Microsoft has presented new data showing that Bing’s US market share is wildly underestimated: the search engine supposedly powers 33 percent of all Internet searches (5 billion searchers per month) in the States. Bing is also decently popular in countries such as the UK (25 percent), Taiwan (24 percent), and Hong Kong and France (19 percent).

Worldwide, Bing only has about 9 percent usage share, which is pretty much exactly as big as I thought. That amounts to 12 billion monthly searches (again, a measure of usage, but I promise to stop harping on this). Bing likewise has only 9 percent usage share in Europe. And under 5 percent market share in Latin America and Asia Pacific. By this point, you’re probably wondering what they’re bragging about exactly.

Windows 10 has over a billion installs and everyone uses the Edge browser.
If I measure from the wrong side of the ruler I have a 10" wang.
Well at least we know who taught them their marketing skills.

So basically, just like their justification for number of people who have "Chosen" their internet browser to be IE/Edge, it's basically just folks that haven't changed the default. Got it. Continue sucking. Carry on.

I use bing, mostly because MS already has all my data from windows and onedrive might as well give them the last of it and not share it with google. Although i wonder what servers they use to harvest the data because common ad-servers/malware etc. are blocked at my home at the router.

I've actually given Edge and Bing a fair try. Edge is ok, I guess, but not at all worth the hassle of migrating from Chrome. And Bing is Great! For pr0n. LOL.

I had to change the search engine of my android phone from google to bing, they layout that they forced on mobile searches and their "amp" bs was too much for me.

So far loving it, don't miss google at all, but I still use google in my desktop.

Except when I use bing, I never get really good results.

If I were Bill Gates or whoever is running that joint I would tell them .... "Never ever again sound pathetic or make excuses for our company" ....... "We don't give reasons or make excuses, we simply execute" ............ "We let our work speak for itself" ............... "if we are shit ... then we are shit"

I stopped using Google as my default search engine when they made all results returned for shopping became ads and none were generic search results. For the most part I like Bing search but sometimes if I can't get the answer I'm looking for I try it on Google.

In a side note I think the edge browser is ok but I can't use it because one capability I use a whole lot is the right click on a word and search for the results. This feature is present in every browser I've used except edge.

There is a firefox addon that removes all the Google Search Ads at the top of results. They removed it from Firefox but you can still find it on the web.

The same guy also does the Embedded Video Ad Removal addon too. Which I personally love. Lot of these youtubers are putting ads in their videos at the front and sometimes end, Linus Tech Tips for example. It just skips his ads in the video and gets to the review which is just brilliant.

Ah because it's "ask cortana" it was awkward at first but it's essentially doing the same thing but instead of opening a new tab it opens a temp panel on the right side

I did notice that and tried it a couple of times but really didn't like it. I do lots of research on the web and opening a side bar just isn't conducive so until they change it I'll continue to use Chrome/IE.

Edge works well now, it had a lot of growing pains but is essentially a good enough browser now.

Searching for stuff in google only gives me either wiki links or amazon links, I'm a bit over it.

i use Bing and edge with no trouble. With the sites and servers I use normally edge gives less hassle than chrome or Firefox.

I use edge and Bing just for reward points. I can get two free albums a month if I really try hard to search everyday. You get like 150 a day just for searching. I'll jump on my crumpet and just type stuff like tccgct to search for the points.

Every time a person does a search in Windows 10, it queries Bing (unless a person disables web results being added to search results - probably)
Alexa is powered by Bing
AOL search is powered by Bing
Yahoo search is powered by Bing
Various other services are powered by Bing

Microsoft's claimed statistic is surely not referring to the number of people who choose to go to Bing and search for something, but the number of people who either go to Bing, or who inadvertently engage Bing while they're trying to do other things. A lot of Bing's statistic could be coming just from people who use Windows search or Cortana in Windows, and who don't ever click on the web results, and who also don't even want web results in the first place.

same here. I use Bing rewards, also get points every time i buy a digital game on my Xbox. So i am getting search points on my phone, my pc and reward points from the Xbox. Also try to make sure i do what i can to maximize points

Yahoo's search is Bing? Now I know why it sucks. I thought it was just Yahoo's old search engine that still sucked. Turns out it just sucks in a new way.

I search Google, but these google AMP pages (google bar framing a site in google.com) might be enough to make me try Bing on my mobile chrome.

I'm sure Bing is really popular.... with people who bought a PC at WalMart and don't even realize they could change from Bing to something else. :p

I bet most of those people think they're "googling", since Microsoft stooped to ripping off google's color scheme and layout to trick people. Do they do anything original anymore?

33% of the US market is still 33%. I actually use Bing on Edge. I don't find it any less capable than google in terms of results. But my work laptop uses google.

You mean how bing has a unique background image/clip every day? Yep that's ripping off google's scheme.

I like Bing but, then again, I am in the US market. Also, Bing rewards are nice and the backgrounds are nice too.

I know a couple software engineer dudes derive much pleasure in getting $5 from Bing rewards. Younger than me too.

Right because that's what I was talking about. A front page image no one gives a shit about.

Try actually searching for something, key word try. And if youre outside the U.S., god help you.

Well I'm in the USA and have zero issues. And I like the clean interface of Bing.

Well, the "rewards" of using Bing are kind of compelling, I must say. But all I've used the points for, so far, are the scratch-offs. Haven't won a thing. Does anybody have a success story with Bing Rewards?

Ever since Google implemented mandatory safe search Bing has been my go to image search engine.

Google found me the link below, after searching for "AT&T Hot Girl." I have a thing for her. Don't ask.

Ever since Google implemented mandatory safe search Bing has been my go to image search engine.

Can you explain the Google mandatory safe search? To me it was a simple toggle in settings to turn it off. And I like the ability to right click/search on Google images and Tineye features. Does Bing offer that in any way? If Bing has that feature, in any way, I'd give it a go. I honestly don't know how to search for a pic that I'm looking at easily in Bing.

I use Bing as my home page using Firefox.

I actually prefer their search results. About 99% of the time they are the exact same.

I set the search bar in the upper right to Google, though, just in case I want quick access to Google for maximum versatility

Basically a few years ago they made explicit images filtered regardless of filtering choices you make. Turn Bing safe search off and go wild. As for the search for similar, I do believe that option is in bing near the bottom of the image.

I use my rewards on the amazon gift cards. You get the activation code within five minutes of redeeming.
