Mass Effect: Andromeda

Found a neat build around the Biotic Charge ability unfortunately it has a 50% chance to randomly say "Invalid Target" which prevents it from being cast.
This game is determined to just ruin all the fun builds. They're trying so hard to FORCE YOU to use a Black Window / Isharay bioconverter build.

The issues with life regen also make Tech much more valuable on Insanity, they really need to put a "Restores Life on Kill" perk in the Biotic tree or something.
 
I messed with the game some. I am seeing a little bit better FPS. I'm also seeing a few fixes outside of character animations. The M98 Widow and Black Widow now collapse properly. They didn't before. I don't recall the multi-GPU mode setting for performance / quality in the menus. One thing they did fuck up is that I can't alt-tab out of the game and have it minimize. Now it goes into windowed mode and the only way I can fix it is to go into the options and change a setting, change it back and hit apply. It returns to full screen at that point.
 
I'd like it to go to windowed when I alt-tab, then back to full-screen when I click on it- only a few games do that right these days. And since I alt-tab all the time, this will annoy the shit out of me...

I alt-tab constantly. I routinely play games while I'm waiting for stability, drive, or network tests to complete on motherboards I'm reviewing.

According to the internet, the "400% Duration" Throw perk is still a Primer however the tooltip/icon is gone.

Thanks, will have to test tonight. I just played SP last night because I got the no sound glitch in my first MP game and didn't want to deal with that all night.
 
I started playing for the first time last night after the patch came out. Made a biotic femRyder with the default face, it didn't seem too goofy.

Good stuff in general but I ran into some of the UI frustrations. The alt+enter thing happened to me right away. Inventory management is bad - first mission gives you an extra gun, but you can't equip guns from the gun screen (or anywhere that I could find). But it looks like I dodged a huge bullet by waiting for this patch - after seeing the planet animations I wonder how any of you played through the whole game at release without going crazy. I'm already spamming tab to cancel them and I just started.

The default face is fine from some angles, the rest of them are pretty bad. She sometimes looks like she's got down syndrome or something. Certain facial expressions amplify the problems with her face 1,000 fold. There is a scene where she wakes up from an ordeal and she has this weird facial expression. It's supposed to be from pain but it looks like she shit her pants as the look she has is one of uncomfortable relief. I know BioWare was trying to push their SJW agenda by making her look somewhat average but that's not the result. I'd have been fine with her looking average. I'm not fine with her looking like she boarded a short yellow shuttle to Andromeda.

The planet animations did drive me crazy though. I finished the game doing that and I dreaded exploring the galaxy. It was awful. When I started a new game+ I only went to planets I had quests on. I wanted to wait for the patch before exploring.

You can only equip weapons from the load out menu. This can only be done when launching a mission or from the load out locker on the Tempest or a forward station. There are load out stations in some enemy areas after you liberate them later in the game but you cannot simply equip weapons from the UI just anywhere.

Femryder's face was patched yesterday.
 
Just ran a multiplayer mission, and holy-fucking-lagtastikness-batman.

That felt like 300ms-500ms of lag, sometimes even more.
 
It's peer-to-peer I believe. I've read you can start your own private match, then open it to the public. That way you are the host and you avoid lag.
 
Hey I just noticed after I alt-tabbed out that on my keyboard if I do Right Alt + Enter it doesn't go back to fullscreen but if I do Left-Alt + Enter it does. Try that folks.

I will. That shouldn't make a difference but you do have different mappings in game for the left vs. right alt key so maybe that has something do with it.

Yeah, it didn't seem too goofy looking now, I did notice a few animations that are off but the actual face didn't make me want to fight the character creator. I tried the CC shortly before giving up on that without being able to make anything I wanted to play.

That was my problem. While I am fine with the default Scott Ryder face, I wanted to customize Sara's and really couldn't make the character creator do what I wanted it to do very easily. It's terrible and needs to be redone. Scenes with Sara were painful to look at. When I started a new game+ I was going to deal with the character creator but once again my frustration with it had me choosing the default face quickly. I'll be happy if she looks less goofy in the game now.
 
just in a test it seems like they added a cheekbone/chin options, or maybe they are better based on what I recall. The problem with the models seemed to be that they had chipmunk faces and you could not "thin" them out to make them look attractive. Now you can. Or maybe I am imagining things.

Apparently- when I switched to being the host, life was good. No idea what that was all about, and it does suck that there's no real way to know what kind of experience you're looking at- waiting for things you shot to die is bad.

This is the only way I've done it so far, and it has worked every time, in the menus, in the game, in multiplayer.

Fun fact the last time I pushed any of the right modifier keys was about 20 YEARS ago.

Obviously being the host gives you 0ms ping (local connection). Whereas if you join a public game you're probably connecting to Vladimir P. in Russia, 500ms ping and his 56k dialup.

It's more common than you think. Anyone who actually learned to type properly probably uses those keys. I hit the right alt+enter all the time. It can be done one handed.

I can't check that at work but I'll take your word for it at present. Your spot on with the comments on the host. I've frequently connected to a game to find this exact scenario. If I'm the host or one of my friends is the host it's not a problem.
 
In fullscreen mode, if I drag my cursor to my 2nd monitor and click the desktop it pops the game into a window. Then when I'm done, alt+enter moves it back fullscreen. It's tedious but it works.
 
Question to those who finished the game: I'm now 40 hours in. EOS, Voeld, Kadara, Havarl, are 100% completed, I'm about halfway trough Elladen. But the game says I'm only 46% trough it yet. Is that accurate? Then there should be at least 4 more explorable planets. But I get the feeling that I'm already trough the brunt of the game.

I'm in the same spot, 51% and was just wondering the same thing earlier today. I think main missions count for more % than everything else because this is way past halfway. Elaaden is the last planet.

The kind who learned to type as a by-product of messing around with computers. It's a one handed move very quick and effortless. I started hunt and pecking and now-a-days I can type with everything except the pinky. I just learned on my own, my own way and I can even do it without looking at the board. I can even type about 50 wpm if I don't have to think about what I am typing. I think not using the pinky has had the side effect of me not getting Carpal Tunnel. Seems like when I try and use the pinky fingers it is just plain awkward.

You are through the brunt of the busy work. Eos, Voeld, Kadara and Havari aren't the only explorable planets. However, Eos and Voeld are the largest with Elledan being close behind. You've got a big fucking low gravity asteroid and many other locations to explore as well. Oh and if you think you are done with Voeld, Eos, Kadara or Havari, think again. There are a handful of smaller quests that will have you returning to them later on in the game.

Elledan is the last planet like Eos and Voeld and Kadara. The asteroid world is smaller and there are many other smaller locations that you get to explore. Some of them are pretty spectacular. Trust me though, you guys are only about half way done. Your just through the bulk of the game's grindfest.

Sure! Thing is, I hadn't encountered any perceivable lag before, and I wasn't honestly sure what was going on at first; started checking my own inbounds and outbounds etc.

The only complaint is not that it happens, because obviously it can, but that there's no way to know that it's likely to happen and no way to know that the host ping is indeed the issue.

And seriously matching you up with a host that has >300ms ping is stupid.

And, yeah, I had the alt-tab deal. But, luckly just doing alt+enter fixed it without an issue.
The biggest issue that I've been having is when loading I keep getting the compiling shaders deal. Most of them aren't too bad, they're gone in under a sec. But, there's a few that are over 10k, and that takes a while. Annoying, but at least it loads without an issue. Haven't tried multi yet.
