Want to know how well your ISP streams Netflix? Well, you are in luck because Ken Florance, Director of Content Delivery at Netflix, made a blog post with the performance numbers for the top sixteen ISPs in the country.

As promised, Netflix released a report today on the company's tech blog about which Internet service providers are best at distributing the company's streaming video to customers' homes. According to Netflix's data, the nation's largest cable operators are tops in delivering the company's content.

I got Cox, the seems to be pretty good so far.

I don't understand Frontier ending up at the bottom. I mean, I do, but was that figuring in their newfound 11 states worth of fiber customers from Fios? My streaming speeds through them have been spectacular.

never had a problem with Comcast outside of the sporadic outages.. the 50mb tier is smoking too. Never had problems streaming HD either through netflix.. glad they released this list.

Charter's performance is always fantastic. When it's working. Which admittedly is almost all of the time.

When there's trouble, Charter C.S. sucks hard.

This chart is amazing, now it forces the internet companies (who hate netflix) to advertise their netflix speed! hah sometimes I really do love netflix.

Fiber won't be part of Frontier's plan for very long...they are pricing it out of range for people so they'll drop it and they'll no longer need to support it. a quote from the CEO was something to the effect of "people don't need faster internet than what DSL/Copper can provide"... (I'm paraphrasing but you get the idea...)

Frontier is an old company with old ideas; they will likely not evolve, (under current management,) but they will die off in all areas save where there is no other choice. (yes; I used to work for these clowns).

Well if I had a choice in which ISP to choose in my area this would be great info but unfortunately im in the comcrap black hole and paying through the nose for it :(

How could Canada beat the USA? Excuse for our shitty speed is always density.... so wtf? :p

I wouldn't get too excited about Canajan speeds. We pay through the nose, are generally capped, and yes, the density would be much lower.

I don't care if Charter tops that list...I would NEVER go back to their service ever again. Worst service I have ever experienced by far.

I have Comcast and have been happy with the internet overall. I can't belive Charter is in the top. I use to have then 3-4years ago and there service was completely SHIT. Not just the customer service, but the internet.

So true. I've given up on dealing with their tech support. If I have a problem I can't solve myself I'll go to the local office and ask them to send a tech out. The CSR's response to any problem is "unplug the modem and plug it back in" multiple times. Uhh, thanks Charter but I'm not stupid I tried that before calling, I don't need to try it another five times.

Charter still sucks donkey balls. Their Cust. Service is in top 3 worst I've ever personally dealt with. Their services IMO lag behind in the industry.

I only have 6mb connection and it take 5 seconds to load an HD 5.1 netflix stream. I have had no problem other then my router will shutdown because it is being worked to hard. It just gets lazy. new firmware and eveything.

i find it funny how well rogers does... but.............

their caps are awful lol... and their price!!

P.S. CRTC is F$&*@^ useless, they are just corporate lapdog.. geez.

Yup. I use a lot of Netflix and have Charter. I never, ever have problems with the streaming. Their customer service is terrible, but I haven't had any problems that required calling for the last 5 years.

I did about 20 test and it stays around 30mb down and between 7-10mb upload

All this does is show me how bad my internet sucks... I have a hard time believing Time Warner is averaging over 2megs a second when the top speed available in my area is 15meg or around 1.5meg down and is usually way under that advertised speed. /Needs to move apparently

Second. It was the only solution available at my old house and >600ms-1200ms was the norm during peak times for over a year for all the surrounding towns. Charter's reply "We don't guarantee latency". Outages were several times a month and the CS was poor.
Moved to a place that had Fibre and don't recall even one outage in the last 3 years.

The problem with this data is that it's lumping cable companies that only provide 10Mb/s+ speeds in equally with companies that offer multiple tiers of service from 768/128 up to 50Mb/s connections. Of course their average will be lower, but if you have one of the top tier accounts you'll be as good or better than the other top providers. It's interesting data, but not particularly useful.

Seems like of you aren't realizing that these are averages of throughput, results are going to be skewed and your mileage may vary from where your company is placed on the graph.

Working for Dish Network in an area that only has two broadband choices (Charter and ATT), I hear tons of stories of people hating on Charter because its slow and sucks and never works but I don't have a single problem with mine, its been down once in the 3 years ive had it and only needed a modem reset to get it going again. They bought out a company in the STL region with a shitty infastructure and it sucked for awhile but now that they have upgraded it in my town its good to go....just need to get it done in the other towns lol.

Customer service and billing on the other hand...that's where they suck an enourmous wang.
