own spells even more.
Green Dragonblood: Just a damned fine self heal, no wait, it is until you morph it to replenish Spamina as well.
Stone Fist: Right off the bat, this, and Arrows will get you through level 3 to unlock Poison Arrow at level 2. Why would you do that? Because everything in Coldharbor is immune to Poison. Okay, this is just a handy “Sit down, and shut up” counter for just about anyone in it’s limited range, or charging you. With Obsidian Shard, it’s 15M, which isn’t great, but what an Archer needs it for is when it’s starting to turn into a swordfight, and you can’t swap to a sword yet. Later, you can get Helping Hands, and magnum Shot. MS>OS, but, 1) It takes Stamina, which Helping Hands recovers if you’re out of it, and 2) Sometimes you don’t want to fly back 6M because there’s a cliff, or wall, or lava flow behind you.
Molten Weapons: Goes for all weapons

I find this to be the case for pve and pvp. Just a lot of excellent synergy between the 2.

For an archer I would recommend nightblade. They get a pretty sizable damage bonus attacking from stealth, and a stealth power-shot is a great opener. Then you get abilities like Cripple (a DoT, enemies lose movement speed, you gain speed), and if anyone gets too close you have invisibility. I played one of these during the beta, they were really good for pvp and mowed through pve.

I'm playing a nightblade healer. Fun combo, a stealthy healer is different than a healer in any other MMO I've played. I managed to heal through the first AD dungeon (Banished Cells?) last night with no issues. At least at this low level, dungeon pulls in ESO are pretty quick and brutal, high damage coming in and going out.
