Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

PC. Didn't see anything under keybindings. Maybe I'll try the ol' "press every key!!" trick :)

I wonder how many slaves can fit in that cargo hold :D Does anyone remember how much was the pledge for that ship?

Hey hey, we are simply relocating them to be more useful and productive Citizens

Oh that goes without saying. Why should we be blamed if a Vanduul electro blade manages to fall inside the cargo hold and the passengers decide they want to claim the prize money and chance to walk away paid for by the ship's crew. Enter the space Thunderdome.

you wont be able to see ANYTHING from that cockpit...

makes boarding your n00b asses all that much easier. :p

You wouldn't fly that ship alone, you'd have to be accompanied by a few Cutlasses and other escort ships as part of a squadron or fleet. Flying solo is going to be a pretty dangerous proposition, unless you have a very fast ship to be able to outrun and get away from pursuers.

agreed. Looks like that ship would be for transporting booty. :D

This game looks stunning.

Anyword on how well it can be played with a Gamepad? This would be the tits on my 46' from my recliner.

Most of the game play so far has been demonstrated using a gamepad. That said I have no idea how well it will work in the full game.

I really want to pick up another ship, but I think there will be Hornet variants that I like better, and the other ships I like (350R, M50) aren't available.

Tried to get interested in a 325A but it seems like it's essentially a more practical less combat effective F7C, which is the opposite of what I want.

Maybe the F7C really is the ticket, a military craft with the bare minimum of practicality (some cargo cap, more upgrade space) installed.

The game is being built to accommodate several combinations of control inputs. You can have movement, looking and firing completely decoupled. Using an Oculus Rift, you could be walking forward, looking to the left, and firing your weapon to the right.

Without a Rift I assume you would have your view and aiming tied together. So you move with one stick and aim with the other.

Oooooooh, that Cat looks like it would be a great scavenger ship as well ;)

So I paid for a skin, and it still lists me as a Civilian.... Acting like I didnt back it still =[

*edit*
NM, its now showing $Backer

Edited the environment files to get rid of the butt ugly fog in the deluxe hangar and also upgrade my regular hornet to the Ball Turret one. Click for full size version.

Could you show how you edited those files? I hate that yellow fog crap and it looks pretty awesome without it.

Always backup your files before you begin.

1) First backup your GameData.pak file located in ...\CitizenClient\Data directory.
2) Using 7-Zip, open the GameData.pak file and browse to GameLayers directory.
3) Right click on Business.lyr and select edit (this will open the Business.lyr file with notepad).
4) In notepad scroll down and look for the line shown below.
< Variable Name="Fog color" Color="0.24680986,0.41515183,0.62534076" >
5) Starting with the line above, hightlight all the way down to the 2nd line listed below (< Spline......).
< Variable Name="Volumetric fog: Shadow range" Value="0.1">
< Spline Keys="0:0.1:0,0.0673611:0.1:0,0.355556:0.1:36,1:0.1:0,"/ >
6) Right click on the highlighted text that you now have selected and click Copy.
7) Now following the same steps as above, you want to open the Deluxe.lyr file rather than the Business.lyr file and replace those same variables by pasting what you just copied out of the Business.lyr file.
8) Click save in notepad and close the file.
9) 7-Zip will ask if you want to update the file in the archive, you want to click OK.
10) Load up the game and enjoy a fog free Deluxe Hangar!

To get the F7A Hornet:
(Rough instructions taken from http://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/1ldvco/how_to_change_ships_by_renaming_files/cbyvxdb and http://forums.somethingawful.com/sh...rid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=308#post418973685)

- Create a backup of Scripts.pak
- Open file with 7-zip and navigate to \Scripts\Entities\Vehicles\Implementations\Xml\
- Right click -- Edit: Anvil_Hornet.xml
- Select all text and copy
- Close editor window
- Right click -- Edit: Anvil_Hornet_F7C.xml
- Select all text and paste
- On the very first line of the file edit: <Vehicle name="Anvil_Hornet" to <Vehicle name="Anvil_Hornet_F7C"
- Close editor window and click ok when it asks you to update

- Navigate to \Scripts\Vehicles
- Right click -- Edit: DefaultAnvilHornet.xml
- Select all text and copy
- Close editor
- Right click -- Edit: DefaultAnvilHornet_F7C.xml
- Select all text and paste
- Close editor and click ok when it asks you to update

- Launch hangar; Another tip: you don't need to use the launcher, you can make a direct shortcut to the EXE it will login just fine. Your login info is already stored in a separate file (LoginData.json)
- Profit

Following the same steps as above you can give yourself whatever ships you want. Gonna try it with the Vanduul scythe and the Bengal carrier, lol.
Edit: Doesn't work with Bengal carrier nor Vanduul Scythe.

I was following your instructions wrong. Copied the aurora files into the hornet and couldnt get it to work. Reversed it and voila! Now to go play with the hornet. Thanks! :D

Yeah, it only works with ships they have available for the hangar module. Tried a few of the other ships and it didn't work.

Another tip, the motion blur in the hangar module is absolutely terrible IMO. To turn it off (from memory, at work at the moment, will double check when I get home).

Press tilde to bring up console (the button to the left of "1" on your keyboard).
Type in: r_motionblur off
Press enter to accept, then tilde again to close the console.

Enjoy a motion blur free hangar.

i think i'm finally going to install the game and try out these mods tonight, so thatnks you you and lorien and whoever originally figured this stuff out. :)

i gotta say though, that ball turret on the hornet looks like a colossal waste of space and weight. shipmakers can design warp capable spaceships but cant design a simple articulating arm? idk that gun looks like it has very limited range and takes up a TON of space and weighs 2 tons...

dont forget about Loriens give away tonight on his twitch channel, 9pm EST 8pm CST

The game uses cryengine, so a lot of the console commands that worked in Crysis will also work in the hangar module (that's how I discovered how to turn off motion blur). There would be other options you could play with, I haven't really tested much, I just hate motion blur so went out of my way to turn it off :D
