The digital edition design is starting to grow on me (though I still think it will be a dust/fingerprint magnet) and it looks so much better than the drive-based PS5. I'm surprised they didn't just include a USB-based external Blu-ray drive as an add-on and keep the slim aesthetic default. All in all, I do prefer the stout cube design of the XSX.
The game reveal themselves - nothing that will make me buy day one. Sorta surprised that the Demon's Souls remaster will have a 'quality' and 'performance' mode setting. Figured that was a stop gap solution for the mid-cycle consoles (PS4 Pro and Xbox One X) until the next gen came in with everything running 60fps @ high IQ. I see that the 'cartoon-y aesthetic' is here to stay for this generation, not that I mind, I think the Nintendo-ish looking art-styles look great.

I wouldn't put any faith into those prices. I doubt anyone outside Sony knows what the price is. Hell Sony themselves probably don't even know what they will price it at this MS releases theirs.Price for the PS5 has leaked on Amazon France, 499€ for the one with optical drive and 399 € for the digital only https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20200617_04993502
Waiting on scalpers to promise their preorder on eBay for anyone who pays them $1,500.There have been a few placeholder prices that have popped up on various Amazon websites. They've ranged from $499-$699 so far.
I find the pricing silence between Sony and MS to be pretty amusing. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before and it's not like pre-orders for both systems won't sell out immediately anyway.
So......the day after Cyberpunks new release date?rumored launch date- November 20th...
Give me a price and a way to lock it down so I'm not having to do dumb things to get one on/around launch day. That's all I want.
My strategy will be to just pre-order both on Amazon the moment they go live.
I haven't decided yet if I even want either of the consoles.... but given that Amazon doesn't charge before shipping, there is no harm in pre-ordering and then using the time leading up to launch to make my decision.
I have zero interest in MS's system, but I definitely want a PS5. Preferably the disk one (I want a movie player), but I'll take either.
The knock on Amazon pre-ordering is actually that policy. Loads of people essentially lock them down but end up not getting them. Don't hate the player, hate the game...I know.
I'd actually rather people have to have some skin in the game so they can't do that.
Ugh, so "playstation now" again.Sony patent hints at cloud-based emulation of previous consoles.

I would really like that to be real. Black at least helps hide their stupid design a little better.
I doubt it's real though. Looks extremely photoshopped.
I couldn’t care less what’s in the Xbox if the games suck.At the moment, I'm the opposite. I'm much more interested in Microsoft's offering, purely for their touted 4K upscaling and HDR being applied to all BC titles. That's a massive draw for me. Their first party offerings I can get on PC, but there is a wealth of older titles that I can't magically make HDR on PC. If this works, and works well, i'm sold. As for PS5, my only interest is in first party titles (again, anything I can get on PC, I will). The stuff they showed off already doesn't really interest me, so again we're back to how their BC looks. If I can play my existing PS4 library AND get a better experience on PS5, i'd buy one at launch. If the titles aren't improved, then i'll just hold onto my PS4 until Sony pushes out some titles that interest me.
It calls that out in the article, and it's supposedly from an actual marketing slide from a Sony presentation.
It does look photoshopped, and a black console could be a reaction to the negative reception the white one got, and it's just not manufactured yet.

Yeah I have reading comprehension issues apparently.Wut? You're quoting my comment about the Xbox's supposed backwards compatibility claims (which apply to ALL titles, not just MS first party). Whether or not you like MS's games doesn't seem relevant to what you are quoting (unless you think every multi-platform game also sucks).
If they released this with a modern version of SOCOM..forget it.
I don't get it why does anyone buy a new console on release? At least wait until there are at least two worthy AAA titles on it
I automatically assumed everyone on H has a PC. For the general public I understand. I mean I've played two games on the PS4 that I think was worth getting a console for, over the entire generation, the rest were totally missable. And now that number has reduced to 1, because HZD will now be on PC, so I basically bought a PS4 PRO for one game. Not a great investment. That's why I'm even more on the fence if I ever get a PS5.I think it's safe to say most of the AAA yet to come this year will be on them. There won't be many exclusives, but that doesn't mean the cross-gen games won't be a better experience on the new consoles. For those who want their games the best they can be (and don't PC)... getting a new console is the means to that end.
