grown men should have toys! growing up people feel lucky if they could get one of those items, but once you are grown you discover the magic of having a credit card and a steady income and being able to get all the toys you want.

The important thing to remember about credit cards is that you do have to pay them off...

Hey Tumpeloinen, how good is the icemat mousepad? Does it work well with the MX1000? Is it noisy like those aluminium mousepads?

I think it's a pretty damn good mousepad. It works perfectly with MX1000, by far this the best combination I've ever had.

Only thing is that it could be a little bit bigger.. I have to think about getting a bigger one..

And no it's not noisy at all when you use the teflontape what comes with the package.

Is that a regular Icemat black or it's the 2nd edition one? The latter is supposed to be a lot bigger but I don't know the exact dimensions. I wonder how long does it take until the teflontape feet wear out. It would be a pain in the ass to have to buy new ones every 2 months or so.
 
This one is the original one, so it's a bit smaller than the 2nd edition.

My teflontape lasted a little bit over 6 months when it started to feel like it doesn't slide properly anymore. I just replaced the tapes last week and now it slides very nicely. :)
 
6 months is pretty good. Personally, I use my MX1000 at high sensitivity so I don't need a big mousepad. I think I would even prefer the original over the 2nd edition one :)

instead of using url use img instead as the tag. I would try and show it to you but it will treat it like I was posting an image.
 
Here's my frugal setup... Dell 19" E193fp, I do have a 17" Dell 1704ftp coming in the mail... I totally missed that 7 day sale thing that Dell had... so I just went for that 17"

LOL, yes, that is my Office Space stapler, I LOVE THAT THING!!!! It's a whole lot of real estate, much more than I thought it was going to be. I had to wait a month after ordering them to finally get them but was scheduled to not get them for another month. Somebody on here pulled some strings with some lady named Jenny I think and they came waaay early!!!

3000 hour rated bulb life

Resolution, 1280x720 desktop and in most games (720p)

I didn't miss the R actually.. since it's in 0 configuration there is actually no redundancy of the disks.. which is what the R stands for in RAID. I know everyone calls in RAID 0... but it's not! :D
 
Here's my setup at home... its a little sloppy, but it works just fine for me. :p
In this pic, I'm coding while watching iRobot on OS X.

Very envious of your humble setup; I'm thinking of buying a projector myself, but the whole resolution/bulb life obfuscation has me in knots. I'm guessing by the sheer price alone of the Panasonic you have, makes it a mid range model. 1280x720 sounds quite nice, too.

Is the keyboard a humour prop? It's decrepit compared to your fine taste in displays.

The AE700u which is an lcd projector you can pick up for around 2k. It's really the first I've seen in the price range that could do 720p and 1080i. It's got the power to cut through a lot of ambient light as well. As for cost I got around that by justifying it as a new tv to boot. :) Since it's hooked up to my home theatre it serves a dual purpose.

I have that Sharp lcd to my side which is in my peripheral vision when watching or playing. I would like to eventually get an lcd computer/tv monitor (a small one) and I bought a video switch which has two video output. That way I can watch tv on the small lcd while playing games as well as the reverse.

And ya that's the WoW cinematic.. I had a hard time getting any shot that wasn't blurry with movement, I should have just taken a shot of the desktop, it's not as much fun though.

Those are actually well-built keyboads. The don't make them like they used to.

Go to lumenlab.com and build your own projector. Its easier than you think.

My bulb will last ~20,000 hours and is $33 to replace. My resolution is 1024x768, and it looks very nice. Everything together cost me $350. Some people are building WUXGA projectors with really rediculous resolutions, others are building miniature projectors with 8" lcds. Its a really fun and addicting project.

I can't knock Dell because since January I picked up:

Dell 8400 with P4 3.2
2 gigs of PC3200 Ram
Radeon X800 XT
200 & 80 gigs SATA drives
2005 FPW LCD
Klipsch 2.1 speakers

All for $825 from Dell. How can you go wrong with that? :D

For 825 dollars? Are you kidding? All that for 825 dollars, and I begin to wonder if that 2gigs of RAM and that FPW and pretty much the rest was made in a Korean sweat shop or something....

Thanks for the comment on the desk. Woodworking business sometimes has it's benefits. The wood is called Tiger (Curly) Maple. The computer on the right is my wifes, old old Dell. She wants to keep it until it dies, oh well. The other one I bought used from some dude 3.4GHz, 2GB RAM, X800XT (PCI Express) for a great price. I couldn't resist the videocard. It was perfect timing for Half Life 2 and another go at Far Cry. There are a couple of Antec Sonatas in the house but I had to limit that room to 2 computers. :-( There is a skirt for the back of the desk to cover up wires and stuff, but it hasen't been installed yet.

Why they gotta be Korean sweatshops? :) Koreans don't need sweatshops.. we got robots for that.
