Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread

Does enable the DLC mission, or does it simply drop him into your list of available squad members?

I don't think his missions were ready for prime time when it went gold. As I understand it, even for physical disc holders, From Ashes was a several hundred megabyte download.

My guess is that he's in there but the level involved in his recruitment mission was not.

It would be funny to see what happens if you actually own the DLC, but enable him manually prior to completing it. I wonder if they would let you bring him on his own mission.

They have in fact taken away a basic gameplay control because the consoles ran out of memory for animations.

This just seems so absurd to me. Granted, I don't know a damn thing about programming, but how much memory could a simple holster animation use? And why are they crammed up to the limit in the first place? I just can't fathom that there was no way around this.

That said, it doesn't really bother me. But clearly, it bothers others.

It's the present like someone else said and I agree with you and when that time comes it will be with zero guilt or regrets on my part.

Regret? Guilt? You paid for the game, why would there be any guilt?

Very funny if you've beat the game...

Only enables him as a selectable squad member, but every piece of dialog between him and any NPC in the game is still there. All the banters between him and crew members, random NPCs on the citadel and on certain missions is there.

What BiowarEA pulled from the game is his quest, which is rather short anyway.

I find it UTTERLY RIDICULOUS. Putting your gun away changes the way the view works... you can move the camera freely without changing your character's orientation to the scene. It is totally integral to what MASS EFFECT is in my opinion, given the level of design and environment on display.

Honestly if I had known about this I'd still play MASS EFFECT but I probably wouldn't have bought it on impulse yesterday... I would have waited until I have more free time and possibly the price has dropped and most importantly maybe they would have patched it back into the PC version.

I gaurantee you they will not. They could either devote resources to adding this animation back into the PC version, or they could spend the time developing more DLC which they will sell to all platforms, but most importantly the console money-makers.

Just beat the game. Bioware somehow managed to take away everything I loved about mass effect 1-3 in the last ten minutes with the shitty ass ending. I feel betrayed :(

no kidding. i had planned on doing a full marathon run, from 1-3 at some point. but after seeing the endings, i just said fuck it and watched the 3 lame ass endings on youtube instead.

I keep hearing this from other people and from other forums, it's killing me. I bought it from GMG with a coupon and now I need to wait for a video card until I can play it.

I just finished the ending as well, and really hated it. I read on IGN that you can have a more favorable outcome with a much higher readiness score. However, the only viable way to do that seems to be playing the coop, which is horse shit. Mass Effect is a single player game, I don't want to be forced to play MP I have no interest in just to get a favorable ending.

if i could figure out how to put a spoiler tag in, id tell you the difference, and its not much of a difference.

with that said, the mutli is actually pretty damn fun.

Multiplayer is a lot of fun. I was. Skeptical about it at first, but they did a good job with it.

Also, you can create a private mp game with just you in the game if you don't like playing with other people. Granted it will be harder, but you can still boost your readiness score a lot going solo.

I looked it up on YouTube. My concern isn't so much with seeing the ending, but rather what repercussions, if any, it will have on future games.

Oh, also, for spoiler tags, its (without the **)...

Yep the endings were all lame. Totally disappointed. I sense a combination of "we don't want to do a conventional ending" and "we ran out of money/time". Probably a direct result of the franchise and team being owned by EA. I can't imagine the BioWare of old releasing something so bad.

There's no "Good" ending really, just degrees of "Bad".

Even the supposed scene that gives a slight glimpse of hope only shows.....

.....rubble in England and the shoulder and dogtags with N7 on them and you see the corpse take a small breath.....

.....so yeah, it's a total trainwreck no matter how you look at it.

I've been warning people to do the assault at the end up to the beam, then stop playing and use their imagination to come up with how they wanted to see it end rather than suffer through the 3 total BS endings we got shafted with.

Dumb question: What thing(s) inadvertantly screw up/screw you in terms of MP? I thought I saw mention of something earlier in this thread to that effect. Was it the FOV fix or something else? I don't want to have any issues. Thanks.

same here, but now

i realized that EVERYTHING you do in the previous game and in ME3 is absolutely pointless. the game goes like "yeah good job on saving millions of lives, ending the century-old conflicts between krogan and salarian AND the geth and quarian. also giving the quarians their homeworld back and saving the rachni etc etc, that was some cool shit. so now is the point where you get your reward, right? HAHAHAHAHA, no, FU, none of it mattered!" shepard should have just spent all that specter money on H&B, while simultaneously toasting to saren and let the reapers invade. would have changed nothing.

Apparently if you connect to a host who has hacked his/her ini file to get more credits for things done in MP, and then you spend any of those credits, you get your MP and SP DLC account banned.

I agree that it's completely messed up that you can't access SP if you're banned, but if you're speaking about the guy that posted on reddit it seems that he doesn't tell the full story:

exactly.
i should have just killed off the damn rachni in ME1. maybe i wouldnt have had to fight the damn rachni/reaper hybrids. and what the hell was the point of the me2 endng? i mean, i gave the damn station to TIM and apparently that was for fuck all. for that matter, what the fuck was the point in collecting all the damn armies when again, that didnt appear to do a damn thing. i could easily blow through the entire game and skip all the side quests and had the exact same ending.

Who cares though?

Honestly, I don't care if the guy was using teleport/aimhacks while flying around the map in multiplayer swearing at people. Yeah, ban him from playing multiplayer so I don't have to deal with him.

It shouldn't cut off access to the SINGLE player game. That's *ridiculous*.

Yeah, I agree that it's ridiculous that's why I said as such in my post. The way it was claimed that he was banned was that other people were hacking and he got banned for it, I just wanted to clarify that it doesn't seem that was why he was banned in the first place.

Thanks. I'll make sure to avoid situations like that.

I'll avoid MP outright since I have a modded Coalesced.bin for better FOV. I'm not going to test the fire with EA since they are quite finicky.

So far it's working fine for me.

I have some Bioware points left over that I wanted to use but to do that requires having Origin enabled in game. In this game's case, if I enable that, the game crashes immediately when trying to start it up so, so much for that.

MP is fun!

So FOV doesn't trigger their alarms. That's good to know.

The ending indeed blows donkeys, but the game as a whole is pretty f'ing awesome. Lots of laughs and even choked up a few times.

When you get to the:
glowy blue child just quit and watch the various endings on youtube

Played my first five hours. Not sure what most of the general complaints are about, the game is just like Mass Effect 2. The combat is also more challenging IMO and I enjoyed the data that was imported from my other character. They also added some fun features. If the ending sucks, so be it but the game is a blast so far. Also, the bro character doesnt bother me as much. Shepherd treats him like the idiot he is, I dont understand what the problem people have with him.

Also, to be fair, the conversation is more stilted than the previous versions. You can tell that the game lacks a sense of flow at certain points as people recorded their portions without being aware of what they were actually responding to. A price you pay in some ways for a game that has multiple conversation paths.

That.....is pathetic on every level. Banned via guilt-by-association. And I thought SWTOR's MP aspect was bad, now I see they don't have a clue. Oh man Bioware, I am disappoint.

So in other words, they are giving legit buyers a REASON to go and pirate the game. GG Biowhore. I am loving this. All it's doing is just proving to everyone else that these game companies are out of touch with everyone else. And watching the crap unfold over the last few days, I did something I never do: I watched the spoilers. This way I have no reason to buy/play the game. Thank you youtube!

Yep. Why pirate or buy day one when you can tell how shitty a game is via YouTube?

I usually feel the journey is often more important in a game than an ending... You're just missing out.
