Yeah, you should be able to see a light source on the glossy or matte anti-glare coating..

Ever heard of flash bouncing? thought not...

how many inch is the LCD TV?

And how would you compare the quality of the resolution vs. your LCD monitor?

its the 60 inch KDs-60a2000, sony sxrd

the resolution is full 1080p so that is 1920 x 1080.. my 20 inch LCD is 1680 x 1050

but with any projection TV, there is overscan.. so that makes it about 1890 by 1020

either way, my LCD is gorgeous!!

It's possible to get 0% overscan on the sxrds with an external scaler from what I've read.

Its impossible to get 0% overscan with LCD/DLP/LCOS RPTVs because the overscan is caused by the image being projected larger optically.

With an external scaler you can however shrink the whole 1920x1080 signal down to the viewable pixels. Which is fine for 480i->720p content but not recommened if you're viewing 1080i/p. Since a half-decent external scaler costs nearly as much as the TV itself its also not a good value for getting your extra 2% of the image back.

Oh yeah, whoops. I read that it was possible in glancing awhile ago, but never really looked into it. Your explanation makes sense :).

yea, I have looked into that many times.. here is the problem.. I spent 3000 on this TV, the d**n scaler costs 1500.. the only time it would be useful is for images that need the edges on the screen such as my HTPC for viewing taskbar.. etc...... but software such as powerstrip corrects this for FREE on the pc... the TV does a fine job upscaling 480i/p and 720p content.. so I feel the scaler is a worthless investment.. the only time it might be worthwhile is to upconvert a 720p signal to 1080i/p and letting the TV do the rest of the scaling, but like I said, the TV converts better than any others I have seen.. especially the previous XBR1 model

by the way.. if you want pics of the TV running my HTPC.. be glad to post some pics...
