Actually, the cleanest way to do that kind of mod is to use double-sided adhesive pads. You can find packages of square ones at hardware stores. Stick one side on the fan center and the other to the heatsink. Press down a little and you're done.

Stays on solid with my 7800GT/80mm Panaflo.

just for staind.

My case had a Green power light, and Orange Hard Drive light, No temperature monitor, and an ugly azzzz gray metal plate at the front of my rig above my fan controller.
(See first pic below)

Rather than removing the gray plate and leaving it open for air-flow, I decided black mesh would work better.

I then raped a piece of garbage Aspire case that was rotting in my closet for the mesh, 4 nice cool-blue LED's, and the temp. monitor.....also blue. :D

This pic is after the temp monitor was installed - but BEFORE light changes and mesh swap:

Ohhhhhhh........

You really only want the ghetto stuff?

I was under the impression that taking anything computer related, using a little ingenuity, and slapping a mod together qualified for this thread.

I can scratch up the front panel and break the mini-lcd if that would help my cause. :p

Using duct tape is a sure fire way of making a Ghetto Mod.

What to do when you don't have neoprene pads, router, drillpress or sandpaper? Masking tape, encyclopedia, socks:

Why is the screwdriver there? Its to power up my computer because I can't find a switch to startup my computer :D

I see you're enjoying that P180 that used to be mine.

I dunno if this is exactly ghetto, but I made it from some 3mm green LEDs I had sitting around and a 4.5 volt wallwart

So yeah, it was really hot today and I didn't have a working fan.

120mm fan overvolted to 24V, an old PSU, and scotch tape fixed that:

I had to tape the mousepad to my desk aswell because it was blowing away. This thing is LOUD and puts out a shit ton of air.

Is it just me or do all these ghetto mods come with ghetto picture quality too? lol

I used to have a bedfan like that. 2x120mm w/ a pos compusa psu. used zip ties to hang the fans off grilles front back. Great way to staycool at night.

Here's an old 9600 I decided to turn into an active cooling card.

Now here's the fun part.
What do you do when Yate Loon D12SL's are on sale for $2 ($8 without sale price)? Why, you buy them.

What do you do with your brand-new Yates? You put them in your case.
What do you do when your case doesn't have 120mm holes? You ghetto mod.

Sure, its louder. Sure, its got an open intake blowing air from my hard drive into the main chassis. Was it worth it? Probably not. Was it fun doing it? Kind of.

Sure as hell didn't buy $4 worth of Yate Loons just to have them collect dust. Good stuff in either case.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

shouldn't you be using your ram in the yellow/yellow, or red/red slots to utilize Dual Channel?

I am. I just moved the stick because I had to move some stuff around. If I kept it in the dual channel slots while moving stuff around in the case, they got in the way. Didn't feel like grabbing an anti-static bag for the sticks.

I would also like to note my temperatures are cooler than ever. I've roughly dropped 5-10C everywhere.

Ignore the whacked out naming scheme, but bring your attention to the core temperatures (they're accurate). Whereas Prime struggles to hit 45, I used to hit 45 in regular gaming. That's with the Intel stock cooler as well, and some dubious AS5 application.
