I'm primarily a Battlefield and Quake Arena player when it comes to shooters. Never got into TF.
Should I give this a try or should I stay in my lane with traditional FPS?

I'm sure you will at the very least get your money's worth. It's your typical twitch shooter but with a bunch of gimmicks thrown in to "imo" cater to the casual/noob/crossover mmorpg players. Some classes are straight cheese to play while others are fun and rewarding if you have the skill to play them. I guess that doesn't really answer your question but check out some youtube videos to see what the gameplay looks like maybe that will help you decide.

Soldier76 is basically the assault/medic class from Battefield games. Although everyone refers to him as COD likely due the greater mainstream recognition.

Overall it's better to think of this as a first person action game. In terms of a shooter it is closer to Quake than BF.

What the fuck is up with connection issues and getting disconnects in OW?

Got kicked from a match and even the battle.net web site wont come up.

Blizzard, please fix your shit.

Blizzard and Overwatch are whats trending in the news cycle currently, so certain groups are also trying to get in on that by DDOS attacks.

So, the other day, I was playing as Mercy, and I got called a noob for even attempting this. According to the person in question, only a team of noobs would even have a Mercy on the team. Does that have any basis in fact, or was that guy just a jerk?

Just have to say, the balance in this game is so razor thin ANY character can dominate. it is the person's skill and the team that make the difference.
I am not a "team player" and that is a bummer, I typically go for broke solo unless I see a situation where I can support a concerted effort. Sometimes you need solo hunters sometimes you are in pure assault more and its all hands time.

As for being called a noob you are no longer a noob when you stop being offended at being called a noob. There is the secret. NOOB!

Mercy is run on every competitive team, so uh, no he's just an idiot. It'd be like running a team in Team Fortress 2 with no Medic.

Mercy is usually the one that helps win the match. I have noticed that a lot of my losses are due to the other team having a Mercy and our team not having one.

I would love to sit there as bastion and have mercy feed me while I mow down the chumps. :)

Mercy + Reinhart + Bastion defending on the temple of Anubis map = lol.
There's ways around that but usually pugs are content sittin in the arches trying to snipe the defense/take pot shots....I usually take the monkey and go blitz thru the left side and make my way straight to the back of the capture point and that usually bring 2-3 back toward me...someone smart can just go Pharah and shoot rockets at the entrenched while the other 4 can follow thru the left side.

Theres a SHIT TON of casuals in this game with the "I'm just here to have fun I don't care if I win or lose mentality" and if you say anything about that, they'll label you as "toxic" or "salty". Fuck them I play to win.

Something I've noticed is that an awful lot of players aren't really playing as a team. For instance, if I'm playing Mercy, I sometimes feel like I'm chasing the other members of my team around trying to heal them, vs. working with them. They'll run past me looking for a health pickup, and I have to chase them down, running away from the enemy. If I started barking orders at them, I wonder how many would do what I told them...

Clutch revives win games

I had that happen twice yesterday in the space of half an hour. I thought we were going to lose, my team wiped right near the goal line while I was trying to run back to them, but then I'd make it there in time to revive two or three of them and we'd just casually push the ball across the goal line at the last second.

Talrain#1672 add me. Seems like there is quite a few of us that want to play as a team and are getting tired of people not working together.

Also handy that you can fly to dead teammates with Mercy. I had a great 4 man revive POTG with Mercy when I flew over the battlefield and revived everyone then won.

Bentley#1380 if anyone wants to party up.

Well, they are releasing Competitive Play today so, hopefully the two groups can just split and play with each other. Personally, I am way more on the casual side of this game and I really don't want to play that competitively.

Finished my placement matches. Overall it went really well. I won 8/10 games. One game two people left so I had to take a loss and the other we just weren't communicating. On my second match I ended up with 94% kill participation and went 44-3. Ended up rank 60 which I'm pretty proud of. I'm wondering if they tweaked the ranks at all from PTR. Seagull who is a pro got rank 69 after his placement matches on the PTR. If the ranks hold true than I did pretty well.

They tuned the graphics, I'm highly impressed. I was running 70-85 fps with my 390X, now I'm maintaining 100-130fps steady. It's so much smoother.

yeah, lots of changes big and small tonight.
Kicked fucking ass I wonder if they anti-nerfed me.

Did they make Reaper even stronger? It seems like they made Reaper considerably more difficult to kill. I found I was living a lot longer when I'd play as him, but frustratingly, my shots almost just didn't seem to count. I'd shoot and shoot and shoot, and only occasionally would an enemy die as a result.

My conclusion, as always, is that I'm just not very good, but I wish they'd leave the game alone long enough for me to learn it.

I have good games and bad games. I can usually tell if I am gonna suck within the first 2 minutes of the match.
Also there are just some really great teams that you randomly get pitted against. Some of the snipers just seem to pop up every place I go. Run here, BAM! No there, BAM! How about there? BAM!!!!

ya its very game by game, I had on match as widowmaker where I was doing amazing. I took out a solder 76 and tracer a few time in close quarters with my venom mines and auto rifle and my crosshairs seemed to glide to my targets forehead with no effort and I felt like a god. Two games later I was ready to rage quit because I couldn't body shot a bastion let alone get a headshot lol

I think he's actually always been somewhat overpowered and needs to be nerfed because there's really very little damage drop off/bullet drop in his shotgun blasts so he can pop in unload on you at close to midrange, and then he has 2 skills to get away.

IS the 29.00 version just as good as the Origin version? I didn't think the game was that cheap...I would have a FPS to play until Infinite warfare comes out.

Not sure there is a $29 version, but the $40 normal version just doesn't come with the random skins / goodies for other Blizzard games that the Origins one does. Nothing major in the Origins edition TBH.

yeah I meant 39.00 still don't know if this game will catch me the Beta was kinda bland.

What are these two escape abilities you speak of? Using Shadow Step to "get away" would leave you standing there exposed for 2 seconds if you didn't kill whoever you jumped. He might not have drop off but those shotguns do have a lot of spread; you're not doing a ton of damage from midrange.

I don't get the comp ranking system. A win gives you this tiny bar of progress, but a loss takes away almost a full level. That irks me.

I got a 47 ranking. 3 wins and 7 losses, got grouped with not so great players.
