The Altcoin Thread

I did get out at 220 so I'm looking for a rebuy of what I just sold maybe at 180

180 was hit and still a nice sized sell so I'm gonna keep waiting

screw it, I re-entered at 175

I have no choice but to hodl right now.

Anything I deposit will take too much time to process to be able to catch a decent price... I'm sure most of these exchanges are just swamped with DOGE transactions right now.

Meh, not worried yet. I do believe this process will happen again in the time leading up to the block reward halving.... just my speculation of course.

From what I hear, Middlecoin just dumped 200 BTC worth of Doge.

the only place that could possibly be moving that kind of coinage.. its great because I just grabbed bunch of free coins

Might be another drop soon. I don't see a lot of buys right now

Thanks for the heads up about Multipool.us, I ended up with about 2,000 DODGE which I had Cryptsy auto-sell and MOON. I have no idea what to do with the ~4200 MOON (Cryptsy doesn't seem to have it listed) but yeah :).

You can trade MOON on Coinex.pw or Coinedup.

To be fair, as much shit as I give Doge for being the granddaddy of modern scamcoins and bringing shame to scrypt vc... I really do want it to succeed. It does actually do a good job differentiating itself with its parameters from Litecoin, Feathercoin, etc. And it's the first of its breed that actually was founded by a community that sort of gave a shit about it from the get-go.

Hopefully it DOES go to the moon. And hopefully, I can retire right along with it.

Lol. That's the difference between any other Scrypt coins. Doge got a lot of community backing, I had high hopes to LTC/FTC as well but seems the community is not there to back it up. And if Doge becomes very successful then We can all retire happily :p.

This. Too many people believed the next big coin needs to be a new algorithm. I thought this too as well previously. But DOGE has made me realize we're now at the point where we just need crypto to be accepted. We don't need any more coins. We need acceptance, of which Doge is doing exactly.

It's nothing more than a bunch of numbers in the end. It's the system of crypto that matters, and not the label. People accepting DOGE = accepting crypto. End of story. Nothing will replace BTC imo, but it's a heck of a lot more intimidating to get involved with $800 BTC than it is $0.00X DOGE.

Seems cryptsy is starting to charge some ridiculous fees. My last withdrawal they took around 40 cents worth for a deposit that was like barely $10 worth.

Ick, higher withdraw fees? :( Are there not already enough fees eating into what little crypto I mine and eventually convert to USD? :/

Agreed on the need for acceptance, and yeah the barrier to entry for DOGE is significantly lower than that of Bitcoin! Yes, crypto in general and BTC are highly divisible, but people are used to thinking in terms of fiat currencies and buying X number of DOGE will make more sense than spending the same USD and getting 0.000n BTC.

building a rig for this right now, was wondering if in windows when you switch users, would it be able to have separate gpu settings(for gaming to mining).

Also I'm overwhelmed with information and it's hard to find out what's really up to date if anyone could provide me with a link to some basic info on setting the software up for cudaminer and whatever is best for ati cards (and do I use the same pool for both) I would greatly appreciate it.

my 2 systems:

a6 6400k apu (trying to figure out how to run a separate instance for this alone also if needed)
4gb ram
7750 1gb (might put in another next week)
laptop 320gb hd
wanted to try an ultra low power rig just to screw around with

i5 2400
640gb hd
8gb
660ti

Just make 2 bat files in cgminer. When you decide to game, just use the low usage bat file.

Yes you can. Sometimes I let my 2nd 290 mine while I game on my Primary 290. Just let cgminer know which card to mine ( -d flag)

I agree with you. Exposure and acceptance to the general public might be the biggest thing for all the alt coins. As more people know about the virtual currency, the more staying power(potential) it has.

Also I think it is just how we grew up to use currencies, it was never easy to wrap my head around how much 0.0001 BTC is worth even i know 1BTC -> ~$850...

And Doge is heading down......

it touched as high as 280 way too fast after dropping to 180. I think this is my new flipper coin. I sold over 220, rebought at 175 then went to bed. I think I'm going to be flipping this a few times a day

The glory days of altcoins are back baby. Doge, Lotto, Global (it's been fixed), Net, holy crap... they're ALL pulling in big bucks again.

Did anyone mine sexcoin at all? Haha, that was one I mined for a while bout a month back.

Alright boys and girls... the eternal question...

LottoCoin - current difficulty is ~11 something. It appears to be on the same pump path as Doge, which should be hitting 1000 difficulty today. I'm guessing based on block rewards, if you want to stockpile a coin, you should be stockpiling Lotto right now.

As much as I *don't* want to *stop* mining Doge right now... there might be more money to be made.

its all on how much gambling you feel like doing. I might have to split some of my rigs over to it but its just not in the top 5 on multipool so I'll wait before putting much into it

stupid doge coin... locked my wallet with some retarded password a month ago and can't remember it for the life of me

I hear ya. I'm picking up a PSU today, so I'll hopefully be putting a second rig online this week. That way I'll have a bit of flexibility to do different things here and there.

omg 278 satoshi? are you kidding me? wowzers

sold 50k around 120 and already regretting that because with the current difficulty it takes a couple days to get that back

but at least I didn't dump millions below 50 like some people, ha

come on 1000, I want that Tesla

best thing dogecoin did was fund the bobsled team (if they had cashed out today they would have had $50k instead of $25k) they got lots of mainstream press coverage
