it's capable of 480i and 1080i..

so it can take upto 1920x1080...but without adjusting timings on it, it is little fuzzy for text reading so i leave at 1024x768

Both, me and my girlfriend live in a 1 bedroom apartment and since we only have 1 airconditioner we basically live in the bedroom, the living room is empty. We have a bigscreen tv, 2 computers, a queen size bed, and this speaker setup, all in one room

It was cool... but I had really no use for it at the time. I sold it to someone on the forums a while back but since I am not using a reciever in my main setup anymore, I could use a volume knob right about now. heh. I asked the guy if he still has it... he said he uses it as a nightlight. haha

Okay, Here it is!

Speakers are Sony MB-150s

Receiver is a Yamaha RX-V795A
Headphones is a Sony Noise Cancelling MDR-NC8

I am on my spare PC right now because My main rig needs a CPU and a Case. My Spare rig, only has a regular Sound Blaster 128. Once I get my main rig fixed I'll be on a
Audigy 4.

I got the Receiver for nearly nothing ($10 to be exact) at a local garage sale. It was in mint condition. Remote and everything. I looked up the retail price on the Receiver for when it was introduced,
and it came out to be $800 in ealry 2000. I have enjoyed it greatly!

*EDIT* I just realized how bad the stereo looks in that pic! It does not look anything like that, I think the lens on my Camera is dirty.
I will clean the lens and to make sure, I will clean the stereo also.
Then I will change that last pic.

Yes I agree with you. I just am a on a very low budget. Someday when I have a real job I will upgrade my headphones. I am about to upgrade my speakers and Receiver. I will post new pics once I upgrade. Don't know what I will get yet except it will have to be $300 or lower for the receiver. I have picked out my speakers, The Infinity Primus 150. If any of you would like to make a sub-$300 receiver suggestion, please do!

Otherwise, the big ones are my one and only babies.

The 3 speaker pairs you see are:
1. Klipsch B2 ($250), my brother's speakers for his PC
2. Polk LSi9 (the red bookshelves, $1000), my other pair of PC speakers
3. Martin Logan Summit Electrostatic speakers ($11,000), my true reference speakers

i think that festival deserves to drive some better speakers than the E30s..

i bought the E20s and the E30s (both were $50/pr @ frys), i ended up returning the E30s due to how ginormous they were, and the very little bass gained over the E20s.. they were serious underperformers.

maybe get some onix x-ls?

The 9s are very good speakers.... run them with a super amp and you got yourself a good system. Very coherent and very good with fleshing out the nuances between instruments. I wouldnt pass the 9s if you can get them cheaper than the RS6.

Subs? Nah.... not on these. Subs are expensive since I like the better than run of the mill stuff. Velodyne DD12 is over $2K alone.

dunno why you would buy velodyne..? a $1000 hsu or SVS can easily outclass a velodyne twice as expensive

Not really. I've had several SVS and an HSU... to me, they arent very good. You cant mess with the DD. Aside from the DD with its servo control and sms-1 system, the Martin Logan Descent-i should be killer also.

Sold all my SVS subs.

Yup... it's a college setup. Basically, it's about $15,000 of audio into one room. And believe me, it sounds RIDICULOUS. Ever played XBox360 through $10,000 speakers? It's pretty nuts to say the least.

In order for me to go full HT, I need to get the $4,000 ML Stage and $2,000 for surround ML Fresco speakers. I also need a subwoofer, perhaps the Descent-i for $3,000 or the Velodyne DD18 for $4,000.

Sometime in the future, my system will be complete.

Or I could just keep the Logans as purely stereo and go with a Klipsch THX2 HT system, it's not too much, only about $6,000 for the whole 5.1 shabang.

But once you go electrostats, it's sooo hard to go back to conventional speakers IMO.

I work hard and I play hard. All this didnt happen overnight you know. I didnt just wake up and decide that I wanted $10,000 speakers. I started from a pair of Cyber Acoustics $29.99 PC speakers that had a 4" sub and I thought I was KING of the WORLD. Then I moved up to $50 PC speakers, then to $100 Philips ones, then to the Klipsch 4.1 $200 ones. Then I started to move up to real speakers... I just kept buying and selling for little loss.

Then I began to put more and more money into the audio gear - as I accumulated cash from summer jobs and what not. Then before you knew it, I had enough to get the lower end Martin Logans, then the middle end, then the top of the line Summits.

The thing you have to understand about audio is it is NOT like the PC/Car hobby where you buy at a premium and sell for a loss. In audio, if you buy good solid gear at used prices, usually you will NOT lose money on resale.

So if you start with good gear and you slowly upgrade along the way while adding more money each time, you'll get to some pretty high end stuff within 3-4years. I started into this audio hobby 4 years ago exactly this month. In September of 2002, my GF bought me the Klipsch 4.1 that started everything.

Buy used, sell at same price. Keep adding on along the way.
