Love your socket 754?

okay that is great to know about the cache.. (i do play video games). Now what kind of OC would you expect out of this venice 3000+ chip with the above stated parts? I know noone knows but if you had to guess, atleast 2.6-2.7?

thinking of the big typhoon, not too expensive yet supposedly pretty good. Are there better options out there for similar prices?

I'll probably be putting this sempy up for sale soon, cody.

My Newark is on the way :D

a 3400 actually. 200 shipped on the fs/ft forum. I'd like to get at least 2800 out of it. I'll probably ask 50 for my sempy.

Post your results here, as well the Revision E overclock database, please. :)

got it this morning
AMN3400BKX5BU
CABHE0512XPCW

I'll get it in and put the screws to it over the next few days.

rofl.
Screwy mobiles always boot at lowest possible speed and voltage.

Give me some time. The previous user said it would do 2640 at default Vcore under air. I think he was mobo/HTT limited.

Which cpu driver should I install, if any? The mobile or regular?

ohh im folding 24/7 for tsue with my 3ghz p4. my venice isnt up since im waiting for my Abit mobo, but rest assured, when they arrives, it will fold for tsue as well.

i had a DFI. we did not get along. so abit is my new choice. i have 3.55v, and for ram tweaking, i can use A64 tweaker, and i can will have all sorts of ram to play with on it.

the list goes :

2x512mb of Ballistix, -5b D
4x512mb of G.Skill LE, 437 TCCD
2x512mb of OCZ Gold GX, BH-UTT
2x512mb of Mushkin Redlines, CH-UTT

needless to say im all antsy. and my chipset is to stay nice and cool. thanks for my Heatpipe cooler :D

I wouldn't mind 2x1024mb sticks to play with, by play I mean just pop them in and put tightest timings I can.. because I'm too lazy to tweak memory.

why buy a DFI if you dont wanna tweak ram! thats why people buy that board! :D
Actuall my RAM is somewhat tweaked.. tighened the timings a bit with A64 Tweaker a while ago.. I should update my sig...

I also got it incase I need SLi in the future...

check under your Northbridge, there is lots of epoxy over the place you need to pencil in. i traded my ultra-d for an AN8-SLI, so if i go sli, i dont hafta void my warrentee to get SLI

It doesn't seem to want to prime at 2600 at default, so I'm small-FFT-ing at 2530 and see if she lasts overnight.

Funny thing though, when it crashes, it won't automatically repost...even with the reset button. I have to hold down the power button to shut it down, and then bring it back up.....same thing when I change the mem timings. The sempy didn't do that. It's probably a mobile chip thing....my mobile Barton did funny stuff like that above a certain multiplier.

cpuz is listing Vcore as 1.33, although bios reads 1.35. Scotty! We need more power!

Rest assured, she's probably getting al 1.35v. Hell, this DFI reads my 1.35v as 1.31v. Once I figure out where to test with a multimeter I will, as that's the only real way to tell how much voltage you're giving your processor. Buy yourself a decent multimeter if you don't already have one, it'll come in handy at some point if not already.

Been eyeballing this quick upgrade from NewEgg:

ASUS K8N-E Socket 754 NVIDIA nForce3 250Gb $70
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 800MHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache $139

Question is I currently have a P4 3.0c @ 3.5ghz 234.5 FSB (938 quad), 1GB mem @ 234.5 (469 DDR) CAS 2-5-3-3, Abit AI7 and ATI X800 XT PE AGP.

I'm I gaining anything with this upgrade? Don't wanna go PCI-e just yet as I like the AGP vid card that I have (also don't want to spend the xtra $$).

Any thoughts from the socket 754 gurus?

I could use this to upgrade my daughters PC which is an AMD XP 2500+ @ 3200+ (2.0 Ghz), 512 mb 400 DDR mem, Abit NF2 mobo, GF4 4400 64mb AGP, but wanted to see if anyone thought I would get any benefit from the purchase (she could get my P4 system sans vid card)....

Lantano, I dont think you'd see much change. Save your money for the new socket.
But me on the other hand, my xp@2300mhz needs to go. So I ordered this tonight...

Oh I've got one, but I don't trust my self poking around the mobo with it. I need a surgical clamp to reset the bios as it is! (it's just to the left of the NB sink)

It passed almost 9hrs at small FFT, 2447MHz overnight. Time for some more.

Thanks for the reply..... anyone else care to weigh in with their thoughts?

i saw go for it, id love to see you get it. also, why is shipping soo much? are you doing like 1 day shipping??

sweet someone orderd a venice :p

The shipping is alot prob cuz he lives in Alaska my guess

For like $170, I can get an NForce3 250GB MSI board that'd overclock well with a retail 3000+...which means I might build one in a few months for a dedicated folder. :p 754 is definately the pinnacle of price/performance, I love it. Too bad the Venice revision addeda bout $40 to the price, but meh, once we see where it tops out it should be fun. :)

Speaking of folding, I command you to all follow these instructions!

Hrrumph.
I had to raise the Vcore to 1.45 to get prime stable (4hrs) at 2614. That's over 100MHz less than what the previous user said he got at default voltage on a LanParty NF3 (assuming he prime tested). It can't be my cooling, so I guess I'll chalk up the difference to the nf3 being better sorted out than 4, and/or better power regulation on the lanparty over my infinity.

Yeah, I live in Alaska. Shipping has always been a bitch. The post office is so much cheaper, but most places only ship fedex or ups and when they do, you have to get 2 day air and it always is way jacked up. Newegg has always been bad about shipping rates to alaska, but I couldn't find a venice anywhere else that charged less for shipping. Oh well. I can't wait though.

On another note, maybe Ozzi or BitchBreaker can answer a question on where I can find an evaporator assembly for a phase unit. I know chilly1 has em, and you can order baker blocks on a website, but any other options? Also, chilly charges $110, does he include the braded suction hose and the clamshell? I know baker charges extra.

Bitchbreaker can answet that one. afaik BB does lots of Phase stuff, were as ozzis most extreme is putting his rad ou the window.

Chilly1's evap is the best u get man,the suction hose on a normal single stage isent braided nor does it need to be,u wont be running a high pressure gas in the unit so the normal stainless flex line he has is the best option, and no, for $110 u get a evap and mounting kit with some foam, the only other option is a PCC ICE evap, i havent tested 1 yet but they look ok,still..chilly's evap's are best :)

hey BitchBreaker, how goes the high HTT clocking?? also, im guessing PC ICEs stuff is really good, as he has made some REALLY good Phase Change coolers, like the one he made for Dumo/Cent.

Cool guys. Where can you get PC Ice evaps? The phase setup is a month off at least, but I will put my new venice 754 under my w/c as soon as I get it. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
