I don't think reaper necessarily needs a nerf per se. But I think he needs more damage drop off over range. It's kind of bullshit being pharah at the top of her rocket pack jump and getting picked off by a reaper 500 feet away. Those shotguns aren't sniper rifles dammit

If a reaper kills you from that far away its because he got the final blow and someone else did most of the damage. Trust me, he does not do that much damage at range, even with head shots. The spread makes him rather useless at range.

I only had time for another five games tonight and was severely disappointed. Even at rank 60 nobody is communicating. I was playing Zarya and had an ult ready so I spammed it until it said I had sent too many messages. We had a Phara with an ult ready, perfect for the wombo-combo. What does the Phara do? Five seconds after I get done spamming she ults and kills one person. I do not expect these plays from people at rank 60.

I lost four out of the five games I played tonight and the last game that I actually won wasn't because we communicated. Luckily most of my losses were KOTH maps which seem to be bugged regarding MMR. Nobody seems to get/lose a large amount after those. I dropped to 59 but ranked back to 60 after winning my last game on Hollywood. I'm almost tempted to wait a few days and see if people drop to lower ranks and the upper ranks clean up a bit. Maybe I'm expecting too much and 60 isn't as good as I think. Pro's are already ranked high 70's so clearly I have room for improvement.

Next TF2 more like it. Simple to pickup and play.
It seems more complex than TF2 - it has like 30 different classes, and they're mostly a lot more different than I remember the classes in TF2 being. It's also more fun - I don't know if it's just that the characters are more likable or what, but I didn't like TF2, and I love this game.

Anyway, I'm TheChafing#1420. I'd be in for a [H] group game.

I don't get the comp ranking system. A win gives you this tiny bar of progress, but a loss takes away almost a full level. That irks me.

Was the win on a King of the Hill/Control map? There's apparently a bug that gives you very little progress with a win on those maps. I was on a team that blew out another team 3-0 on Lijiang, I went something like 47-5 with 3 golds, and got like 5% of a level, while a win will give me a full level on payload maps. I heard that it may also affect your placement if you played and won KotH maps during those 10 matches (not getting full credit for the win). http://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20745665208#post-3

I was in a group of 6 for placement and we got destroyed, a lot (3-7), so I initially ranked 41 (i would recommend solo or duo queuing for placement, unless you know your team is good, mine was a butch of guys that don't play too often). SoloQ'ing I'm 4-0 and competition at that rank seems pretty easy. I'm up to 43 now but 2 of the 4 wins were on KotH maps which gave me practically no progress. They seem like such a waste of time since they're usually the most time consuming to play.

Their willful blindness concerning issues brought up in the PTR has carried over from D3, it seems, which is beyond ridiculous in a game that is 100% about competition between players. I get that not everything can be fixed in time for an update, but when you run a PTR and get feedback on a bunch of game-breaking bugs, then ignore all the feedback and push the update out anyway you're simply telling people they're wasting their time testing for you. If you can't catch a bug for your Competitive Mode launch where 1 of your 3 game modes is borked then what exactly were you focusing on?

They've been doing it since at least Season 1 of Arena in WoW. From PvP changes that affected PvE to ignored PTR feedback to blatant imbalance to Sweeping Nerf/Buff cycles; Blizz is bad at balance fixes. I'm amazed the game is as balanced as it is now.

Quick play match quality is considerably shittier with the advent of competitive.

Player skill just fell off a cliff, not surprisingly.

Ya, all the least shitty players are in competitive and hte shittiest ones are playing quick play, lol
I have terrible luck playing solo in competitive mode, I seem to always group up with not so great team players.

Quick, pick 2 widows, hanzo, and bastion on attack escort. I need to find the time to play competitive. Healing or tanking for teams like this is an exercise in frustration.

I experience the opposite, I have pretty good luck with solo in competitive. No troll picks, everyone working together, and decent communication with most of the team. Started rank 41, currently 48, my top rank was 50. Most all my rank ups were from solo play. It's when I group with friends I start running into more coordinated teams and lose. Of course that could all change.

If I see that in quickplay, I usually just leave and find another game. No sense dealing with that in quick play when leaving has no repercussions.

Yeah, I played a Quick Match last night, tried to be Lucio and then Mercy but my team was just too incompetent, kept running off on their own and into places where I couldn't easily follow. Ended up just saying fuck it and went Reaper and we ended up winning the round (barely).

I like playing Mercy the best, but I frequently find myself with this problem. Either the rest of the team doesn't seem to know what their character's function is, or they refuse to stay together, and get picked off one by one. About 20 percent of the time, they'll then accuse me of being a "shit heal" because I tried to stay with the objective.

Such is the healer plight.

When I solo, I just can't let myself care. I play a lot of Lucio or whatever his name is and usually end up tanking for some reason, (not sure if that is the correct word but at end of matches I am usually 25% team damage taken or higher). I am getting better with him on staying alive finally, (level 17 now). So I just run around and try to cause the enemy problems while looking for people that either need a speed boost, like a group attack, or someone that needs some heals. I keep the special ability around for those last second pushes on tight matches but sometimes have used it to save my own ass. If the DPS runs away, I let them and don't chase them at anymore. If they want heals, they have to come to my proximity.

The sudden death tie-breaker on competitive payload maps is the biggest pile of horseshit I have ever laid eyes on.

Finally had time to do my placements... some pretty bad team compositions.. ended up 6 wins and 4 losses and skill level 55. Was hoping to be in the 60's at least considering the last 5 matches were against all 60+ skill level players -_-

I'm not seeing any patch notes or info that says sudden death mode is out and stopwatch mode is in.

Where are you seeing this?

At the end of my games...

Quicker you take the final objective the more time allotted for the next round if both teams get final objective.

Sudden death in payload is two minutes, regardless of how long it took your team to complete a full push. Complete a full push 10 minutes faster than your opponent did? Doesn't matter, you're going to a two minute sudden death round instead of being given the win.

I think you glossed over my post. It was a complaint about ranked payload lacking a proper stopwatch mode, not the A/D maps.

You are I are playing different competitive modes then. Both teams get a chance to attack/defend again now. Previously there was just a coin flip determining attack/defend which was unfair.

Sudden death condition is after that set.

Set 1: Each team plays attack and defense once with the same timing markers. If one team advances to a further objective (partial does not count) at the end of both rounds then that team wins.
Set 2: If both teams advanced to the same objective they then play 2 rounds again alternating attack/defense but timing markers are different based on performance in the previous set.
Set 3: If both teams still advance to the same objective then now it is coin flip sudden death. Only 1 round is played with attack and defense randomly chosen.

So they added two extra rounds before the coin flip then. Seems fair, I haven't even seen a coin flip since they added the extra rounds.

Why do >50% of players, even in comp mode, not understand that the cart is the key objective, and being physically on/around it is the most important aspect of the entire match? I had two matches where I was Rein and the cart never moved unless I was on it, no other player would get near it. Another match I ended up having to sit on the cart as Mercy, cuz the TWO tanks on the team decided they'd be better off wandering into buildings chasing tracer (who promptly ported back out and killed me). And let alone getting them to understand that they can STOP the cart by getting near it on defense. Fuck, man.

Fucking kill chasers, leave it to the flanking characters, the rest of your asses need to fight on the objective! I'll let Reaper, Genji, Blackwidow, Tracer and Phara get away with it but the rest need to be humping that objective. Even then, at least try to touch it every once in awhile when your team wipes to help reset the pushback/capture/overtime progress. And if you manage to team wipe the enemy, then EVERYONE needs to dog pile to push it faster.

Holy fucking shit, seriously. I've played SO many matches where the rest of my team just runs around like it's a deathmatch or something.

Funny enough it works both ways, plenty of games where I sit at enemy spawn to distract or lead them away from the objective, 60% of the time it works every time.

Why is that unfair?

An example from last night: both teams score the same on attack on Volskaya Industries, coin flip ensues and our team had to cap the first point in 60 seconds or lose. So what happened? Bastion/Torbjorn/Mei/Reinhardt/Symmetra/Mercy defending easily and we lost. I've won a couple of flips in a similar manner over the past couple of days: got the defend option and just ran a couple of tanks+hitscan for the easy win.

My experience is the same. If you get defense, you're highly favored to win.

Man this game is so much funner with people who chat. Met 1 guy a few days ago who used voice so we played a few rounds, next thing I know he has me in a group with 4 of his friends all chatting away. Been playing 6 man games for the past few days now, Game is so different with friends lol. I'm lv 24 and 1 other is 20 rest are all over 30 so we get to start doing competitive soon :D

Why is team chat not the default

I don't think I've gotten a single person that has said more than a couple words. The voice is actually good quality and low latency too. Actually, most people don't bother to say shit period.

I barely even see shit talk.

I'm approaching rank 70 in competitive.

Blizzard has addressed the coin toss before they released the Competitive mode. Whatever they have planned they hope to remove it completely.

Had a comp match last night that lasted ~6minutes. We capped the cart without almost zero stopping, then three people rage quit when they got their turn on offense.

I've found that every match I've won (or lost against) has had a team composition that included two tanks. Usually Roadhog + Rein, but a good Gorilla(name escapes me) player is pretty crazy too.
