Specs in sig. Klipsch ProMedia 2.1s as you can see, rigged to a Chaintech AV710. 2nd pic of the sub. LG Flatron and Acer AL1914 19" LCD monitors. Just a crappy wireless keyboard and mouse from Logitech, getting replaced soon.

I had that reciever for almost 5 years and loved it until i bought my new yamaha. Brother has it now and its still going strong. I originally got it from my dad who bought it new when it came out over 10 years ago

Yeah, I bought it in college...during Sony's heydays. It's obsolete for surround sound, but still works great for stereo.

I love the backlit multifunction keys and the built-in graphic equalizer. :D

So I just some of the famous Insignia speakers from Best Buy... crazy thing is I like their warm sound over my Boston's bright sound. It'll change here one of these days when I buy some Monitor Audio B2's or BR2's (yet to decide).

Anyways, here's my setup:

Marantz SR7500 7.1 receiver with 105 watts per channel
Boston Acoustics Micro 90x (speaker A fronts)
Insignia NS-B2111 front speakers (speaker B fronts)
Boston Acoustics Center Sat 7 (front center)
Boston Acoustics Micro 80xII (rears - not shown)
M&K MX-105 (subwoofer - not shown)

I guess I don't understand what you're talking about...

I have 5 speakers just for fronts and I have two rears. For a 5.1 system and a 2.0 system combined. I am not "wasting" any wattage of any sort. It's the best investment I have ever made IMHO. It sounds great and I use it to power everything in my room.

This thread is great. I've been inspired to dump my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system for a real PC audio setup. I'll post pics when everything is set up in a few days.
 
Yep, it's a microwave on my AV rack. I'm in a dorm room at the moment so I have to make use of all the space I have! I don't have the microwave plugged into anything else with electronics though. It plus right into a different outlet which is probably the same circuit but at least it's not plugged into the Monster Power Conditioner.

Thanks for the comment on the flexi. I built it last December and cost me roughly 100 dollars worth of parts. Salamander Designs sells a flexi very similar for 250 dollars and that's the plain old black model last time I checked.

I realized that I could hook up my Insignia speakers not as Speaker B which ran off the front circuitry, but I could hook them up as the last two speakers in the surround sound set (6 and 7 in a 7.1 setup) and still be able to switch with the A/B button but they get their own dedicated amps. I'm happy about that. I could do Multi Channel Stereo next time I have a party and every single speaker in here (all 7 plus subwoofer) would have it's own amp!

Oh well, silly me, no parties on a "quiet floor" :( although during non-quiet hours it's the same as any old dorm floor so I could have loud music during the middle of the day. :p

Dont worry, I moved the Rotel preamp there only for the pic. If I let it stay when the amp goes on Class A bias, the preamp will be cooked!

got meh some new logitech z-4i's. gotta say that im very pleased with the bang for the buck. They look clean, sound great, and weren't that big of a hit on the wallet.....pics:

I cant find the rest of my pictures, I only have one subwoofer in the shot.. Came out to around $700.00 for the subwoofers, and somewhat large bookshelf speakers (2x sealed 10 woofers, 1.5" tweeters). It either came down to a 21" LCD or a subwoofer, and I was getting rather frustraited by my 8". I figured, I might as well go big and do something stupidly oversized. I present to you : one of the twins

If I wernt living in an apartment, I would have BF2 open right now, with the amplifiers volume knob up to about 3/4. No complaints from the neighbors, ive talked to one and asked if the music was too loud, he said "nope". Just keep the noise to a reasonable level, and dont have your music/game cranked up to the point where it feels like your couch is moving across the flor.

Each have one 6" port tuned to ~14hz, I cant remember for sure, but I beleive they are about 650L of volume each, with one 15" 800W driver in the bottom. If anyone is mildly interested in knowing more/why, PM me... Im not going to sort through 20 pages of replies to see if someone quoted me or not.

Oh my. If I didn't absolutely need a new monitor, I'd be building a set like that. Dorm room or no dorm room :D

 
Been wanting to post in this thread for ages but kept putting it off - not owning a digital camera had something to do with it, I think, but a recent purchase of a Canon Powershot S3 IS now completes the... dare I say it... picture. :D

20" iMac on the left, Samsung 205BW on the right. Using Parallels with XP, the right monitor runs/shows XP normally - it's the best of both worlds.

I love the Z-10's, I really do, I just wish Logitech wouldn't be screwing over anyone that doesn't use Windows. The display only works with Windows, bastiges. I posted at the Logitech support forums hoping they'd release the info to maybe code the proper app or whatever to control the display under OSX but they simply ignored me.

I was originally hooked on the Klipsch 2.0 Ultras (no need for a subwoofer with these Z-10's or those, and I don't listen to music/play games at extreme volumes anyway), but the first time I heard these babies at Best Buy a few weeks back, I knew I was takin' 'em home. Simply extraordinary sound quality.

If anyone happens to find out what LCD/controller these speakers use and might be able to hack up a driver or applet for OSX that will allow the song info to be displayed or any other data that you get under Windows, I'd be grateful forever - might even offer a bounty of sorts to a coder that can make it happen.

You dont have to go quite as stupidly oversized as I did, mine belong in a room the size of a theatre, and not a studio apartment. A (good) sealed 10 or 12 would be plenty to rattle things in neighbors room, but there wouldnt be much for the low end. All speakers are a compromise, I dont care what you think. I compromised space and efficency to get low freq response, and fairly smooth response from ~15-20ish upwards to 80. It actually cost less for the materials to build these big mofos, than it would have to build a *good* sealed box.

Only reason I went this big, I knew after moving to an apartment, it would be at least 10 years if im lucky, before I could afford to rent or even attempt to purchase a house. What if I got married? Id be screwed! The pre-college/apartment years are the best times to do these types of things. Do it now, you wont regret it :).

Yeah, I do love 'em, really. Touchscreen faceplate is pretty cool also, but since I have all the necessary audio stuff on the Apple keyboard I rarely have to reach for 'em. But they just sound soooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooood... :)

Wish Logitech would offer some information, I really do.

Too bad I paid for it all in cash. I choose to buy used books for school and instead blow it on audio gear. I'm almost done though, I'm nearing the top of what I can do with my gear.

Next up... Rogue Tube preamplifier to smooth out the sound.

It's probably better than any Krell under the $10,000 mark, or so most audio dealers tell me. However, lets not forget that Krells have those 700FPB and the Evolution series that go for about $40,000.

The Rotel? It goes to the garbage. Goodbye Rotel Rb1090 dual monoblock 380w Class AB amplifier... *dumps out to trash*.... *thud*.

those speakers would be absolutlly amazing if they had a sub but they have some good bass without one
