Love your socket 754?

Hush, or I'll make you watch a TekWar marathon.

Besides, Star Trek didn't have many Conquistidors or Colonial Dictators. :p

How about the socket 478 tribe? Do they get left out in the cold?

Screw socket's, I'm in the Slot 1 club! Go P3 500!

Is it me, or does being a 754'r get tougher every day? Seems like there's always a little somethin' somethin' waiting for me in Veniceland... Help me hold off the urge!

Those greasy-ass 939-imitating bastards! They could have at least made their own style topic instead of stealing mine. I made the thread and we got it stickied ourselves, then it's "every socket for themselves".

Such noobs.

*lights flaming bag of poo outside of 939's building, rings the doorbell, and runs away*

doesn't surprise me.. now that we have a socket 939 club and two socket a's.. and it has kinda turned into a general discussion thread

we just need to answer s754 questions. alright, everyone instead of pming (cf) eclipse, jsut post here, that should get up 50 more ppd that we can answer in this thread.

good thinking. cleaning out my pm box every week is fun though :p :D

as a side note.. those of you with a dfi nf3, you can get cool and quiet working.. just set the VID and cpu multiplier, and cool & quiet mode to auto.
after you reboot saving the settings, kill the power to the computer, via unplugging or switch on the psu. this will set the voltage to where it should be upon boot. then in windows, if you have RMclock, or the AMD drivers install, cool and quiet should work :D

Did we ever test if the Newark works in the Neo with the newest BIOS? No? Lamer. :p

so, is that contest going to get off the ground or what?
I'm intrested in seeing what cores can run with super low voltage

I'll do it tomorrow if I remember, I'm busy setting up my Tiger Direct Cardboard Box computer for a CS: Source server.

I humbly beseech that I may be admitted into said s754 klub.

My new "best budget BF2 rig" arrives tomorrow, and will become one with the klub. :D

I was tweeking my overclock one last time befor my 1GB stick gets here and...

OMG, I just got my 512MB DDR 333 stick to do DDR400+!!!
CPUZ1.jpg

Yes, the timeings suck, but I didnt need to lower the divider(witch would have seriously underclocked the RAM)! :p

What does all this add up to? 2.5GHz pwnage!!!! :D
I think I may still have some headroom with the RAM to!

 I got my 333 to 211 2-2-2  I think alot of 333 hits 400 speeds...

Yea? Well whatever I have cant get past DDR 386.6 on stock timings
I just did some benchmarks and it turns out I'm better off back at 2.32GHz with stock timings :p

regaurdless of how my 1GB stick will overclock I'll still get a speed boost over my current RAM because I'll be able to runn at DDR 400 with stock (or better) timings

hey selector, where did you order that rev E. sempron?? just because its 90nm doesnt mean its rev E. and if you didnt know already, you can use cbid to enable 64bit usage on the rev E. ones.

Oh man 47 pages...

Join me in... I like my socket754... though everyone tells me I should not spend another DIME on the platform.

well, everyones wrong. this platforms just as their s939 platform, which they paid 100 bucks more for. Ohh yea, just put "Member of s754 Club" in your sig, and your in

Looking to join the s754 tribe. Found a mobile 3000 for 134 oem, looking for something to cool it with. Any suggestions?

you have come to the right place. those 130 DTR's oc like freaking champs. ohh yea, ill be hitting you up with a pm in like t-minus 2 seconds.

well see.... I can get a little crazy when thinking of potential upgrades...

I have a 3700+ clawhammer... that can BEARLY do 2.6ghz stable... but my ram is not so good... I bought into socket754 before 939 even came out... hehe... so at the time there just wasn't good 1gb ram sticks... (I must have 2gb at least, you see for 3d modeling and such...)

I have already upgraded from a 3000+ with 512k cache... and now I have my eye on a revE newark for some serious OC... and maybe some ballistix RAM... I hear ATI will be releasing a next gen AGP card... I swear it is a sign!

anyway you get the idea... socket754 is teh money sink!

s754 is a good place to put money in though. The 3700+ newark, which is what youll want will run you a pretty penny, 350 bucks or so i think. and some ballistix will run you a pretty penny, when you could get get crucial value ram 1 gig sticks, as they use the same chips, just arent speed binned to ddr500 speeds. and ocing ram on a64 means sooo little that its just not worth the money for expensive ram.

I ALREADY have crucial valueram sticks... but they are earlier then the D revision that is overclocking well... I did buy these more then a year ago. I know ram makes less of a difference... I mean I can do 3 3 3 8 timings up untill 230mhz.... unless I want to run my clawhammer at 2.6ghz then I have to back down with a divider to keep the ram under 220mhz because the chip gets less stable at higher clocks when I have to use a higher vdimm.

What I was thinking would be an interesting compromise to all this... would be to invest in a decent water cooling setup... it would give me something new to fiddle with (yay) and also allow me to work with the hardware I have for a few more mhz... and I can move much of the equipment over to a new machine in the future.

but then on that note I begin thinking... a newark on watercooling... hehehe... It's hard to stop!

You say the newark is a pretty penny... but what you are getting is basically a 4000+ san diego but overclocks better... on single channel... for only 350... it is not a bad deal.

The ballistix is not that expensive either really... but less value there...

After the newark I would be hitting the level of diminishing returns most certainly.

In the high end audo community it is not uncommon for someone to spend 10k or more on a single component. hehe... as far as obsessive male hobbies go I don't feel so guilty on socket754 when I consider the alternitives :)

yea, s754 is a good place to sink your money, you could sink it in to gambling, like i have. gambling actually helped me get more s754 money. :D i just got a 60 dollar mailin rebate, and am already planning what to buy with it thats for my s754 rig.

I suggest more and better ram for your system there if you are really planning on spending money on it...

I can't imagine having a high end system like these athlon64s and have less then 2gb of ram.

the other reason I was wanting that newark was because I was hoping the revE core would let me run 3gb at ddr400...

With this chip I can actually run 3gb with about 60ns latency is the best I can get...

I am hoping to have 3gb running well when I switch to XP64... (if only my SIIG controller card would come out with a 64bit driver... sigh...)

Where can I find all the popular user-made BIOS'es for the DFI NF3 250gb?

is the newark ever gona be like at newegg or something ?

yup you just gotta wait for the Clawhammer DTRs to sell off, then youll start seeing em show up more and more.

Yeah I just looked and its impossible to find any NF3 bios'es. All I can find are NF4 Ultra/SLI bios'es.
