Which would be better, I have the option of a week 26 or a week 28 stepping e6400?

The newer one? or week 26?

new one of course. The week 28 are getting mad overclocks at xtremesystems
e6600, e6400, you name it.

where are you buying your chips to have the option of choosing? And where can I get week 28?

Who has the supertalant modules?

They mentioned in the bottom where mentok1982 is showing what brands people are using but when i searched the table i cant find it.

Weird

At first system was unstablle at FSB 400. Then I followed some tips:
- Leave PCI to Auto (instead of 100)
- Disable Legacy USB support
- And most importantly : increase vcore to 1.376
I left other voltages stock except vDimm +0.1

Now I understand why the e6400 and DS3 make a fine combo. I will not try anything higher on air since 58-59 coretemp is the most I will tolerate considering Intel suggest a max temp of 60.5. Nextstep is finding the lowest vcore at 3200 MHz.

this reply is for user donnyjepp. Seems like your voltage (1.4) is pretty high for a week 27. Have you tried it at lower voltage? say around 1.35. And was it prime stable?

Actually I should update my sig and stats here. I was able to run my chip dual prime stable for over 6 hours now under 1.36V instead of 1.38. What did I do differently? I manually set the VDIMM (+0.1) and northbridge voltage and fsb voltage (+0.1V). It seems with the DS3 and the F4 bios, setting things to normal will cause bios to increase voltage incrementally with FSB.

I picked them up off newegg, got 3 week 28's and one week 26. I'm keeping one, and the others already are up on ebay.

RogueR1 has the Super Talent RAM. He has the E6300 processor.

It was prime stable for 4 hours in the original location (up on a table) with the FSB at 350 but then I moved my PC under the desk and it got very not stable, was basically hard freezing at random, was never up and running after I turned my back on it for a couple hours. Since then I dropped the FSB by 15 and it seems to have settled down.

Let me try dropping the voltage a hair. I was sort of wondering why it was running so high without adjustments. I should also note that throughout the Prime95 run where it was fine for 4 hours straight at 350FSB I was seeing core temps approaching 67C, quite toasty.

Edit: Yeah that helped my temps and stability considerably! Set the CPU voltage to 1.375 and my cores are 5-7C cooler. I shall stress test some more.

Yeah, I kept raising my vcore initially trying to eliminate the instability, until I realized it was the NB. Once I straightened that out. I realized my CPU hits 3Ghz at 1.356v (in BIOS) which under in Windows reads at 1.328 (default voltage after droop). And lowering my voltage from 1.4v to 1.356 dropped me about 2-3C under load!

Mentok could you adjust the vcore on my entry down to 1.344 please? It is just as stable for me but brought my temps down by a good 5-10C. Thank you!

Here's my latest adventure. Mentok please update my stats, including the voltage and complete week code. Thanks.

Usually I can't trust CPU-Z when it comes to voltage readouts. So what is your voltage?
And is your BIOS version still 0901?

The P5B is my first attempt at OCing and this board is really a pain in
that it's unstable for unknown reasons at many FSB settings. It's unstable
at 333, 350, 400, yet stable at 415, 425.

P5B vanilla owners- please share your stable FSB settings. I came THIS close
to giving up on it and getting a DS3 instead before finding help online
from others' experiences with this board.

ASUS monitor CPU temps are plain wrong. People in other forums have been
remounting their coolers over and over. I almost swapped my XP120 with
the Intel stock but thankfully I checked forums first.

Everest Home edition is out of date and doesn't work with this setup.
However, Everest Ultimate edition will detect the temps per core and I'm
much more inclined to believe the results.

The Delta is setup to launch the air out of the case from the CPU. It's
the dual counter rotating 220CFM model. Idle temps are 45-46C and load
they reach 57-58C. Ambient room temp is pretty hot though - 83F.
