it used to turn on for about 2 secs... then it stopped having the ability to charge... so now its completely SOL.

w/ battery power it can take pics, but the screen wont work. i can dial out, but i cant hear them. they could dial in, but i couldnt hear them. fortunately bluetooth still worked so i could grab all of my pics and movies...

That is like a pimp's car in the ghetto. It only belongs in the ghetto because it shows off the bling of somebody who knows what the ghetto is all about but no longer has to live there!

You still only get 1 food stamp from me because that case is perfectly fine and it's a creative, functional mod that let's it cool the CPU a little better maybe.

For more FS's, you could swap your "pipeline" with flexible dryer venting, work in some duct tape, change the top intake fan to a plain 80mm, etc. but that would screw up a pretty decent mod.....

To get better cooling on my fan, I Jerry Rigged on a Fan:

My take on the box pc:

A bit messy

This is the same as the caseless pc a few pages ago, posted by me. Finally got some flat black paint for the chassis, but didn't want to risk the caseless setup again, so this'll be the new temporary home.. :p

Hi, ive been lurking on these forums for a wile thought i'd post somthing funny as a first post!

I was a bit stuck when my USB micro hub POS started overheating (too higher power requirements), i needed a quick fix, so using anything to hand i constructed a passive cooling fix... worked a treat ...

hubheatsink.jpg

Staples and a paperclip

Devilfish

strip the paper clip and get a heatpipe on there :p

just protect the exposed soldered parts on the board...

Here's my ducting mod to allow me to use my case inside the tower cubby in my desk.

Duct-Side.jpg

This is the side of the duct with it in place on the case, it's a simple UPS priority box that I've cut down a bit to allow it to fit on my case, in the front is an opening in the box allowing my 120mm blowhole to dump air into the box.

Duct-Flap2.jpg

In the rear I cut a slot with a flap which sticks out past the rear wall of my cubby deflecting the air upwards from the duct.

This way there is no warm air being dumped into the cubby and since the front fans are pretty low flow there's enough air coming into the cubby by way of the 2.5" dia. hole cut into it for cable routing and the rear fans under my rads are also intakes. That's why I built the deflector into the rear of the duct.

Don't have pics but all I did was remove the fan/heatsink cover off my 7800GTX and installed a vantec slot cooler with dual fans one slot below and it dropped load temps from 76 to 59.

one of these is what I'm talking about.
No way to read the whole thread so if somebody else did this......sorry for the double.

Amazing!!

decided to show off my ghetto mod, it was in another thread, but I believe it earned it to be in here :D

Picture001.jpg

Its my air vent that brings in all the cool air from the A/C in the Summer.

Naerly 4 am and I just read this entire post.

To start off you guys are crazy, at least those who mod..

My x300 began to overheat and lock on bf2. it has a POS passive hs, so my uber ghetto mod was to take s ome double sided tape and mount a fan right over it.

It's not that ghetto, it looks like it belongs and works well.

anyway. I remember making my first cardboard box case when I was in 7th grade (7 years ago?)

Sick things were made...gj guys

the cpu has a

coolermaster 100% copper HS --> Thermal take duct mod --> smartfan II --> evercool duct --> coolermaster Jet7 blower

kinda ghetto but works really well, my cpu idles at 33C (2500@3200) and under a load it goes to 39C

no too ghetto, its actually pretty sweet

i also have that case

ah what the hell... here's the my XPS SFF Ghetto mod. :D lol. It's
not much bigger than a notebook and I have a switch for power and lights
as well as leds for power and hd activity. I have added another fan right above the
cpu since P3 1ghz cpus run a little hot and because the case is
so small.

we were throwing out some old P3 rack mounted servers today at work
so I decided to gut them. I didn't have a spare case... but I did have a
couple of nice XPS boxes leftover from my new laptop. :p I was originally
going to use the dual P3 motherboard but it was a little too big so I went
with the single. The dual rig is going to be used for XPS part 2 at the bottom. :)

I noticed that you have two fans blowing from eachother, that's not soo good for cooling...
Turn one around!

i really don't know what's wrong with the cam. it's an old ass cam, so maybe thats it, but the pics should be better than that. i'm looking for drivers for it now, maybe that'll help.

Hey I have that monitor. Compaq MV520. Still r0x0rs for it's age.

Get one with a CCD sensor. CMOS sensor cameras = crap.

after xmas/car insurance/better hard drive/ rent MAYBE i'll get a new cam.

I don't ever use this one, i had to pull it out of the closet.

I think magnetik should be disqualified. The cardboard is nice and shiney, everything is placed neatly and organized, there's no eletcrical or duck tape and no pregnant barefoot lady missing 1/2 her teeth holding it.

hey I got electrical tape on there! :p

When I ordered my watercooling parts, I thought I'd save a few bucks by getting a clearance Swiftech MCW50 vga cooler that works with geforce4 and older cards. However, I have a 6600. Do the holes line up? No, of course not. Was I too cheap to order the adapter plate? Of course. What to do, what to do.

pix00102og.jpg

That old heatsink is still good for something.

pix00118so.jpg

Since it was too thick to use my nibbling tool, I had to drill out a bunch of holes to hollow out the square. My hands were severely cut up from trying to hold that heatsink while drilling.

pix00128db.jpg

Viola! One custom adapter. Now, with all the extra hardware that comes with my parts, I was able to piece together some bolts and springs to clamp it down.

I'm not sure weather I should call that ghetto or ingenious!
