Microsoft has presented new data showing that Bing’s US market share is wildly underestimated: the search engine supposedly powers 33 percent of all Internet searches (5 billion searchers per month) in the States. Bing is also decently popular in countries such as the UK (25 percent), Taiwan (24 percent), and Hong Kong and France (19 percent).
Worldwide, Bing only has about 9 percent usage share, which is pretty much exactly as big as I thought. That amounts to 12 billion monthly searches (again, a measure of usage, but I promise to stop harping on this). Bing likewise has only 9 percent usage share in Europe. And under 5 percent market share in Latin America and Asia Pacific. By this point, you’re probably wondering what they’re bragging about exactly.
