Payday 2

Holy Crap! :eek::eek::eek:

I don't remember the first one being nearly as popular. Of course the numbers and community will drop off significantly after the first week/month, but hot damn! It's only mid-day.

Maverick, I had one. All gone now, sorry ultimate.

I wouldn't mind a key or two for a buddy and myself. :)

When's this coming out again?

Edit: I guess today! GMG has 20% off coupon for anyone that doesn't feel like paying $29.99. GMG works on steam in case anyone hasn't ever used it.

Curious too. I heard the original was very clunky when it came to gunplay. Can anyone confirm if they improved this aspect of the game?

Way better than the first one. Wasnt a big fan of the first payday. but if you really hated it then its still probably not for you.

i do like the feel of the guns as well. the first payday gunplay was a bit bland.

It's not THAT different from the first one in terms of what you actually do. Actually it's pretty identical. However, the graphics, gunplay, and mechanics are WAY better in Payday 2.

That's what I wanted to hear. I liked the premise of the first, but the reviews/videos made it look clunky. So if they kept the premise and improved the feel of the game, it's probably up my alley. Sure as hell beats battling endless waves of zombies.

watching the IGN video review, there are places where the game looks like an N64 game. But I'll try it anyway because I think of a game like Left4Dead and if I didn't know better I'd assume it looked clunky too, when the real juice is in fact in the gameplay.

The graphics aren't really cutting-edge but it looks good enough for what it is.

Keep in mind it's only a $30 title, as well.

Exactly and Overkill/Starbreeze does a great job of making games priced right and ensuring the best possible bang for your buck.

i havent actually played with anyone yet just the offline crime.net stuff, mostly the jewelry store. It is fun, none of my friends PC game lol.

Would be nice tho if the AI would actually pick up bags and such instead of just shooting and reviving,

I played the Beta and Its great. Its a great game for those that don't give a shit about competition anymore.

Surprisingly, almost every single random person I've played with has done pretty well, too (not an idiot/troll/etc). People tend to band together pretty good in this game, better than in other games. Probably because you only get paid if you actually work together? What a concept.

Awesome game, even better than the first in every way. Graphics, sound, animations, models, everything is just better.

One thing I was a little disappointed with was the pre-order "extra money" bonus. I think it was like, what, $25,000? Which is PENNIES in this game. Seriously, it should have been like 100k or more to be significant. I do like the mask, color scheme, and military sight bonuses, though. Plus we get the Armored Car DLC. :)

Agreed, the 25K is relatively insignificant in the big scheme of things. I guess Overkill did this to keep people from complaining about it being P2W...

Since you own the CCE as well, have you noticed the crime.net discount on weapons? They advertised a 25% discount, but I'm not seeing that anywhere

I never played the first one, but I LOVE how the guns feel in this game. They have real weight behind them and the recoil feels realistic. Animations are also great.

Pretty good stuff coming from a small dev studio, puts Call of Duty to shame, really.

Agreed, they did a damn fine job. One of my favorite pistols so far is the Bernetti 9 (Beretta M9), the trigger pull and accuracy is top-notch, can't wait till I get the professional suppressor mod installed

Actually I only have the standard version (so it's not really P2W since it was just a pre-order bonus and you can't actually buy money in the game), but from eBay I hear it is an automatic 10%-ish discount on everything you buy. I don't think it's 25%.

Yes, I think the AK is $10800 vs $12000 in CCE -> 10% discount. I really wished for a bit more, but then people who'll spend 100h on a game will complain about how I'm a loser and why do I want to make the game even easier and omg you're destroying the game (answer: because I'm probably only going to play 10-20h max due to 'life', and I'd like to see more than the first few weapons/maps/whatever).

Game is really fun with friends. I've been playing with some coworkers all night tonight and had a blast. Let's just say I'm going to go out on a limb and say Jewelry Store and Ukrainian Job on Overkill difficulty is going to get nerfed into the ground as far as experience and money goes. An Overkill, Pro Job version of one of those nets you like 13k exp and $75k, and it's really not too hard to do.

If you're worried about the gunplay in the game, don't be. I honestly think the guns feel better than even AAA shooters like BF3. There are a lot of little touches that are cool too like your character leaning slightly to the left when you are carrying a bag. Overall it has pretty high production value for a $30 game.

Are you kidding? they already nerffed the hell out of payday in the beta. i did bank job on overkill last right and it was about as hard as normal or hard difficulty in the beta. its kinda boring, and i was puging it.

hey if any one wants to play some tonight im up for trying to do some silent heists.

Ukrainian Job is really broken right now if you have C4. You can run straight in, blow both safes, and exit in about 40 seconds, before the van even departs.

You can do that on diamond heist on normal. Grab 3 bags and roll out. Its good for card farming.

Except on Ukrainian you get way more XP (Around 17k I believe), more money(not that 75k is anything to brag about, but still better than diamond on normal) and its done within 50 seconds or less.

My biggest gripe with this game so far is the god damn bullshit rehash of the maps/locations. Why is the bank pretty much 6 of the heists on its own? Why does it feel like they took the stuff from the beta and just changed it a tiny bit and called it a new heist? I'm not a fan of that, but other than that it's pretty good.

I wish this game had Kinect support so I could make military hand gestures in my living room during the heist. /douchebag

So can we talk about skill specs? I went mostly Enforcer but other than the saw, I don't really see much reason to go for the massive armor or shotgun perks. I mainly use rifles, so I've been branching out into Mastermind a bit for the extra stamina and zip ties. I guess realistically you can go for all 4 trees but not get really good at any of them (actually it's an achievement I think, lol).

I wonder how far you can theoretically get in the trees at Reputation level 100?

i just hit lvl 40 and have the iron man armor, and saw. i actually really like the double shotgun you can buy at lvl 39 its slick.

i need to start branching out now i think.

How do you feel about the saw? It seems cool but I've heard the blades break really easily. Right now I am using the UAR and I really like it, but I'm wondering if I should try the M308 or just wait to get the M16 later down the line. Money seems tight at this point (I think I'm level 31?) so it's hard to make these kinds of decisions.

Also, funny quote from Penny Arcade about the game:

"[We're] playing a game now where things go really, really poorly for some amateur thieves and they need to kill every policeman in the state while their drill takes ten thousand years to chew through a vault. There is another door inside the vault which must be chewed, also. In Monaco, that’s when things go to slapstick, accompanied by a jangling piano run. Here, that kicks off another round of brutal murders."

Which missions are you doing? I lost about 2 million respecing, and then deciding it was shit and going back to my original enforcer/ghost and I have about 3 million now. Level 46.

Watchdogs is pretty easy money IMO, very hard or hard pro job = at least 300k and not too hard. Or go crazy and do a Rats, I made about 670k on a 5 bag/very hard run.
