New System (on Air)
i5 2500k
Asus P8Z68-V Pro MB
Asus 560 ti 1GB
Corsair Vengeance 1600C9 1.5v 8GB (Black)
OCZ Vertex 2 120 (from old System)
Corsair HX 850 PS (from old System)
MM UFO case White (from old System)

Old System (on Water)
I7 920
Evga "vanilla" X58 MB
Palit 460 1GB
Mushkin RedLine 2000C8 6GB
OCZ Vertex 2 (used to be 3 30GB Vertex 1's in raid)
Corair HX 850 PS
MM UFO case White

Why the side grade and switch to air ? I got bored with the old system. I needed a change. The old system ran hot and was harder to overclock 24/7.
I did it just in time too, my xspc res-top was cracked to high heaven. It was only a matter of time before it leaked all over.

Not to thread jack, but...
@ sok0 & baldrik : How is the noise level with the H2go ? That case is the perfect size / configuration for what I would like to do (pretty much copy what you have both done), but I really want my new rig to be as quiet as possible.
P.S. nice rigs !!!

Nearly silent, but my fans are only turning at about 1000 rpms and my MCP655 is set between 3 and 4 (any faster and my res starts making an obscene amount of bubbles.../h8 primochill). I had contemplated putting dampening material in it, but I really don't see the need. I will say this though: this is not an easy case to work with. Things have to be installed in a certain order and the number of screws required is kind of ridiculous - 14 for the top, 7 for teh front and 14 more for the back. I'm very satisfied with the result, but I certainly hope I don't have to change an HDD any time soon.

Mine is pretty much dead silent also. I use a mCubed BigNG to with a fan curve to keep the 4/6 fans turned off unless the temp goes above a certain point then all 6 turn on. I also don't use any harddrives, just SSD"s, so there's no noise from them either. The case is definitely a pain the ass with all of the screws as well.

NEW Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24' 1920 X 1200 Monitor

The GPU is the hardest decision I can make right now.

Someone please help with a suggestion.

I pretty much blew my budget with getting the new Dell that just came out at $400. But I had to have it, otherwise it would be pointless to upgrade to another 1920 x 1080. I think atleast.

I really... really want the MSI Lightning Extreme 3GB GTX 580. But thats 600 dollars. Does anyone know of a better card? I tend to prefer Nvidia. Reason being I chose this one is because who knows what the future holds. I can always buy another 3gb 580gtx and I think that would hold me out for a long time.

Thanks.

Haha, my setup is very similar to yours, except:

H50 Cooler w/push-pull config
additional 2x Corsair Nova 128GB RAID0 for game drive. Crucial M4 64GB is for OS only.
Corsair hx750 power supply
Corsair 650D

Everything else exactly the same.

That's very nice setup, tell us about the new dell monitor, i'm planning to get 1 but still waiting for some review. For the video card, I would get 570 GTX to hold off until Kepler arrive 1st quarter next year

I'm thinking of buying the monitor tonight. I notice lots of people are waiting for the reviews. I feel like I should too. I wonder how long... hrmm.

Also - I forgot to add that my case is the Silverstone Raven RV03. I know everyone says the plastic is cheap on the front but that doesn't seem like an issue for its price and awesome air-flow design.

Since you recommend the the 570 GTX I am seriously considering it fully now. The price is HALF and seriously how much of a performance/fps difference would it be? Like maybe 15-20%?

Thanks.

EDIT: Found this card for really cheap. I am thinking it will do great until Keplar comes around. Anyone know the price range Keplar cards will cost? I am building this rig for Skyrim to be played on maximum settings. I think this is the smartest choice for power versus price. Will I be able to use this card with a Keplar card? I doubt I'd ever do 3-way SLI but this does factor into the decision. I'd have to upgrade the PSU to 1200w I know.

EDIT 2: After reading the great review here on hard about F3AR I think for 150 bucks off newegg (link) the 6850 is my best bet to hold me off until the Keplar cards.

I love that system you built & am looking to build almost the exact same thing (might try a Vertex 3 instead of an M4). For video cards, I plan on getting a pair of these (100% Crossfire scaling is pretty amazing), and if you only have enough for one it would work great on almost any game until u can afford a second one. Runs cool & quiet, too!
