Love your socket 754?

I think folding on a k6-2/500mhz would be pointless?
I used to fold for TweakTown, on my Athlon XP 1800+ (1.91ghz) and that took ages to complete a WU...

Idunno, I have a 24/7 folder in my living room, weighing in at a whopping 750MHz of Pentium3 power. Even though it takes awhile, they're still points/units.

Full Folding Ahead!

Much faster than the K6-2...

But I think my 2.6ghz Opteron should do well :D

yup... that last 93mhz is hard to get.. i wonder how many people will be able to break my 433mhz record without putting some peanut butter on the chipset for insulation

Added into the list. Only need 2 more entries to at least get her filled up.

Full Folding Ahead!

Only 1 more to go! :) Even a stock speed would make it on the list, at least until someone with 205MHz came in and rocked your world. :p With this many members, getting our last one should be a piece of cake.

Full Folding Ahead!

ln2 is for the NB the cpu get's cooled by a 3 stage cascade ;) in my other life i was a v modder..so voltage wont be in any short supply :)

sempy 3400

2.0 ghz with 256k cache.

Newcastle 3400 2.4 ghz with 512k cache

Why the same "performance" rating? Does SSE3 really make up for it?

I've seen benchmarks where the 3400NC slightly outperforms a 3500 winchester (albeit, THG's CPU comparison charts, gaming, media encoding).

Is AMD fudging performance ratings on their slightly more recent chips?

AFAIK, AMD has a separate rating system for Semprons....they rate them to match Celerons. The 3400 rating for that sempron is 'generous'.

So is shentech the only place to get newarks? I'm still waiting for that $260 entry fee on that 3700 to drop or (better yet) slower *and* cheaper versions to surface.

Is the 3700 end of story for newark? Is it Turion from now on?

I thought there was going to be a 4000+ Newark that's 2.6ghz w 1mb cache?

(stupid epox not support mobiles)

/Off topic
Maybe someone can answer this for me: Where did all the .8T single sided Crucial 512mb PC3200 dimms go? I was going to order one from newegg, then discovered they were out of stock and now have completely disappeared from their listings.

well, its kinda falling into the path that Me and Ozzitron have found. we both got sticks of Ballistix that were dual sided. they contained -5b G. i think -5b D might be on its way out, maybe a new IC is on the horizon?

I have had this for a while.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I'll be ponying up for a real chip :D

Yeah, but they do run warm with the retail cooling. I found out that my overclock isn't exactly stable, had an unexpected crash today. Ran Prime95 and it crapped out within a few minutes with temps in the high 50s. Probably because I turned the heater on in my apartment so it doesn't feel like I'm living in an icebox. :D

Freezer 64 Pro, here I come!

/edit

Found a refurbed stick of the memory at the Egg. Might try to snag it.

are you looking for silence?? or a cheap cooler. cause if you can cope with some noise, an xp120 and panaflo m1a or whatever the meduim speed fan is makes a DAMN good cooling team.

I kinda like the freezer 64 pro. I like the way its oriented on my board. The fan will blow the hot air directly towards my rear chassis fan.

Looking for cheap performance mostly. Not too concerned with noise.

Man my 3400 is still going strong! I've been playing almost every game maxed out for a whole year :D ( FEAR excluded  )

the 3700+'s arent too bad, you get like a free 80gig hard drive with them now.

Well, they were an awesome deal when they were $159 from ewiz... Nooooooo I didnt jump on it (damn bills, mortgage, etc)... Now they're $235 and I think the combo's are gone..

My fault entirely, I just wish I could find another 3200 or 3400 NC somewhere (new).

i hear ya, i wish i was still on s754 not dicking around with all this shit ive had to put up with on s939.

I don't think I can be in the 754 club any longer :( check my sig...I sold my cpu today.

Wanted to go with a 7800gt....and I want to use the 939 motherboard I won in a contest, so I ordered a 3000+ venice E6.

it happens to the best of us. just tell me your using a DFI mobo. or an Abit.

no, not yet. I'll be using a Foxconn board for a while. The one that was just reviewed on the front page. I won it, and 2 7800gt's in a contest through slizone.com. I sold the gt's for $340 each, and purchased another gt on newegg for 305 (actually 285 after 20 MIR). I also picked up a new case, monitor, mouse, and some games.

Eventually, I'd like to get another DFI. I had the Lanparty NF3 250GB and it was an amazing board. I never had any problems with it, and it ran my 2800 newcastle @ 2.5 with value ram.

I really love my 754 3200+ @ 2.65 ghz but I have been thinking of using some extra money I have coming to go A64 X2 3800+ and get XFX 7800 GT SLI. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Do you guys think I should OC mine? I used to leave mine at 2.4ghz but then it started crashing, so I just left it stock for almost a year lol

I gave my friend a s754 system a lil while back with a Aquarius II watercooling unit in it. IT has a AMD 64 3000+ in it, and he wants more speed but doesn't want an all out upgrade, so he wants to put a 3700+ s754 in it, and does the Soyo CK8 Dragon Plus support it?

On Soyo's website, it says that it has max support for 3400+, but I see no reason why a 3700+ wouldn't run in it. Is it just an outdated compatibility list?

Has he tried to OC the 3000+ ?

start ocing that badboy! me and ozzi will walk you though.

I know how to OC ( I once had the one of the fastest XP2500-M @ 2.85ghz on air ) but it seems that this CPU just doesn't want to overclock. I donno what the problem is, but it'll freeze up/crash when its OCed past stock. You can give me some tips though, I wouldn't mind a refresh...its been a while lol

I gave him the system, and it wouldn't OC more then 2.1 ghz when I had it, and it was horribly unstable at that. Weird considering I put Kingston Hyper-X pc 3200 low latency ram in there.

I assume if he put higher rated ram in there it would fair alot better. If I went to 133-166, I could get close to getting my ram back to 200, but it refused to boot at 200. I assume it was because there is no pci bus lock on it. It wouldn't even like fail to post like error messages or anything, it would just actually have some kind of message about the CPU saying it refuses to boot.

That and he isn't to computer savvy, he is one of those Xbox gamers who is completely new to computer gaming. I think he just wants to throw a new cpu in there and get the most out of it. It makes sense considering I think his X850 XT PE I put in there is being bottlenecked.
