Starfield

I don't find that acceptable. A game should stand on its own and not require mods to become good. Bethesda realizes on modders too much to fix their garbage and shouldn't be supported.
The funny thing is there are probably hundreds of thousands if not millions of gamers who play their games vanilla and think they are perfectly fine. Maybe those people also consider mcdonald's to be nutritious food.

It works fine, just can get a bit bland at times. The biggest issue is some quest design which requires a lot of fast traveling back and forth. Cannot be fixed with mods. The other major problem is the resource bullshit, but that can be fixed by opening the console. A pain without a doubt but not too hard when you need to upgrade a weapon.

REV-8 is fun to drive. And, run over hostiles with.

Will be pre-ordering Shattered Space. I wouldn't normally do a pre-order but I'm having a lot of fun with Starfield as I did with Fallout 4.
i haven't played since i completed some time back, but i'll have to check the REV-8 and dlc once it comes out, looks fun :)

Here's a couple of things to know:

Slippery on snow. Difficult to maneuver and have to watch your Ps and Qs around shrubbery and trees.

Blast on sand, gravel and similar surfaces. Luna (Moon) was a total kick running around with it. Mars was also fun.

Which one? There are a lot of them.
Probably star wars genesis.

The DLC is wholly contained on the new planet.

I think that is ideal for this expansion and maybe the next one. The first game had too much fast traveling required between missions. That kind of killed any sense of wanting to fly around and explore. This might be an over correction but if they make a second Starfield (with a better engine) maybe they can figure out how to do exploration and mission design better from the start.

Unfortunately, Bethesda has very little capacity to learn and change it's ways.

Yeah it's an over correction because they realized they aren't capable of designing good content on a galaxy-wide scale.
The original game should have been 1 solar system with 5-10 handcrafted planets like the DLC.

The excessive instancing is what breaks immersion in this game. I can understand the instancing for gravity jumps but to walk into buildings? To get on and off your ship? Each instance jump is small but when it's happening all the time it adds up.

it'll be interesting to see the reviews for this DLC and if Bethesda made any fundamental changes to the gameplay to make it more engaging...most games nowadays need a few months of patches post-release to get in launch shape

There Will Be No ‘Starfield: Shattered Space’ Reviews Before Launch

That’s according to IGN reviews editor Dan Stapleton, who was told by Bethesda there would be no codes for the Shattered Space expansion going out...my own code requests went unanswered entirely...so, there will be nothing to read and no scores to analyze before actual launch day on Monday, September 30

Why? That we don’t know, and press has not been told...this may be for technical reasons, somehow...or Bethesda may be going back to their old ways, where for a spell, they did not given out review codes at all for games like DOOM and Prey, a policy that was reversed pretty quickly...

The reason is obvious. The press can't gaslight gamers anymore with overhyped/paid for "reveiws" of BSG titles now that everyone knows what a brown slab of mediocrity Starfield turned out to be. All those ridiculous 9 out of 10 scores, ha. BSG knows that and doesn't want reviews to dent their preorder sales.

did Starfield get those kind of high review scores (on average)?...I remember it getting a lot of decent reviews but nothing incredible, with a few outliers who gave it high praise...the reviewers that didn't rush to get out the reviews on Day 1 didn't seem all that impressed...typical Bethesda, not terrible, not amazing...average

I recall there being a shit ton of 8/10 9/10 and so e 10/10 scores all listed on the game page at release, enough to make the casual consumer think it was going to be fantastic

Metacritic has Starfield at 85%, which is too high IMO. And I plan to play both DLCs because I found the game enjoyable enough but it isn't an 8.

If 1000 people review a mediocre game it shouldn't be too hard to find 24 people who love it.
That being said people were so hyped for this game I imagine a lot of reviewers, in a bubble, didn't realize or refused to accept it wasn't that good.

Has anyone had the chance to play the DLC? I have the Microsoft Store version, so I'll have to actually try it out on my Windows drive since there's no open source clients for such.

A number gave more appropriate scores, but still that is quite crazy. So many perfect scores, or near perfect. Did they not ever play the older Fallout games? Or any other game?
With those scores they probably didn't even play Starfield
