Sandy Bridge adopters -- post your new build.

Yikes that is close.. I'm thinking I'll run into the same problem with the 212+ and Corsair Vengeance on the MSI P67-GD65 - the distance between socket and memory slots seems to be about the same.

Perhaps I should just stick with the H50 and not worry about trying out a 212+

H50 with good fans > 212+.

Of course a snowstorm had to happen today, the day my 2500K was due to arrive :(.

Oh well, tomorrow it is then.

Q6600(B3)/Maximus Formula (X38)/4GB PC800 DDR2/XFX 5850 Black to

2600K/Asus P8P67 Pro/8GB DDR3 1333/Sapphire 6950

Well, technically I upgraded the video card weekend before last, the Sandy Bridge stuff just arrived today.

Only conundrum is my cooling. I was using a Swiftech Apogee GTX, waiting on the 1156/1155 adapter that won't be here until next week. Guess I'll retire the water cooling in place and go air for the weekend, then tear it down again when the new hold-down plate arrives (which requires I remove the tubing from the block, which requires a drain and fill, which requires a full system teardown to do right).

do you play Battlefield Bad Company 2 at all? fire it up and be amazed at how much your Q6600 was holding you back.

Everything arrived except for the case... no case, no problem!

no_case.jpg

The case should come in tomorrow, but I couldn't wait to get this new build going! Got everything plugged up tight and it fired up without a hitch. Got Windows 7 Ulitmate installed with updates and it's running like a dream! Though all the heatsinks feel cool to the touch, I'm not doing any overclocking till it's secured in a case with proper airflow.

Here is mine:

Specs: (Still under construction)

Intel Core i7 2600 (I wanted to get the K version but none of my local stores were selling them)
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7
4GB G.Skill NQ 1600 DDR3 RAM
Gigabyte ATI Radeon 6850
AeroCool 700 watt PSU
Coolermaster HAF 922

Will add another 4GB of RAM and possibly another 6850 to Crossfire

Wow, I'm amazed so many of you guys are going with 16gig of memory (I'm sure I will go with the same amount in the future).

16gigs is cheap compared to just a year ago. I went 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance and will be buying more later this year depending if Intel ever releases their G3 SSDs.

i7 2600k
hyper 212+
asus p8p67 pro
8gb 1600 corsair vengeance

reused 80g intel x25 and 1tb wd black along with corsair hx520 and 1gb gtx 460.
the thing flies. still trying to figure out the bios but nothing major.

havent dug too much into overclocking yet but just from using the auto asus settings got up to 4.12 by literally clicking 1 button.

As posted in the general hardware forum:

Mine is a Workstation/WoW computer. It will be used for visual studio development, video compression BR--> MKV, wow and general junk.

Stability is my main thing I wanted. I haven't wanted to deal with OCing for a while.

Processor: i7 2600 (not the K version)
Ram: 4x 1GB DDR3 I had laying around
Mobo: Intel DP67DE mATX
Case: Coolermaster Elite 341
Power Supply: SuperMicro 460w
Video Card: Gigabyte ATI 5770
Hard Drive: C300 64GB SSD & 1TB WD Green drive.
Optical Drive: LG HD-DVD/Blu-Ray
OS: W7Pro 64-bit

This system screams... I am going to replace the ram with 2x 4gb when I find a good deal and the wife isn't looking

Homer how are you liking the Asrock board? ANy issues? I'm looking at buying the Extreme6.

only put it together yesterday but there doesnt seem to be any major issues. a couple small things would be that i cant seem to boot off the windows disc i used only a week ago perfectly fine. had to use a downloaded copy with my key. also, i cant seem to set my ssd as the main boot drive, but changing it to my usb hard drive makes it boot just fine off of the ssd.

Only thing I need to buy is an SSD, anyone know of any good deals on Intel drives?

Hah - Apparently I became a Corsair guy for my new build too..

8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 (I ordered 16... thinking I'm going to return 8GB) , Corsair H50 Hydro, Corsair TX850W and I'm waiting for the white version of the Corsair 600T Case.

I was going to put my build in my old Antec 900 but I just decided I want something with better cable management. Corsair FTW! :)

I am using the setup in my sig. Clearance on the hyper 212+ is decent. I have a 38mm deep fan on it, so the first two ram slots are covered. The bottom of the fan is touching the ripjaws heatspreaders. I had to slide the fan up by about one or two fins, but nothing significant.

I think I did fairly well, just ordered this all to replace my e8400/HD4890/4 GB DDR2/Sonata III setup. Constructive criticism welcome, I was going to go i7-2600k but since I'm using it for strictly games it didn't seem worth the $100 or so extra

Case - Coolermaster HAF 922 - $89
CPU/Mobo - i5-2500k + ASUS P8P67 Pro Bundle - $379 Together
CPU Cooler - Coolermaster Hyper 212 - $30
PSU - Corsair TX750W - $99 after MIR
GPU - HIS Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E 2XDVI HDMI 2x Mini DisplayPort Video Card - $279
RAM - Mushkin Enhanced Silverline Stiletto 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1333 - $64.99
Optical Drive - LG GH24LS50 24X Super Multi Lightscribe - $24.99
HDD - Taking my 60 GB OCZ Vertex, WD Green 2 TB and 500 GB Barracuda out of my old computer

Came to $1104 after 12% taxes and $6 shipping

for total price you must be including the items you're bringing over from your old rig. that or you're missing some items. it all looks good to me, similar build to mine.

Oh right. I couldn't figure out what it is, I was missing this

GPU - HIS Radeon HD 6950 2GB - $279

Some real nice builds.

Changed my mind and going with a Corsair H70 Hydro on my build. Been itching to go water and figured it'd be the cheapest way. Going to Lap the H70, add two better fans I have already and go for 5ghz on the 2600K.
