This is correct. What they ARE telling the manufacturers that sign on is that they can longer sell AMD products under their existing and well known gaming brand. sure they can still sell AMD cards, but if they want to market them as gaming cards they need to create a new brand for them. For example, Asus had to start branding their AMD gaming cards as Arez instead of using their well known existing brand Republic of Gamers.
I've said it before, apply the GPP to [H] and see how important branding is. Sure Kyle could still review AMD video cards, but he couldnt post them under the [H]ardOCP name, he would have to start over with a new site (brand) to post those reviews on. Thousands of people look at [H] every day, it is a well known and respected brand that has taken decades to establish. What carries more weight? the established brand or the new kid on the block?
