When did eva2000 beat my 6600? i dont see it ;)

I need a new motherboard so I can push this thing higher!

Conroe-4-Ghz.jpg

I didn't post an update yesterday and no one said anything. :( Are you paying attention? It was
the first time I went a day without updating.

I just got the finishing touches on my Core 2 Duo setup. I have not OC'd yet, but it should be very interesting. I'm using the Asrock 775Dual-VSTA (I am using DDR400 and a AGP 6800GS). I'll say this straight up, its shocked me how fast it is. I'm running a E6300 and I had a A64 2.4Ghz before this, my jaw is dropping on how fast this baby flys.

Even if I dont get but a 1Mhz OC I must say this was money ver well spent, I finally feel that XP is lightning fast.

I feel wrong for saying this, but I am running 3.511GHz (7*501) with an E6300 on a BIOStar 965 motherboard right now.

Crashed Orthos at 31 minutes. Core at 1.41V. Will bump to 1.43 and see what happens. Bought this SL9SA at Fry's today here in Plano.

What's it stable at? How does it compare to the DS3? I wish my DS3 had more than 2 fan headers. :(

To the guy wishing for 1Mhz OC...I bet you hit at least 2.

Crashed at 1:18 minutes. I think the passive cooler on the NB is overwhelmed. Put on a swiftech I had sitting around and bumped it to 503MHz FSB. Let's see how it does while I get some shut eye.

GJ on the database, it's a real nice resource. Am I the only one who has noticed there is not a single Ballistix entry on there? I just ordered a set of the Ballistix PC2-6400 along with a DS3 and Conroe 6600 for my build, it's kinda nerve wracking to see all those results and not a SINGLE one with the RAM I just ordered

Does this count? It crashed at 4 hours 40 minutes while I was getting some snooze time...

7x503-4hrs.gif

F that. 503 is for wussies! ;)

Got 505 up and running stable at the moment, but I think that is the edge. Could get into windows at 510 but would crap out in a couple of minutes with full load on each core. This was at 1.4V...bumping the core up to 1.45 did not help and in fact made it less stable.

also, did you notice that in the database for 6600,6700 and 6800 there are very few guys using a ds3? did you wonder why?

re the ballistix - there are dozens of documented cases of the ram spontaneously combusting, and taking the cpu and mainboard with it. this happens at any vdimm and any mainboard, just like the ballistix ddr did in nf4 dfi boards. but its nothing to worry about. because i am only joking. the probable reason there isnt anyone using it is that it sucks. but this is just a guess.
good luck with the ds3 and the ballistix. you will need it. still kidding. i have absolutely no idea how it will perform.

Can't get my ES 6800 over 3.3 stabley, but mobo may be this issue, msi platinum 975c power up sooper dooper pooper scooper, or whatever. Thing can't even read correct temperatures from windows :/

This actually seems to be an extremely common problem with the Core 2's. I'm having a hard time believeing my temps are right sometimes, I havent hit over 45C on air cooling after hours of stress test. Maybe it is right and this Freezer 7 Pro is just handling this E6300 like a beast.

Not exactly what I wanted, but here it is nonetheless. It just was not 100% stable at 503, no matter what I did. I almost broke out the vapor phase....for real, but that is a huge pain in the ass.

Wow. Ok.
I of course did not believe your Corsair PC2-8888 memory claim...until I went to Corsair's
site. Very nice. You are a lucky man.

Your motherboard name is very long so in the database I shortened it to: BiostarT4cP965dlx.
Lower case letters take up less space.

And finally your BIOS version is very long. Are all those characters significant, are they
different for each version, or are like the 3 digits the ones that change?

I will be updating tonight probably between 8PM and 10PM Eastern.

Actually I think what I have is "9600" but the 8888 will be the next model so we will just call it that. It was way within rating anyway. I have had these 9600 sticks up to 1175 or so. Corsair tells me they will run 1200.

Roger that on the names, I understand. As for Biostar bios, I have no idea how they change, first time I have had possesion of one in my life! :p

sup peeps.... [H] n00b in the house.....=p first post here...my buddy in the states swears by this site...anywho im wasting time...Is week 28 worth waiting for? Get DDR2 800 or higher if you plan to overclock a Core2. Cas isn't that important.

BTW, I felt like I was reading a post from ALI G. (Ali G Show - HBO)
Mad Props to my boys in Ireland, Booyah, Respect.

Ive got a e6600 @ 1.5v @ 3 ghz, p5wdh-deluxe, corsair xms2 6400 @ 2 volts, ram devider @ 5:4 big typhoonVX ( cpu stays @ 30C ) power supply is a 450 watt coolMaster, Antec lanbay case, and a upset temper cuase I cant figure out what im doing any differant to get crappy results. My chip specs: batch: l624 A819. My bios is 1100. If any one can help me I would really apriciate it. Where is my bottle neck why cant a I get even close the others bench marks?

Hi Lawrywild. Please replace my 3.110 GHz entry with this one. Thanks.

E6600
OC: 3244 MHz
Stepping: 6 B2
Week: L624

Cooling: air (silent; all fans <= 600 RPM)
Cooler brand/model: Scythe Ninja

Motherboard: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
BIOS version: 1401

RAM brand: G.Skill 2GBHZ
RAM rated speed: 6400
RAM actual speed: 720
Latency: 3-3-3-12-5

This system can go faster at higher CPU and MCH voltage, but this is as high as I wanted to go so I could keep it silent.
I'm using four Nexus Real Silent 120mm fans, all undervolted to very low speeds, in an Antec P180 case.
You can't hear the fans unless you get right up to the box.

As always with P5W DH, I disabled C1E, SpeedStep and Hyper Path 3. I stuck with 1:1 RAM speed to keep latency low.
The CPU temperature reported by Probe 2 and SpeedFan is actually on the board under the socket, you need Core Temp or Everest to get the on-chip temperature which is much higher.
The motherboard temperature is the south bridge.

I set the vCore to 1.525 in the BIOS, the CPU-Z reading of 1.213 is bogus. The DRAM voltage is 2.30, the MCH voltage is 1.55, the ICH and FSB voltages are auto.

I replaced the stock NB heat sink with a Thermalright HR-05, and used Arctic Silver 5 on all heat sinks. The Ninja has a fan mounted on it, and a duct directly out the back.

ss360720uf5.jpg

Vcore of 1.525v (BIOS) is very high for only 3244MHz, have you tried lowering to ` 1.40Vcore

Well, I got more than the 1Mhz I predicted!

The Asrock 775Dual-VSTA is currently running my E6300 at 2.17Ghz. 310Mhz FSB.

Gonna do a bit more testing, see what I can get.

I have not done a full stress test, its late and I dont really feel like running it and falling asleep and if it does crash not knowing the settings, temperature, etc.

Here's what's being used:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 2171Mhz, 310FSB
Asrock 775Dual-VSTA
Geil 2x512MB DDR400
BFG 6800GS OC AGP

So I'm making full of the "legacy" ports on this motherboard. While my OC is not even near amazing, nor even decent, it seems to be slightly above what I've seen people get with the board. Here's a screenshot showing some CPU-z information:

2171Mhz.JPG

Ahh, all while listening to some Mauldin of the Well. :)

Kyle...you said it crashed at 4:40, yet you ssed at 4:37...how? And I laugh at your coup for the 6300 top rank, hahahaha!

New entry for my setup:

User Name: Donnyjepp
Stability: 8 hours with Orthos

CPU name E6600
OC: 3375mhz
Stepping: 6 B2 Week: L627
Code: A795
Vcore: 1.375

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
Bios Version: F5

RAM brand: Corsair
RAM rated speed: 6400
RAM actual speed: 938
Latency: 5-5-5-15

For anyone interested the memory is running at about 2.02v, +0.2v in the bios. Cores run around 63C under stress testing. Northbridge has been around 55C, I put a Jing Ting on it last night and although it only took off 3-5C it seems to have helped my stability under Orthos considerably.

Actually for a week 24 chip it's not uncommon.

The fastest this chip will go at 1.45v is a bit above 345 FSB (3110 MHz).
At 1.40v it's solid 300 FSB; I didn't experiment much with that voltage.

The week 27 chips need less voltage.

Wow. Lots of submissions today.

The Asus P5W DH Deluxe has once again overtaken the Gigabyte 965P-DS3 and we have
our first L628 chip as well. Also it is nice to see more water cooling overclocks being
submitted.

Look for an update after I make myself a late dinner.

Edit.
This thread has been viewed more times than any other thread in the Intel section. I am
swelling with pride. I hope I do not explode.
