For the first time ever, I am mad at newegg. Newegg has always been amazing with customer satisfaction and delivering a good price for good products.

Last night, I bought a Zalman CNPS9500 heatsink for $63.99 and today for the same exact product and it went on sale for $$47.99. I called Newegg to see if I can get the applied discount to my order and they said no. This is crap.

Anyone else have this happen to them before?

Can you still cancel your order? If not ship it back to them, cause a little stick to waive the restocking fee and reorder.

Cancel the order and reorder.

Quit whining in the meantime.

I'm not going to ship it back to them, order, and wait again to receive it. Just thought it'd be nice to have that extra $15 with the convenience also. Its too late to cancel and reorder, already shipped (they are fast, I give them that).

If its really that big of a deal... PM the newegg guy and see if he can do anything for you.

I got my X850XT PE for $450 last July and then the 7800GTX came out four days later and the X850XT PE when down to $380.

Crap like that happens, I guess. :(

$15 isn't really "that big of a deal" if it was more than that, maybe...I'm just going to live with it. I would think that they would honor someone's request for a price match of their own product, on their own website one day later if they called it in. But oh well, mostly just an inconvenience/miss-out.

I don't see how this is newegg's fault. You bought the item...it happened to go on sale soon after. It's no one's fault...it's just luck. It's not like they sat around and said "zomg Compuwiz just bought a CNPS9500! Put it on sale now!"

You can certainly drop a PM to the guy here, and perhaps try contacting their customer support again...but in the end, they don't owe you anything. If they give you the sale price then it's because they're being nice, not because they HAVE to.

i ordered a video card, and decided i didn't want it, so my mom called newegg for me, and they told me to just decline the package, and dont open it, and they won't charge me for anything.

Yea you know the other day I bought some stock, and you know what happened? Today it is 5$ cheaper. So I called up wall street and asked for a refund, the nerve they told me no! How dare they!

Ok, well yesterday I was driving home from work, and noticed my gas was low so I stopped at a gas station and filled my tank up at $2.35/gal. Today I drove by that same gas station, and the gas was $2.29/gal. Am I supposed to walk into the gas station and demand I get money back? No, because prices change. I understand you are unhappy the price changed the day after you ordered it, but at least have a little bit of maturity and don't whine because they won't give you any money back when they have no obligation to do so.

refuse shipment and reorder with discount.

So if the price had gone up $15 instead of down $15, would you be ready to pay them an extra $15 'because they were about to change it anyway'?

You can't have it both ways.

Roffl, that would be be some funny shit.

Shit happens man, I bought a Core Duo 1.83 Ghz CPU for 289euro, a week later it was 230.
I was bitter yes, but just move on.

I bought a 6600gt for $199. The next day, the 7600 series was announced, and released at the same price point.

I'm not saying they owe me anything or they are at fault for anything. Of course its all just the timing of when I placed the order. I'm just saying that it sucks when you buy something an right after you buy it, it goes on sale, thats the whole point. Dont get so offensive about such a simple topic.

Haha, I like that one.

when I built my AMD dual core system, same thing happened. I called them up, told them it was about $100 total in difference in a matter of a few hours, and they gave my preffered account the credit, and I went and bought more stuff. To top it all off, I sent them a very nice email about how newegg rocks, blah blah blah, and I got a box full of newegg freebies. I'm convinced it's all about how you approach the subject.

For those of you who said tough shit about it, if you walked into best buy, and bought a HDD for $200. 10 days later, it's on sale for $50, no rebates. Sure, you opened your HDD and are using it. But you buy another one for $50, and return it with the reciept for $200. You just paid $50 for your HDD. Same principal. And most people don't realize shit like that anyway, so they make out

Now that is some true suckage!

Don 't blame Newegg, a majority of the other stores wouldn't have given you difference either.

Actually newegg does give you the difference. Bought with them for years and never had to get burned like this. Only problem is, they generally are more cool when the package hasnt arrived at your door yet. In other words if its just shipped they will honor the new price. did this countless times with various rams that kept on going on sale.

You agreed to purchase the item for $63.99 and that's what happened. I understand your complaint but if you aren't willing to pay $63.99 for said product then don't. Simple as that.
Prices go up, prices go down. Look at the people who order PC memory. Perhaps Newegg should call them and advise them it went up 2 hours after they placed their order and it will be an additional $23.99.

you should go back and read my post.......

I read it the first time through. Thanks. It was nice of them to take care of it for you, but I was just stating that he agreed to buy the item for $63.99 and the anger shouldn't be pointed at the Egg. In most cases, how you approach the issue helps but not in all cases.

That analogy doesn't work with Best Buy. They have a 30 day price guarantee that would refund you the difference. It's printed on my receipt from the Sony H5 I just bought.

Dude you really need to read the return policy. Refuse shipment when they try and deliver it and you'll be fully refunded, including shipping charges, without a restocking fee. Newegg even told me to do this when i e-mailed them about it. Just keep that in mind next time you make a mistake.

cool cool, wasn't trying to start shit. Didn't know they had a price guarantee now, that's cool.

Understood. I knew you weren't. That's BB's policy but getting the chance to actually use the policy is few and far between.

Take care.

No kidding! Some of the posts about vendors on this forum leave me pretty astounded.

Well, so this is what happened. I called them about the price difference, they said they will not give credit or price match themselves as prices change so rapidly (understandable). Emailed them for one last try, they replied back saying that the model that I bought which includes a blue LED fan did not go onsale but one that did not have the LED fan did. I was unaware of this at first, so they corrected me with that. However, when they replied back to me, they did not mention the fact that the one I DID buy did go on sale also. I pointed this out to them, and they replied with this email:

Dear ______,
We do not offer any sort of price protection. Due to the constant fluctuation of prices in this industry, the cost of our inventory is changing regularly. Items costs on our website reflect this, as they are adjusted daily. I am unable to provide you with a specific reason as to why there is a price differential because there is several determinate Newegg considers when making price adjustments.

Nevertheless, it has always been our priority to offer the greatest value for your dollar. Anytime we receive any specials or promotions such as rebates, free shipping or quantity discounts, we immediately post them on our website for you to take full advantage of.

However we are willing to make one time exception and offer the item at its current price since the order has not been delivered. I will request a credit in the amount of $11 to be issued back to your Visa card. Once you received the item, please reply to this email, we will issue the credit. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

So, I came out on top, hoo-ray! 98EXL's reply was right on target, thank you.

This is a really good point, I did not know this and will definately keep this in mind in the future, thanks!

I've used Newegg for about 4 years or so for all of my computer needs and have never had a bad experience. This is not a bad experience, they handled it well and as their policy is "customer first", they truely stand by what they say and I will continue to use them as my primary hardware store. Very satisfied now, way to go Newegg.

Wow. All that venting, just to save $11, huh? I'm surprised your happy; the price difference you previously indicated was $16, but they're only crediting $11 for you.

What we are talking about here is called Price Protection.

Personally, I can understand both sides of this.

But looking at it through HIS eyses, if he would have bought it from Best Buy, and Best Buy dropped the price 29 days later, he could simply take his receipt and get the difference credited.

That's good service. I'm not saying NewEgg isn't, but in these cases Best Buy is better.

Other stores do the same thing.

Is it unreasonable to think/desire NewEgg to do what other resellers do? No. Is it required of them? No. Would it add to customer satisfaction? Of course.

So don't beat the guy up because he has issues with it. If no one ever mentions it, then NewEgg will never consider changing the policy.

He's not really ranting. He's just saying "Hey, look what happened to me".

Personally, I'd like to see ALL resellers provide at least 3 days price protection.

-Larry

This happens literately EVERY time I order something. *Shrugs* Prices goes down or up on daily basis so gotta deal with it.

Word of advice once you buy the product.. dont look at the same product a week later unless it's for somebody else.

"I am mad at newegg." might not be ranting. "This is crap." sounds like a rant to me.

If this happened to me, I wouldn't bother even making a post about it.

Changing policy? That's between NewEgg and the customer. Why air the laundry here?

i know that pretty much everyone in the world has replied to this topic, but id like to give my two cents, because i had a similar experience. i ordered the zalman cnps-7700 or whatever, and the next day it went on sale for 10 dollars cheaper. i called in and they discounted the price on that and another item that had gone onsale. i dont know if they decided not to do this anymore (this was the beginning of june) or maybe it was the way that i went about doing it. anyway, glad to hear that you got your money back.

Yes it does suck, but you can't blame Newegg for that. Grow up man.
