LittleMe said:Anybody have any problems with the onboard audio? I'm only getting audio out of the left channel. I've checked the balance and what not, if I set the balance to right only, I get nothing. I hope it's something else so I don't have to RMA the board.
alien resident said:now were you able to actually click/select any of the drives ?thats where I run into a problem. I can see my logical partitions but I cant actually click on either of the RAPTORS to get get like a serial # of them ?
Opie said:I had the same exact experience. I could not select the drives at all.
alien resident said:it may seem obvious but just checking but did you make sure your speakers were setup correctly under Windows AND the AC97 (or whatever) codec program ?
you paid good money for it. Why settle for less than good quality.LittleMe said:Yes, I did. I've now confirmed it's a problem with the port. I hooked up the front audio ports using the header on the mobo and plugged the speakers into there. I had both left and right. I'm going to debate if it's worth RMA'ing at this point.
alien resident said:here is a simple question for most of you. When you all got your mobos do you recall seeing a funny sticker on the BACK of the mobo where the STACk cool 2 is supposed to be located ?
alien resident said:you paid good money for it. Why settle for less than good quality.
besides do you want your speakers connected to the front header. It'd look tacky if you ask me ...
LittleMe said:Not that I recall. Why, did you have something different there?
Yeah, I have that. I left it on too. It says something like "StackCool" or something. . . right?alien resident said:yeah. mine had this funny sticker that looked like it was kind of made of a thin foam like material. i called ASUS and they said leave it on. I just never heard anyone else talk about it so i thought i'd ask .

Don't worry about it. It's supposed to be there.![]()

glad to hear you have everything up and running now.bup23 said:got my board back got everything installed did the same thing as before so i ran memtest and got about 700 errors on test #6 so im freakin out that i gota get new memory but i flash to bios 903 still seems not much different and the irq,s are all basically on irq 10 im thinkin because the bios isnt acpi compliant?so next i reformat using the 903 bios evrything seems great especially since it is acpi compliant and there is no errors on the install then i get to windows and see my irq,s are all good...now no errors and i ran memtest and did 1 pass and no errors so i think the 1103 bios causes memtest errors in my case..so after 3 weeks and lots of grief i have rock solid system now..thx for the help little me 8)

1103 is known to cause errors in test six...
the way to fix it is disable usb legacy support in the bios. a weird bug...

Prob's During Build
Niether my Zalman 7700Cu or Thermaltake Big Typhoon would fit with the tall Corsair RAM.
Solution
Ran to Fry's Electronics during install and picked up the Zalman 9500.
Current Issues
The temps on this board are just way too high. My FX-60 idles at 48C and loads at 60C
I have tried three different heatsink greases - AS5, generic white stuff, and the Zalman white stuff that came with the 9500... all have the same temps within 1C. Also, these temps go down by 1C if I do not OC. It will run games for hours, and will do dual Prime95 runs (1 for each core) for 36 hours with no issues. I am at the point where I think the BIOS is just reporting the temps wrong.
My thoughts
Other then then the high temp readings, this system is solid! No issues at all. Very fast boot, very overclockable, all games look awesome - HL2 (with HI-rez pack), SWG, WoW, FEAR all play and look amazing with all the options turned on at 1920x1200... The temps do bother me though... may try water cooling.
yes you'll have to reinstall windows. different board, different chipset, different drivers.scrawnypaleguy said:Maybe you guys can answer this question for me... I have an Asus A8N-E board but I'm thinking of upgrading to the A8N32 for the passive chipset cooling, but will I have to reinstall windows if I do?
