Love your socket 754?

happened back in may, ala newark :D

tsue, maybe you're thinking of powernow?

Yes, PowerNow was it! And yeah, the San Diego core has been on 754 for awhile, but the only one worth a damn was the 3700+ which was an expensive little part.

Im having some issues tonight,i can get my MT-40 to 3ghz in bios and boot but i dont think it likes it to much, gona have to check my cooling again and do some mroe test but i think* on a mild pelt she will love 3ghz 24/7

ok got a stable run, still testing.

DFI UT Nf3 250gb ;) ram is up in the air atm,i have bh-5,bh-6,tccd,tcc5,VX and some no name's im gona try for high fsb/ram right now with a 512 stick of TCCD

I had 330 the other day here. I validated it can't find where I saved the link. Maybe I'll give it another go during christmas break.

Ok. Its on. After I finish my finals, I am going to try to max this baby out at 325. If I get beat, I get beat, it was never meant to be.

;)

ID LIKE TO SEE US AT 400+ AFTER XMAS :) come on guys get out the big gun's

Well excuse me, some of us don't have motherboards that are capable of complying with that request.

:p

Im sorry guy's :( newegg has these dfi's for under $100 all the time and most forum's have them used for $60 or less,i own 2 and i love them both :)

I think it's the processor over the motherboard in socket 754 that'll stop your HTT. Look at the peak HTT on my clawhammer, for example. It had no more room in it, but I almost guarantee if I had a Revision E sempr0n or a Turion/Newark I woulda been 400+.

Damn you Epox! Anyways, finals are done, so you know what that means. Overclocking and beer. :D

Since I stand to get a sizeable reimbursement check for my trip, my favorite person might get me a few extra computer toys this Christmas. Namely, a NF4 motherboard and a 6800gs! ;)

I am such a n00b that I don't even know my own hardware. I always thought that 325 was the max I could go with this Epox. Apparently, the bios allows all the way up to 400. However it didn't matter much anyways. Since I don't have half steps for LDT multi, the lowest I could go was 3. I tried 2, but it was a no go. With a LDT of 3 I was only able to get 335. Still, I leap frog a couple of people. :p

well, im brand new to posting in these forums, but ive been lurking around reading them for a while and finally decided to get in and post something. so i thought what better than to post about my socket 754 system. as for HTT speed im sitting at 363 as my max, it would be nice to be able to lower my multi so i can go higher, but thats the price i pay for going with a sempron. anyways, heres the link http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=44111 . the system is a sempron64 on a dfi lanparty 250gb with a gig of ozc platinum rev. 2

i run it at 2720 mhz 24/7 but do most of my benching at 2800mhz as that 2904mhz isnt the most stable as im only using a zalman 7000cu to keep things cool.

here is a shot of it prime stable at 2720mhz. keep in mind thats with my old ram that wasnt the most overclockable stuff, i now run it at 272mhz with 3-3-3-8 timings @ 2T using the 166 divider, yeah i know the timings suck but i cant for the life of me tighten them up.

That's a great chip. Mine needed lots more voltage and watercooling to get to 2600.

is a LBBWE week 32 of 05. ive been very happy with it as it was my upgrade from a stubborn unlocked barton 2500+ that wouldnt go past 2400mhz. if you were wondering about temps, according to smart guardian i idle at 28-30C, and full load is about 45C.

Thought this might be the best place to ask. So I am thinking about DFI nf3 - 250gb, stick of the ddr500 g.skill ram (1 gb) (eclipse is always marketing the 2x1 gig set so i assume one stick would run just as well). a big typhoon, but my question is what s754 processor ?(if my other parts are not good choices please let me know). I want the best bang for my buck. I will be OC'ing, need it to be significantly better than current PC (look in sig) or else i will jsut save my cash and use it to buy books for college.... or beer :D (i am 21 it is okay). That sempron 2800+ (64bit) looks mighty appealing also the 2600+ (64bit), whats anyones thoughts. Better options out there? I want a good OC, basically a cheap fast PC. Will be using my current vid card (a little old but still works) and got an enermax 420watt noisetaker, so i should be good there. Now about this cache, will i notice nything with it being very low?? I also saw the new venice 3000 s754 is out, though it is more money. Help, What CPU should i get? or is this not a good use of my money and there will be no benefits to upgrading. Thanks for any info. Sorry i am a little skattered.... i have been studying for my genetics final tomorrow and ahve got lots of stuff on the mind.

with turion you gotta either mod the hsf retention bracket or get a hsf that mounts with springs, or run water/phase.

so my vote goes for Venice.

also, can someone explain to me how the term Vini was brought about?

BitchBreaker said:
yea i agree, 3000+ vini,or maby a turion? :p

It's Venice, not Vinnie/Vinni/Vini/The-V-Man/etc. It's already a short and appealing-sounding name, and Vinni takes the same amount of time to say. Claw for clawhammer since it's shorter...Winnie for Winchester because, again, it's shorter.

Calling the Venice core anything but Venice or Rev. E is one of my hella pet peeves. :p Why not call the Turion the Turri?

tsuehpsyde FTW!

now to bring back on old favorite.

considering he was lazy enough to say maby instead of maybe.. ;)

either way, newark (newy?) gets my vote :D

So it is worth spending the extra cash for the venice 3000+ over a sempron??? Those Sempron 64s are hella cheap <$100, while the venice is approx $140. Or are you just saying that so I can be a guinnie pig and test this new chip??

I'll always recommend the lowest Athlon64 over A Sempron, especially now that you can get the 3000+ in a Venice flavor instead of New Castle or Clawhammer. Plus, if you game at all the extra cache will help out alot.
