LMFAO! I cannot believe you used paper. I just can't believe it... Worst mod ever!! :D :D

haha, you might be starting the paper sleeving revolution.

The ramen n00d13 ducts was big

this may be the next big thing in g[H]3tt0 modding

i decided to take out the fan blowing on my video card and replace it with a duct, temps only increased by 2-3c :)

edit: its getting colder here and temps are actually 2-3c COOLER even with my video card overclocked slightly

I once had my power supply duct taped to the top of my case to allow room for the 2nd 80mm fan on the Tower112 CPU heatsink by Thermaltake. Don't have a picture anymore, sorry.

This is the "All-Natural Ghetto Mod," natural because I let the environment around my 900mhz duron system naturally modify my heatsink.

games.jpg

And It wouldn't be ghetto if i didn't smoke the shit in the fan.

New sink old fan, "punch modded" the fan into the heatsink.

hi all,
since my major mods are on hold now due to lack of components, i thought why not go in the cellar and contibute something to this thread ;)

after a first look there was no need to mod something, a true ghetto piece was already lying there:

this are the gut's i'm tempted to use for my fileserver project (one of the major mods)
intel celeron 400, for a first test boot i screwed everything on a scrap piece of plexi.

gs1.JPG

way to long screws and zip ties for the psu

gs2.JPG

i didn't tap the holes for the mobo standoffs, i only drilled the hole than heated up the standoffs and screwed them in.
gs3.JPG

i need to do a bit more research for this project but stay tuned ;)

But since it's sunday and i'm bored i decided to mod something.

goals: some unique mod, cheap, very cheap, since i'm lazy today i should been done within 30 mins

here we go:
this is my testbox, nr.3 in sig.
so why not mod it with a window.
gw1.JPG

since it would be way to much effort removing the dremel out of its box i need a easier way.
i meassured an a4 area on the side panel, truly ghetto with a a4 sheet hold in place.
gw2.JPG

which leaded me to the following photo of the guts
gw3.JPG

since the printer isn't realy ghetto i used a ghetto quality setting for the print
gw4.JPG

first test fitting of the new "window"
gw5.JPG

since it's a ghetto mod, only rusty screws should be used

rofl wtf, lmao. ghetttttoooo

Okay, my sister sit right next to the back of my computer. It's blowing out cold air on high so she was complaining. So I made two vents. One for the 120 and one for the 80. Both of the vents are 80mm so the 120 doesn't get covered all the way. The 120 one is made from pop-tarts boxes and duct tape (red though!) and the psu one is from cheez-it boxes and duct tape. It orginally had mesh taped on but the air was so hot it almost started to melt. And that's bad, so I took it off.

Both, but sideways
img07203ec.jpg

PSU vent with mesh, which is gone now.

Now let me tell you another story. I got this cd out of an old workstation computer and it was missing thefront plate. To make it look cooler I glued an old modem sticker on there.

Above that yo ucan see my $5 cup holder/car power panel. I got it at geeks.com for sale. Now i don't like liquids or fire near my computer so I put tape over the holes and turned it into a spare screw/jumper holder.

Get one with a CCD sensor. CMOS sensor cameras = crap.

not ALL CMOS cameras are.. the Cannon EOS Digital Rebel SLR uses a CMOS, and it takes kick ass pictures, it better for freaking $1300CAD

Not mine, but of the SVFrag 2K6 Case Mod winner (he won that PSU you see on the side)

OMFG ROFL!!!

i didnt really think about it at the time, but my effin monitor cable just dropped a pin and everything was all blue -- i was too cheap to buy another, so I used a pin and jabbed it into the missing hole and then clipped it to length and have a decent video connection...

NIce. I've had cables drop pins before, especially old ones. Though, since the pin trick is pretty common knowledge: 2.5 foodstamps.

I've got it at 461 / 770... so I'm pretty happy :p

THE BEST MOD EVA!! I'm literally going to do that for my Compaq, but I'm going to photoshop 2 x 7800GTX's, with a Intel based mobo with 6 slots of ram and see if anyone notices anything... how should I say it... odd...

It's cute, but it's time to move up the size ladder for a new case.

My comments on the development of this thread in the last couple of months.

To the paper cable sleeves guy: Dude, didn't you have any saran wrap?
Saran wrap=Top quality clear cable sleeving that's easy to customize!

SFF guy is nice on the actual usability of his mod. That's really not a bad idea except that the hdd's pretty vulnerable hanging outside.

Best damn Dell laptop I ever saw.

Does the ghetto H2O adapter work well enough to make water cooling better than air?

Early on it was stated that naked does not equal ghetto mod. Put those things in a shoe box and take a pic.

This may just be me, but when I saw the orange eMachine I was like, "OK. So he's got an orange eMachine side panel, a suitcase handle on the top and a crooked side window. So what?" ---It wasn't until I later actually looked a quoted pic of the "mod" that I realized what was going on.

...which leads me to my last point

FOR GOD'S SAKE--STOP QUOTING THE PICS!!!

Best damn forum thread on the internet. Hands down.

saran wrap defies my whole purpose of the sleeving. I do NOT want to see my psu wires and paper happened to be the appealing solution for me at this time :)

my dad would prolly ask me wtf i wanted to do with colored paper when i ask him to take me to the store, then proceed to rant about how i should study instead of playing with toys ( which is my computer ) in his eyes. :( happens EVERYTIME i ask for something for my comp, cant wait until i get a job :-D

anyways, i dont wana interrupt on this thread again, until i bust out some more cardboard. i wana see some more ghetto mods :)
