Today is the last day for Luminalia stuff! https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/19605-Luminalia-2953 - Don't forget to pick up your 12 gifts on the website! For new players who think it may be far enough along to give it a shot, the starter packs are both discounted and include more features (ie longer insurance terms, extra UEC)! As always during these events, I'm bringing back my at cost / under cost + bonuses for all interested!
There's also the referral promo where a new player/account, so long as they put in a referral key at account creation before a pledge package is purchased gets -
If they were referred by an existing one, for free,in addition to the standard referral bonuses (5000 UEC etc)! The referring player gets something similar with a couple of different colors for some of the items, full disclosure. Want a starter pack UNDER the current discounted cost and the referral goodies? Let me know and I've got ya.
- Aves Talon Armor Set (Aves Talon helmet, legs, arms, core)
- One Light Undersuit (Teal)
- Aril Quicksilver Backpack
- FS-9 “Evergreen” LMG
- RYT Multi-Tool + Attachments (Mining, TruHold Tractor Beam, Healing)
- Gemini LH86 Pistol
- Sawtooth “Squall” Combat Knife
- Luminalia "IceBreak" RSI Aurora Paint
Also, if you were thinking of the ships that have Concierge bonus skins, like the Gatac Syulen and RSI Arrasta , the Cutter and many more they can be provided at cost either the ship+skin at the same price that would normally be just for the warbond ship, or if you just want the skin by itself. Unfortunately, you probably cannot see these without a Concierge flagged account, but something like Starcitizen.tools can be useful. Or for that matter, just PM me the ship or package you're thinking of getting and I'll let you know if there's a bonus skin
COME ON DOWN! We'll see who will play for the showcase after this!
At least the showcase has tangible goods that contestants get to take home if they win... With Robert, not so much. More like playing the game of repeatedly handing over your cash for wishes, hopes and dreams.COME ON DOWN! We'll see who will play for the showcase after this!

Oh, dreams are fine. Keep right on dreaming - no need to wake up, unless it is to buy more ship bundles to feed Robert's machine that is.I guess the game Ive been playing is all in my head, yeah? All those pixels I bought and get to use in that imaginary game also dont exist outside of my head?
Damn, it was a nice dream until you came along and woke me up.
I would not hold your breath on that shit. From their 2021 FAQ.I don't think they are doing that bad... Seems like development is snow balling. The game is at least an order of magnitude more ambitious than anything else ever attempted. I will start sharpening my pitchfork if it still has a single digit tick rate and the desync issues after server meshing.
Persistent streaming has been in the game since May and they were testing the Replication layer split in tech preview channel recently. The game will likely have static meshing by the middle to the end of the year.

I was thinking of writing up one of my typically long posts for a couple of players wanting to get started, but I happened upon someone who already did a pretty good job with things up to date! I don't necessarily agree with every bit, but overall its pretty comprehensive and is a great introduction - it even mentions https://github.com/starcitizen-lug/lug-helper, a Linux focused utility made by LUG, one of the longest running Linux focused orgs. Please note that this is not my work and I am not responsible for it or its contents, but I wanted to link it as such a resource is beneficial.
Also, for those interested in the kind of roleplay and virtual world stuff already happening in SC, https://www.theexperience.dk/home/ , an in-universe "cruise" on an Origin 890 Jump operated by the Danish organization Stellar Eagle Alliance is having its maiden voyage today, Jan 13th (VIP invitiation only) , with more to come in months following - Jan27th , th first with open ticketing, is apparently sold out already! Tickets are 400,000 aUEC , but even if you don;t have any interest in going you can check out those streaming their trip, as suggested by CIG's blurb about them in the newsletter...
I do not know any of those streamers listed, but it should be interested to see how the event goes! its nice to see these kinds of things done by various orgs and the community!
“We knew there would be a segment of our fans who would love to take advantage of our new ship bundle, but might not have the capital available to do so. Which is why we are proud to announce our new reverse mortgage program"
Wait....the F8C is available openly? Or is this only for those who managed to get one of the Golden Tickets back during the event in Nov but didn't actually buy one? Or from how its worded, there are Golden Tickets dropping again now for the duration of the event? I wonder if they're bringing Platinum Tickets back too...the "In Case You Missed It" Sale is going on for the 2023 ships that stopped being sold. Get em while they are hot, I caved and got a f8c... 2 of them actually.
I'm glad to see this kind of stuff as it is one of the things that sets SC apart from more typical space sims and gives rise to a virtual world. While for the moment it is more RP focused (alongside perhaps user-defined courier services) I am curious how the future will develop mechanics that are meaningful atop RP fun for things like the Genesis Starliner. One of the biggest concerns I've had with the long arc of development is newcomers to development making the game too traditionally industry focused not just in monetization, but in other factors as well. For a Genesis Starliner to work, complete with onboard beverage services , crew from pilots right down to stewards and guards etc... the game universe needs to have travel that is long enough to make this worthwhile as opposed to getting in whatever ship you have with Quantum travel and just flying there yourself. A lot of people who are fixated on instant travel won't be happy, but its necessary to make the scope of the universe feel large and allow for emergent gameplay dynamics especially when the game's full mechanics and public universe goes live. There are many other facets as well from implementing stellar cartography and jump mapping/exploration, to all the various science/manufacture/everything the MISC Endeavor can do, and much more, but I imagine one day there will be reasons to take a Starliner across a few systems to a new job and/or quest hub besides just enjoying virtual martinis. WHen they do, it will create a system where, compared to flying it in your own vessel and having to go through numerous checkpoints, someone who is carrying a sealed briefcase of high value as a courier (be it legit or contraband) will sign up for a 3rd class cabin on a Starliner and try to keep ther head down. Lets hope that continued expansions of these underlying systems will make for unique mechanics beyond just the more traditional and expected ones. But roleplaying isnt real content! STOP HAVING FUN!
Just figured I would get in here ahead of the normal naysayers and get their arguments out of the way.
I didnt know anyone was doing full on stuff like the cruises, but I knew it would be coming. Passenger and leisure/touring stuff is going to more or less be based all around RP outside of moving AI characters, so getting started now is really a good idea. Theres no reason to wait, as theres nothing else system wise in the game that is "required" to make it work. Theres more features and stuff that will flesh it out down the line, but the basics are already there and you dont need anything more for it to be viable.
I was part of NOVA for a long while, and they did Org ops like that constantly - tours around planets, exploration groups, cave diving, etc. It was pretty nice, but we never did anything "public" like this - fingers crossed it gets some more people inspired to it
Ive been debating lately offering shuttle services in landing zones to go between the city and the orbital station above - I have found myself at one or the other and needing to fly to the other for a ship, and thought that others probably do too. I dont particularly like pulling a ship out just to fly it there, and would gladly pay someone a few thousand to take me. I figured if I feel that way, others probably do too...
Just gold tickets, if you need one I'll have my Org hunt one down if we don't have any laying around. They are much rarer now and about 30-40 of us hunting them down and handing them out to people who want f8c's. Our org was hired to be on patrol during tomorrows daymar ralley.Wait....the F8C is available openly? Its my understanding that as soon as 3.23 come in, the "Xenothreat" event will soon start. However, its very important to mention that NOW, before Xenothreat events start, you can play up to 5 missions related to them, in the Overdrive Initiative - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/19753-Overdrive-Initiative - Completing them all will badge you account with a Anvil Hornet MK2 F7A upgrade badge; so if you buy or acquire by play an Anvil Hornet MK2 F7C (this i a different ship from the boxier MK1 variant on which most hornets are based) you can upgrade it to an F7A military trim level. Also, old time players (some maybe on this forum, including myself) who bought the original mid 2010s F7A upgrade kit in the charity promo for veterans, will apparently get a full ship (possibly F7A MK1 ) as a thanks - we'll see the particulars.3.23 patch incoming in a month or so
3.23 or 0.323?

Anyone have a good modern (ie Alpha 3.22 or failing that close to it) suggested keybinding mapping and/or instructional video? I'm running into the issue that some of the 'big' prefab keymaps (ie BuZZKiller) do not support my particular joystick setup and aren't necessarily easy to adapt. Currently, I'm using HOSAS...Ditto
I just spend a night setting up my bindings, I ended the night at targeting, continuing in a bit. I just searched youtube for each type and tried top find the most recent.Anyone have a good modern (ie Alpha 3.22 or failing that close to it) suggested keybinding mapping and/or instructional video? Right hand - VKB Gunfighter + MCG Ultimate w/ twist
Left hand - VKB Gunfighter + SCG Premium + Omnithrottle adapter
I'd also just be interested in a good generalist HOSAS bindings video where they went through various functions in order of precedence and what kind of stick component/location you want to bind them to etc. Any ideas?
I have two gunfighters premiums. I've tried using binds from the internet. Ususally end up spending hours remapping it all anyway.I just spend a night setting up my bindings, I ended the night at targeting, continuing in a bit. Yeah T.16000 and a VKB Gunfighter Pro with pedals, hailing and targeting it about all I have left.I have two gunfighters premiums. I've tried using binds from the internet. Ususally end up spending hours remapping it all anyway.
today is a great time to start, with all the new UI features, Mastermodes to slow down space combat, and all the new changes have been great so far.So, I am an original backer and have not played for over 10years(has it been that long. Sure feels like it)
Is this worth getting into again ?
I'd say so overall, I always check in now and again and there's a lot more 'game" there now, with each update adding new features to the gameloop on the public universe slice, among others. There can still be bugs or other issues and its not complete, but it can be great fun and there's a surprising amount of depth and content even so far. I agree with what Dan says as wellSo, I am an original backer and have not played for over 10years(has it been that long. Sure feels like it)

I think the master modes are, as BassTek references, designed to reorient space combat to a slower pace and focused around each ship's behavior catering to its strengths and bound by weaknesses. The original flight models were a bit "arcade-y" and much like damage models didn't necessarily give people time for emergent gameplay they're trying to build (ie you need to be able to disable a ship without blowing it up in a space jousting twitch fest if you're going to threaten someone to drop half their cargo as a pirate etc). My understanding is master modes are designed to make it so ships fly as they're supposed to (ie light fighters benefit from their agility, whereas heavier ones can withsstand more shield/hull damage and output raw weapons power etc) and that you can't just easily "have it all" with power swapped back and forth between shield, weapon, engines etc..at the drop of a hat, while also in combat. I grant it may be more cumbersome to start and the system isn't finished, but I figure its the first step down this path and will be refined more. Some other control changes I don't know enough about to comment.Last night I successfully did a bunker mission and a bunker protect mission without any issues. The new MM modes and cruise control changes are a bit cumbersome but they aren't a deal breaker (yet). Initial impressions I have is that both changes are cumbersome and unintuitive. It just feel like extra complications to what was a very smooth flying experience previously. I still haven't done any combat yet so that is yet to be seen. The new star map and minimap are both amazing though.
im a 5800x3d.64gb ram, 3090 and feel i havent gained that much performance. its more or less the same.Snip.
