Nvidia Previews Unreleased GPU

you don't understand how it [The thermal cooling method being employed in the card] works.

Am looking forward to upgrading my GTX280 (2xSLI) to the GTX580.
I have a high end case and air cooled system which is optimally lowering noise and heat factors to a comfortable level for me. And, as said, I am going to upgrade to the 580.

With that said I want to ask for a knowledgeable reply to my question.

At one time I had my system water cooled using a highly respected manufacturer's system of pumps and tubing. It was installed by a boutique computer builder known on this Forum.
An unanticipated water cooling system leak developed after 10 months, the system was returned to the builder and they refitted the system to my present efficient cooling system.

QUESTION: To the best of your knowledge do the water cooling systems employed in GPUs encounter leakage? Have you heard reports of such leakage in past GPU's?

Thank you.

Why would they show off any call of duty game? Anyone with half of a brain knows that they have never ever been demanding. They don't even look good.

So... why would they demo Black ops during an event focused on DX11 capabilities? I thought Black Ops was another DX9 title?

It is, I thought it was funny. here have a new flagship product being forced to play a DX 9.0C title with graphics on par with those from 2007, yet it is almost 2011. I guess we need a 580 to play it at 2560x1600 with 16AA and 16AF though.

using 3/8 ID 5/8 OD Danger Den/Feser tubing with compression fittings and you will not have an issue. Make sure to keep GPU and CPU on the same loop for themal shutdown protection across the entire rig

COD kicks arse. This is a GAMING event. You guys are typing from your keyboards at home, I am typing from PDXLAN 16.5. :p

It's completely nearly silent

Because the GTX 285 was known for being nearly silent, right? It's great Nvidia made it quieter than the 480, but they are no where near silent levels with the dB readings shown. Not really even at quiet levels...

Oh well, let's see what the reviews show

Please note that I no longer have a water cooled system. When I did it was connected and did utilize the same routing and connections you described.

With that matter clarified, when I have the GTX580 installed it will be the only water cooled component in my system.

If the GTX580 vacuum factored cards will be the only water cooled components in my system, what are the risks of it developing a leak.

Remember when tessellation was something that would provide smoother, more realistic graphics at an absolutely minimal cost to performance, and not become the equivalent of full on AA/AF, or a new sad e-penis measurement? I do. F this. Better FPS > shinier smoother graphics for still images.

Looks great, but i think ill pass for DX12

p.s. the camera man should be shot...

They haven't done much of anything with DX11, and your already talking DX12 . .. . .

Can't wait to see what this card can do.

if you have a motherboard you might have liquid in the heat-pipes on it ;) The stock solution is not water-cooling really.

If i can remember..........Last time they demoed a card there was a rumor it was a "FAKE" card. It was probably true too.

I'm excited to see what the 580 really has to offer, but if it can't do 3 monitors with one card, i don't care how fast it is, i won't be buying one.
I'll stick with my 460 and get a second one.

I second this.

It appears that's a "yes" judging by all the vendor links popping up... I'm going to pick up 1 or 2 depending on pricing and review info.

Thanks, yes that would tend to indicate a hard launch, guess I'll be picking up three and figuring what my 480s should go for.

Ummmm yeah, sorry, I am not fooled this easy. First of all, when he says the worlds fastest GPU, I honestly feel like I'm being treated like an idiot.

Maybe the worlds fastest GPU publically but I doubt seriously the 580 will be faster than the AMD 69xx that's coming out soon.

After all, the 580 was that the 480 orginally was supposed to be for the most part before they had to reduce specs on die to get the 480 stable and to market.

I wonder how many kids are going to fall for this card and buy it?

Whatever amd comes out with, I doubt it will be that much more powerful than nvidia's, if it is at all. So I guess instead of playing cod with 10 monitors at 1000fps, then they'll only get 990fps. In other words, at this point in time, it doesn't really matter anymore unless one card is getting double or more performance on the other.

From the Youtube page I got a chuckle out of this:

Doesn't bother me when I'm proved wrong. It does happen once in a great while. I just find it comical that some of the fan boys are eating this up when we have no numbers for the 69xx yet. All of a sudden people forget that Nvidia was a generation behind AMD and all of a sudden they have the "worlds fastested GPU" which as it turns out is really a re-badged original spec'd 480 card. lol. I'm not hating. I have 2 new Nvidia 460 cards that I really like.

That video is very interesting, jesus christ. I'm excited to see what Nvidia has!

It won't do nvsurround on a single card. Leaked pictures only show 2 dvi and hdmi outputs, the same as the 480

AMD was at the same LAN party and did a presentation as well.

Too bad there aren't enough PC games to take advantage of the tech.

People keep saying this, but resolutions 2560x1600 and above (EyeInfinity) make very much use of latest gen cards if you want optimal FPS with details maxed out.

Even WoW at 2560x1600 in full settings is giving my GTX 480 / i7 3.6Ghz a headache.

I don't think a single card is fast enough yet to do 3 decent sized screens off one card. AMD may let you do 6 off one, but its not going to be good framerates even on low settings.

Yeah, I guess it's a nice "checkbox" on the packaging but it's not really viable to use with one card at this point in time anyway.

THIS. I'm running GTX 470 SLI at the moment with an i7 920 @ 3.72ghz and crave more speed for 2560x1600 with AA...
