I don't think the last block thing will ever be an issue. Those heavily invested would likely purchase ASICs just to keep the network running especially if it only requires a very small portion of their holding.
 
You wouldn't need an asic if the difficulty dropped when the reward does.

I suspect doge cpu miners will finally quit this summer.

It all depends what dogecoin value is next year. If it is still 200 satoshi, might be hard to find miners when it is a tiny fraction of reward to what it is now.

If it is 1000 satoshi, it will not be hard to find miners.

Middlecoin is very reliable in terms of earning bitcoin from mining altcoins. They auto convert it to BTC.
 
Just got my 270x installed, hash rate is about 1.7mh/s, WU is around the 1500's though. I hope it's worth the extra 200w power usage(also due to moving my entire mining operation into my old x58 :D)
 
Any Socket 775 that supports DDR2 and multi GPU btw? I still have some DDR2s and Dual core CPU lying around. Also does the PCIe version matters for Mining?

Do you need a motherboard for 775? The only issue there is I think a lot of those sucked (I remember reading horrible stuff about the 790's and 780's).

That said, I don't think PCIe matters. I mine at the same exact rate in an x16 slot as I do with an unpowered x1 riser.



Really random, but what in the actual fuck. I downvolted my 7950 even more, it's down to like 0.875V, and that shaved off close to 50 watts, and only like 80ish kh/s. Dafuq.
 
Yeah motherboard probably with backwards compatible for latest gen vids. Might buy some 270s to add more hashes lol.

My sapphire 270x is doing 440kh/s without any attempt at tweaking(I just took a setting from the litecoin wiki). No idea about the power usage though, and it does get a bit warm. It's actually laying on a piece of wood outside of my case, very ghettomodded xD

I think there's only one 2gb model, it's the one with a purple robot on the box (dual fans).

I don't think it does, since it doesn't increase the bandwidth, but I'm not 100% sure. It wouldn't be worth the price difference though, since I assume the 4gb model is at least $50 more expensive.

LTC difficulty dropping due to everyone jumping on DOGE bandwagon... and when I just looked expected next DOGE difficulty is 1000 (it's 1300 now)

I suspect not many are without power. And those that are probably wouldn't effect the hashrate much.

I've been mining MOON over at Multipool.us and now the Multiport is focused on it for over 7,000 MH so I'm hoping the price will go up past 7 satoshi heh. So maybe MOON Dark12, they are super cheap though I dunno if it actually will go up in value..

Oh these usb risers are nice. Zero problems running them overnight.

(update: now they work in 16x slots too)

I have two pairs of two brands of cards, one of each is on usb risers, the other on ribbon risers.
The usb ones magically seem to have fewer rejects and slightly higher WU.

No power goes through the cable which is nice, all through the molex right on the card, they have an insulated bottom so you can keep them up in the air or put them flat on the bottom.

They have a nice "lock" to guarantee the part on the gpu stays in place, the motherboard slot seems a little looser than the ribbon risers but still stays in place from the contact pressure.

And I got the ones with the thicker insulated/shielded blue cable instead of the thin white cable which didn't look very shielded to me. These are the 50cm length, the 100cm seems unruly too long and I was worried it would be a cheaper quality cable.

Will put the extras up for sale later today, have to take photos and figure out the 16x problem.

they definitely work great for 1x to 16x, will take the rig down to test 16x to 16x some more later, always hate taking it offline

update: working now in 16x slots

it's either that one specific slot on my motherboard or the video card, and I suspect the motherboard as I have three 16x slots and they are not equal in ability

I bought 8 and they're fantastic. I'm wanting to build a different rack now but I'll just wait and build something in my inlaws basement. SHipping from that forum guy was really fast

Yep. I started the original bitcoin forum picture thread more than a few years back. Sadly I was liquidating my bitcoins at $10/coin to pay for gasoline to get back and forth from college and home. I only mined 400 coins or so total :eek: Oh yeah and I flushed 50 bitcoins on a format accidentally.
 
Bitcoin stories like those are why I keep looking at my pile of dogecoin and hesitate to sell more than half of it.

No way in heck it is going to a dollar but 1000 satoshi doesn't seem improbable, just not before it halves a couple times. The problem is will people keep mining it after it halves. Time will tell.
 
Thing is imho if coins like Doge, Lotto, Grand, Moon, etc., even approach values of $0.01, we have serious problems in the grand scheme of things. Fiat exchanges... hell, BTC exchanges aren't going to even be able to handle that sort of monetary value. There literally isn't enough money in the system to cover those coins at that rate.

Keep in mind the max volume of DOGE vs max of BTC, the market cap for BTC is currently something like 11 billion dollars

DOGE will have a max of 100 billion coins, vs BTC 21 million I believe. DOGE will never even get close to $1.

Now DOGE getting to 1 penny? if some really crazy stuff happened who knows? Nobody thought BTC would ever be $1200.

I'm kicking myself I sold off something like 1.2 million DOGE 2 weeks before the rise... ehhh shit happens. Personally I'm mining what I can and selling it off while prices are high. When you have that fast of a rise in value, I don't see these price levels as something solid (for the time being)

Either way -- until the bubble bursts -- I'm more than happy to be making $50 every day for doing jack shit. :):)
 
Sometimes when new coins come out, I just mine them for a little bit and then close the wallet and purposely forget about it, no trading or anything, just storage.

It's just hedging bets or being a venture capitalist in a very mini sort of way.

Of course you end up wasting time on things like coinye with that kind of open mindset but still, you never know.

hah - nope the "collegeboy" nickname was from when I was actually in college... 9 years ago, just don't know of a way to change my username here.

I'm running 6 cards, two 290s, and 4 7970s

I'm almost 32, just bought my first house, and very aware of the power requirements as reflected in my power bill. I think the worst bill I've had so far was $160 dollars. Keep in mind for me, the miners provide free winter heat (as much as you can call winter in north texas)

Let's not devolve this into a [H] - Newegg bashing thread. I really don't care about the "affiliate issues" or Newegg's pricing strategies either. Fact is, Newegg still consistently has excellent deals on computer hardware, depending on what you're looking for and when you're looking for it.

I don't actually hate new egg(I generally defended them in most threads here, I find the bashing pretty stupid as well), but those "deals" just seem stupid. They should rather accept BTC than make combos like that.
