for most things, whichever has the higher mhz. there will be some cases where a slower, but larger endowed chip performs better :p
(which may be often enough to justify getting the slower, large chip, depending on the speed difference)

ok well what would you recommend for $300 CPU/MOBO...for graphics applications , occasional virtual adult games, but mostly loading 500 mb files in photoshop while coding in dreamweaver while coding in flash while reading hardforum?

and the dfi + dtr combo is a nice one. really nice one :D
 
ram nope but it would be nice to use DDR2, i heard it really SHREDS...i wouldn't mind a link to the ram, not much i can do in return, except join your club, maybe create a nice signature with some busty broads in it...
 
so this clawhammer that you're recommending is better than the newcastle you posted before? also...is there an advantage to dual channel ddr? maybe u can explain...
 
the clawhammer will overclock better, around 2.7ghz usually, with ease. thats why i reccommmended it. mobile chips overclock better then desktops.

edit: and it has more cache, 1mb vs 512k, meaning apps will seem smoother. and it will allow for both video watching and doing otehr stuff at the same time

runs a bit cooler, and usually oc's more easily

dual channel is good for about 5% more performance. i don't think it's worth the cost, thus why i'm the president of s754 clue :D
 
oh i see...so 754 boards cannot have dual channel...but 939's can right...what are the other differences between the two?
 
thats pretty much it, except 939 costs more, and its only useful when run in dual channel. 754 DTRs are ocing like the super ocers over on 939, but for cheaper.
 
yea but...i don't really plan on overclocking, i mean i don't want to void the warranty, and i like having a really 'cool running' system without having to worry about heat at all...so would u still recommend a notebook PC and the DFI motherboard...if not, let me know what would be better

you can OC it if you feel you need more performance. overclocking at stock voltage won't bring up the heat noticably. it's mostly voltage bumps that do you in ;)
and even so, i would still stick with the DTR + DFI :D

edit: also, chill out. i won't allow random outbursts like that in my club :p

Go 939 if you can afford a venice, as they outperform almost anything out there, esp. when oced. It truly is the bang/buck master.

dual 754's here. Shuttle and a dfi. 3400's under $200, cant beat that.

I don't have Warcraft, so we could make an Oregon Trail Clan. Oregon Trail is awesome.
