Erm... Orthos (StressPrime) IS Prime95... it's using the code of Prime95 with an easier to use GUI.

Stress Prime 2004 is a better, I hope, GUI interface to Prime95's Torture Test. Thanks go to the Prime95 people for providing the Prime95 source code (version 24.14).

Oh wow, no kidding. I guess it'd be the same case then, throw it into one large FFT and one small FFT and it should give the best work out :D.

cec1l said:
Are you also stable using 'Large, in-place FFTs - stress som RAM' ? This is the only test I have been using so far and I am unable to get stability with a vCore setting of anything less than 1.500 in the BIOS.

My system:

E6600 retail OEM (I don't know week / code, installed it too quickly sorry :p)
P5W DH Deluxe
Scythe Ninja+ with Coolaboratory Liquid Pro
G.Skill 2GB HZ @ 4-4-4-12
380.4x9 = 3424mhz
vCore 1.500, all other voltages set to Auto
CoreTemp Orthos large fft load temp: 66-67C
PC Probe Orthos large fft load temp: About 50C, it actually reads 47C but whenever I have PC Probe running it chews one of my cores to 100% and basically blocks one of the Orthos threads from running at all so my temps fall a bit.

cec1l,

I've been stable for 8hrs+ running each of the Orthos small, large and mixed tests.
These are my BIOS settings, but keep in mind I have a p5b (i965) and you have a p5w (i975):
CPU frequency: 425
DRAM frequency: DDR2-850
PCIE frequency: 100
PCI clock synch: 33.33
Spread spectrum: auto
Memory Voltage: 2.00
CPU Vcore: 1.425
FSB termination voltage: 1.400
NB Vcore: 1.45
SV Vcore: 1.60
ICH chipset voltage: 1.215

I would like to see what kind of PSU's people are using.

Is a $70 500W Enermax sufficient or is a $130 Seasonic needed? Or more? These new cpu's consume much less power but the new video cards still eat up a lot of power... plus if you overclock the cpu's will consume more too.

I'm looking at an E6300 @ 3.5 Ghz using an Asus P5B + Geforce 7950GT ($300, comes out Sept 15th).

I'm using a 380watt Antec Truepower II. Honestly, PSU wattage doesn't mean as much as the quality of the PSU. A 500W Enermax is more than sufficient for that setup .

What I am looking for is the brand and model of the CPU waterblock. I looked at the review
for your kit and the kit includes the Asetek Antarctica CPU waterblock. Let me know if that
is not the one you are using.

UPDATE:
With better ducts installed, I was able to boost the voltages and clocks and still keep the system silent, with all fans < 700 RPM.

This system can go much faster at higher CPU and MCH voltage, but this is as high as I wanted to go so I could keep it silent.
I'm using four Nexus Real Silent 120mm fans, all undervolted to very low speeds, in an Antec P180 case.
You can't hear the fans unless you get right up to the box.

As always with P5W DH, I disabled C1E, SpeedStep and Hyper Path 3. I stuck with 1:1 RAM speed to keep latency low.
The CPU temperature reported by Probe 2 and SpeedFan is bogus, you need Core Temp or Everest to get the on-chip temperature which is much higher.
The motherboard temperature is the south bridge.

I set the vCore to 1.55 in the BIOS, it reads 1.50-1.54 in Everest. The DRAM voltage is 2.30, and the MCH, ICH and FSB voltages are auto.

I replaced the stock NB heat sink with a Thermalright HR-05, and used Arctic Silver 5 on all heat sinks. The Ninja has a fan mounted on it, and a duct directly out the back.

i can't seem to get it to boot past windows load screen after 415... i'm guessin i need a new bios? i'm sure i can go higher, but this is the only one i've primed overnight. the new heatsink and fan didnt make too much difference at all... well temps are down by about 10C, but other than that, it's not done anything for overclocking. still hitting the same wall. northbridge cooler coming soon...we'll see how it goes then.

and this pic is 420 not stable... i put a 120mm fan over my northbridge, and it finally boots up at 420. nothing else higher goes past the load screen yet. 1.58volts too... max on my board, at least that's what it says in bios:

Try dividing and conquering. Lower your multiplier and see how high your can crank your FSB so you can vertify if it's the board's fault. Note however, that sometimes these conroe boards only hit those high FSB at low multi's, but I dunno, try it out .

Doing a ton of testing and found something that I could easily use everyday.
3ghz_low_volts.jpg

Check out the Core volts! (Intel hardware monitor) I'm running the lowest possible voltage on the Bad Axe at 3GHz. That's a BIOS set 1.275v.

I'm running it currently at 3.1 with the same settings as above.

I'm really struggling with this board though, the memory controller is just horrible as I have to drop timings to 5-5-5-15 to get anything at all over 3.4GHz no matter how much voltage I give anything or memory divider I use.

CPU is cooled by Swiftech Storm on a custom loop with single radiator.
Team Memory DDRII 800 4-4-4-12

Realized the MCH, FSB & other settings need to be at +1, b/c "Auto" overvolts them too much.

Does that mean that your latencies are the same as my example, or that you forgot to enter
yours in?

Oh, sorry lol. I'll check again when I get home from work. It ran all night at 3.06ghz too. Will put up new ss I guess. And I'll provide the week/code as well, wrote them down somewhere.

Just finished putting the system togeather. E6600, P5b deluxe with 507 bios, 2 gigs of corsair 6400c4 xms, Artic cooling freezer 7pro. So far saved $200 on the E6700. Next up....3+ghz.

Lol... I updated it again:

http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1029880808&postcount=364

I added the CPU-z validation link. Also I had previously added the BIOS version too (P5W DH, version 1101).

Will I remain unofficial until I can get the week and code values of my CPU?

It took so long to spread that CLP on my IHS..

Is there another way to get this information without reading it off the package it came in or the chip itself? My OEM packaging did not show it. :(

Well I consider your overclock "official" I guess but it will not be colored green until you
provide the Week and Code. If you don't want to unmount your heatsink and stuff you don't
have to. I do not think it is worth it. It is just a font color man, no big deal.

There is no other way as far as I know. I have never seen a program display the Week and/or Code.

it's on the package. the batch number gives the info.

dammit. i feel insufficient. is running at 3360GHz good enough on this thing? 420x9 is the highest i can get to boot into windows so far. hopefully once my NB heatsink comes in it'll be even better, but i feel as though it's not good enough. the board really isnt mature, but none of the core2duo boards are at the moment. i'm a novice at OC'ng and my settings show that, but i was really wondering if this setup is worth it, as i'm about ready to ship it off because i want more!

You have the addiction. The addiction is yours. Keep what you have...breathe. :p

Week 27 has made 2 appearances so far and there is still room for some not stable X6800
and E6700 overclocks. I wonder how many people will be submitting their overclocks during
the long weekend? I will be updating the database so don't be shy.;)
