The PC elitists loved Crysis 1 cause it pushed their systems, they don't care about storyline.
well the configs reduced the texture pop in a good deal but the textures themselves still look like shit
Yeah, its the Michael Bay of the gaming world.
What if I enjoyed both from Crysis 1? Does that make me elitist & a storyline geek? Even if the graphics suck, some people might find the gameplay to be fun with RAGE (not so sure about the story yet).
Different humans have different opinions, hard to believe i know.
Safe to say this guys having zero popin
Exactly. PC gamers will bitch and moan at the drop of a hat, whereas console players will just play the game for what it is. And this is coming from someone who owns absolutely ZERO consoles...I hate them. But I'm starting to hate the whiny-assed PC gamers more.
If I may... Do any so-called PC gamers here remember this?
"Z_malloc: failed on allocation of 64024 bytes"
If you don't, turn in your gamer card. Games getting released with rather serious bugs is nothing new. Give them a chance to patch this.
Isn't that a 3D texture allocation error? I remember those but I don't recall from what games...
Please oh please go to the Xbox or PS3 forums...you don't need to actually own one to post there. Your not helping anyone by just taking whatever they spoon feed you now days. Most PC gamers are not 13 year old virgin boys (well most aren't)...
I would gladly pay $60+ each for 4-6 high quality release day pc games per year. Even if that means very few games are released. We don't need these studios pushing out 100's of half ass pc ports anymore every year.
They have until I get home from work...
Why would I go to the Xbox or PS3 forums? I just said above that I don't own a single console and I can't stand playing anything on them. And if you don't like PC releases, by all means play the same game on a console...I bet you own one or maybe more. I don't.
And as for console gamers being 13 year old virgin boys...take a walk in Gamestop and look at who's buying all the console games. 95% are in their 20's, some in their 30's.
Here's my canned response from Bethesda asking for my money back like Kyle did on the main page
Thank you for addressing your concerns about RAGE. We're currently working with AMD and Nvidia to update drivers. This should make your gameplay experience more enjoyable. For updates, keep an eye on our official forums <forums.bethsoft.com> and Bethesda Blog <www.bethblog.com>
Thank you for playing our games
Mman hate to agree but when a news site has 5 + stories on one game sucking.. its total fail. The site has lost all credibility. game sucks.. one story, one thread. get on with your "spread my hate to ever corner" feelings.. Its no longer about good/bad its about thinking your own littel world is something I want to join.. Hate it.. no problem. hate it over and over it looks petty. Guess it meand less about Netflix.. i remeber when I loved all the reviews on harware and games performance here (still do) but this petty hate ( justified or not) is sad. If you posted 5 stories about every crap game.. well lets just say there would enver be any hardware news.. so why this specific game.. not even DUKE got this treatment.
I'm so sick of every damn thread being reduced to a console vs. PC bitch fest.
For all those uninformed souls out there, this is the forum site for [H]ardware Overclockers Comparison Page, otherwise known as [H]ardOCP. This means that most of us are PC enthusiasts and we like to push our hardware. If you're not, then GTFO because you're in the wrong place.
PC gamers spend good money on their hardware and have every right to expect nice looking textures and compatibility. When companies that made their living off PC gamers for YEARS (iD is not alone here) and then turn their back on the community by giving us shitware, then it creates a lot of hard feelings.
Expanding to multiple platforms is fine, but if they're going to boast a great PC experience they should at least spend the time and resources to refine it properly.
console only players [i own a wii, 360, ps3 and gaming pc] play the game for what it is because they don't have a choice - you put the disc in and hit play . those are your options
a pc gamer more than likely built the computer s/he is using - they are used to not only tweaking things but getting the very best out of their system
i'm not being supportive of the bitching and moaning - what i am saying is the reason pc gamers expect more is because a sandy @ 4k+ with a 580 and 16gb of ram with some ssd a la carte is a serious investment [time and money] - you'd want the best for it, in and out...
so when a game comes out optimized for 7 year old hardware / it's going to look like ass compared to what's possible on a pc
console players don't deal with eyefinity, or 2560x1600, vsync, AA, or any settings at all, it's like a microwave dinner, tear the plastic off and a few minutes later, enjoy
it only makes sense that pc gamers want more... and complain when they don't get it
anyone who's seen metro 2033 at 1600p with the goodies turned on knows what a game can and should look like, and the game play is right on par
just a ramble, if it's TLR you're probably just impatient
I don't own a single console. As far as the virgin thing goes that is just a generalization, about the same as your "whiny ass pc gamers"...
Apparently for pc gamers were all just bitching whiners, so instead we should shut up and enjoy these buggy consolized games for what they are...does that about sum it up.
meh its all faily ATI cards, ATI and opengl is fucked, I work with and watch closely a source port that is opengl based and ATI is the bane of it and 90% complaints stem from its piss poor compatibility with it, no matter what we do we cant really resolve the issue and it always comes back to their drivers
You opened it, you bought it. Deal with it.
If you really want your money back, go sling the game in FS/FT and pay for your stupid tax.
I personally learned my lesson when Doom came out and didn't initially support my Gravis Ultrasound properly, I had to wait until 1.2 to listen to the awesomeness that was wavetable midi in the 90s.
I'll buy the game when the highres and bug patch is released.
You just proved my point. While everyone is on here bitching about Rage PC, console players are probably sitting at their house actually playing the game.
When is the last time a game came out and there haven't been 30+ pages of "this sucks", "that sucks" and "this whole game is epic fail!" in the PC Gaming section of this forum? I can't think of one.
Got the same canned response. What address did yours come from? Mine came from: firstname.lastname@example.org
id software has practically no reputation these days anyways. id hasn't been a serious player when it comes to games since Quake 3; they haven't been a serious player when it comes to middleware since Unreal Engine 3.
On his own, Carmack is not capable of anything. He is nothing without his team; we are very far past the days of one guy making a cutting edge engine, and my impression is that he has never been particularly interested in games past the technology that powers them. The best way to get people with complimentary skillsets to make something groundbreaking? Form a business. Rage was not made by Carmack - it was made by id.
Nobody is going to listen to that message. If they were going to listen, then Rage wouldn't have come out playing the way it does. I've got PC Gamers from 1994 bitching about poor console ports. The only votes that count - dollars.
Games are several orders of magnitude more complex today than they were back then. I'm surprised most of these games even exist in the first place - the stuff we can do these days is mindblowing.
I don't even agree with their hardware reviews, because too much opinion comes into it. Highest playable settings for BF3 for the 580 are.... antialiasing on, motion blur off? 40 frames per second is a playable frame rate? Vsync is 60. 60fps is always the target. Setting the fan on your graphics card to 100% seems to be acceptable to these guys, so they can push the overclock a bit higher and get an extra 2% improvement on framerates. I guess those extra fractions of a fps will improve your gaming experience more than enough to offset the noise from the jet engine you parked next to your feet.
The only opinion that counts when it comes to hardware is mine. If I'm reading reviews, I want nothing but hard numbers that are directly and easily comparable - not just within a given comparison review, but across every review you've ever done. Anandtech does it right, Hardocp does not. I only come here because whereas Anand generally ignores graphics cards after the initial launch (and lately has been spending way too much time talking about phones), H will still bring in new ones to test as they come out. I never would have known about the 6950 Toxic without this site.
This was the reply I got to my email:
FFS, it's been proven over and over again that canned benchmarks provide no real world comparison.
LOL...wut? So us wanting to play the same game on the pc without bugs, glitches, max graphics, etc. like consoles makes us whiners? Do I want to be on here complaining, no. You don't like the thread then just don't click on it...
The only point I see you making is just shut up and take it...maybe you should buy a console then you can feel all superior to us pc gamers.
Possible POPUP Rage Texture Fix
This doesn't even make sense. Are you saying there is a scenario that exists in the real world that would make an out of the box GTX 560 significantly faster than a 6970, that I could easily replicate for my own benefit? Why spend $400 on a graphics card when I could magically extract better performance from a $200 card that is only about 75% as fast in benchmarks across the board!
I saw that. I will give it a shot when I get home and post back.
2004 for doom 3.
lol @ the flat pipe texture. Must be some inefficient plumbing in that bitch
on second glance, those look like cables, point still stands though
is this real life ?
So is the game itself bad or is it the bugs and glitches that are making it bad.. and once fixed the game will be good? I pre ordered the game on Steam but I didn't pre-load and I'm thinking of using my "one time only per account" refund on Rage... unless there is actually a good game here once the problems are ironed out.
yup he definitely set us back 5-10 years
Sigh. PC-only gamer, ex-member of the cult of Carmack. Been playing less games over the last 2-3 years, but I saw the Rage demo at PAX East in March, and it got me pumped up for this... sad to hear that it's such a disappointment.
Keyboard + Mouse FOREVER!
You've got to remember that most of the people posting have pre-ordered the game and have high expectations for their $60. This is a game that was made for the consoles and lets face it ID isn't known for their storylines and what not.
I hear that the game is actually fun, just not fifty or sixty dollars worth. I'll pick the game up once it hits $20. By then the bugs will be fixed too.
I paid around $30 and it seems fun enough for that.
Accept the game doesnt actually look that good outside, at least not for me
^ Using the recent "fixes" too
Why would you infer such a thing? That's retarded. Real life gameplay differs from canned benchmarks, even shitty sites like THG have shown this.
