Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

just got my E2200HD..

I had an ASUS G1S that died on me a couple of months ago. If you have an ASUS G1S with an Gefore 8600M in it, be warned, ASUS knows that the videocard is defective, and are replacing the units with G1Sn units. They are doing this as notebooks fail.

This is due to the known nVidia Thermal cycle problem found in many mobile Geforce cards. This issue has affected Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Apple.

Just thought you'd like to know.

On a side note, I was very happy with my G1S. Played everything I threw at it... but I mostly used it for UT3 and TF2. =P

what is the max res? 1920x1080 or 1920x1200? How do you like it so far? just wanted to know because I wanted one.

Its 1920x1080.

I love it so far, but might take it back. Heres what I have gained so far...

Pros:
1. Don't notice any backlight bleed.
2. 1" bigger than all those other 24" with 1080p resolution.

Cons:
1. Text looks a little fuzzy/blurry. Then again i'm coming from a 40" with 1920x1080 to a 25" with 1920x1080, so maybe that has something to do with it.
2. Had to use overscan, using 4870x2.....if thats even a bad thing?
3. If your using an lcd arm, think again. The LCD has a 6 hole pattern 200x100mm and most arms (including mine) has the 4 hole pattern 100x100m. So no matter which side you choose, its not going to be even and might create some problems keeping your lcd even.
4. Only 1 hdmi and 1 vga, no dvi.

Overall, if it looks like something you might like. Just pick it up from bestbuy and try it out. You get a 14 day return policy with no restocking fee.

The current setup. Dual 26s and a 24. The center and right LCDs are the Samsung Syncmaster 2693HM, and the one on the left is the Syncmaster 2493HM. All are hooked up via DVI. All have DVI, VGA, and HDMI. I love me some Samsungs like a fat kid loves cake. And these are bloody gorgeous. All three are at 1920x1200 resolution. And no, I did not care for cleaning up my work area this time. And yes, I am running Ultramon.

interfacelift.com. Sorry i cant find the specific pic but it's on there.
I don't understand people who say this - if you have it set as your wallpaper, then obviously you have it saved on your computer, so why can't you just upload it to imageshack or wherever?

Here's the link to the lighter wallpaper.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Bf9ZikEbHvE/S...i_cM/Water_lighter_1920+x+1200+widescreen.jpg

Jeez louise! Some people are just lazy. All you had to do was a Google Image search of "water lighter" and you would found every resolution of the pic from 440 x 352 to 1920x1200. I mean c'mon, this is HardForum. If you can build a badass system, some of us with our eyes closed, surely a simple Google search shouldn't be a problem. Nowadays, you can use Google to steal someone's identity from the seat of your chair.

I know I forgot to upload the pic to my Flickr account but, if your on this and you've posted your custom built rig on here, and still need your hand held finding an image on the Internet, it kinda looks a little embarrassing. Just my two cents.

Use firefox to open it, because I just tried IE and it gives some stupid Google error message that it cannot be found on their server.

obviously you haven't used firefox.

open firefox >> right click image >> click "set as desktop background"

I guess there are people who can build there system with their eyes closed, but are lazy. Then there are people who can build a system with their eyes closed, but don't know how to post a proper link ;) Googling now :)

Nice setup icemann009.

What do you think of the Syncmaster 2493HM? I have got one, what settings are you using. I was looking for someone with the Syncmaster 2493HM for about 1 month so I could see what settings they are using. It would be very helpful if you could tell me what settings and the ones like Magic Colour what you have them set to.

Thank's

I love the syncmasters. I choose samsung because they have amazing picture quality, color, and minimal to no ghosting. Everytime I go into one of the big box stroes(Best Buy Circuit City etc), you can always tell the samsungs apart from the others without even looking at the logo. The color tones are always on spot and there is no blurring with fast moving images.
And it's true what they say about the electrostatic controls, they're a nice touch and real classy, but if you don't have sunlight or any light for that matter, pouring into the room, you need a flashlight to see the controls.

Here are my settings:

Brightness -> 32
Contrast -> 50
MagicColor -> Off
Color Tone -> Cool

Red -> 29
Green -> 32
Blue -> 50

Color Effect -> Off
Gamma -> Mode2
Coarse -> 2080
Fine -> 0
Sharpness -> 50

Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, a word of advice, Samsung kinda screwed those with ergotron arms when it comes to these monitors. Instead of the standard 100x100mm mounts on the back like they should be, there are 100x200mm rectangular mount areas in the back and you have to get the mounting adapters for it from an ergotron reseller. And if that didn't make things worse, Samsung made the corners of mounting area to rounded off and the silver metal rectangular bars you see behind the 24" don't fit right for the screws to go in.

I had to jerry rig it with some nuts, washers and different screws(which barely fit BTW) bought at home depot to raise up the bar so that it if would fit evenly in order for the mounting arm to go on. I only did this with the 24 because the screws are in so snug, I don't know if the tread inside the monitor is slightly mangled and if I can put the original stand back on.

But, it fits snugly to the arm and can tilt, swivel, and rotate with ease and without feeling like it's coming loose. All in all great investment. Oh yeah, bought it all from NewEgg, and they all came in immaculate condition.

Thank's alot, I will try thoes settings. Did you do anything with the software or just with the OSD.

Just the OSD. I only used the calibration software on the center 26 because I want accurate color in Photoshop, Cinema 4D, After Effects, and Flash CS3.

They are wallpapers printed on photopaper then framed. The inner white border is due to printing them using MS Word.

grizz,

how did you do the diagram? something like this would come in handy for my living room setup with all the wires, etc.

tia

I found the connecters on a Samsung quick reference PDF then did some copying and pasted them into MS Word to size everything right. Then I used MS Paint to make the diagram from scratch. It takes a little bit of time to make them. Granted it isn’t exact to how the rears look but I don't need them to be. Hope this helps :D

Draw it out on paper first, then just find the images like griz said and make some boxes and lines in paint :p
