Love your socket 754?

my chaintech shipped with the 9/22 bios or something, the one right after the 7/29 bios. i have a quick q myself, if you set the stuff to liek 9 and 1.5vcore will it stay there forever? or do you hafta do it everytime you boot. and as a sidenote on the chaintech, the 7/29 is known as the "3d bios" as all otehr bioses suck for geforce 6 series cards.

i think i might jump ship...does a claw 3000+ and a MSI K8N nforce3 sound good? Although CH-5 ram...arr...

Get the DFI board for chrissakes.

Seconded.
I love mine.
i figured you both would say that. ok i'll get the lanparty i already have my zalman this should keep me good until M2 right?

It's basically what I'm doing and it will work out just fine. M2 will be cool.

you could go with a chaintech vnf3-250, if you are on more of a budget.

that would have the same issue as the neo3.. ram voltage :p
yea but i can do multipliers. I want to keep it under 200 or at least close and the chaintech board would do it.

yea, but my ram is pretty much capped at 224mhz, voltage isn't going to help. it isn't that great, i'm sad...

Timings, timings, timings, my 754 friends.
damn i don't have low latency either. I can still do a nice overclock though. So help me push the button, claw and a chaintech...

In the end DDR2 will prevail. Until 2008... yes I believe 2008. Thats when DDR3 will overtake DDR2.

Nice, but what does it look like when we compare the percent cost increase to the percent performance improvement? Not so nice.
being who i am, i'm quite curious to see how the ddr2 ballistix does. if it helps, know that the corsair is based of micron chips. crucial = micron :p

trust me your gonna like it. those claws are fun chips, the 1mb of cache is a jewel, helps with multi tasking soo much.

Am I annoying? Of Course.

Now am i going to be amazed with the difference between this and my 2500+? wow this is dumb question.

Also the double-sided ram issue (512x2) should be an easy get around by adjusting the mhz.

Theres no issue with 2x512.

Yes, this system will kill your 2500+ in a good way.

the issue youll have is 3x512 or 3xdouble sided, and crucial makes a single sided 512mb dimm.

I, a fine member of the s754, am high legally........ I got my wisdoms removed at age 24, lol. My friends are making fun of me, most of them had theirs removed when they were like 15.

Anyways, back to bed!

when i get my 3rd double sided stick, i'll see if the revE s754 chips fix this. for now though, DS + DS + SS = :(

Damn, wish I had money for Single Sided DIMMs.
Or just some DDR600, so I can run 1:1.

1:1 is almost a non issue. I'm sure you know this already, but the more of a divide there is between HTT and memory speed, the higher your "Max Async Latency" will be. Keeping this below 8 is important, as the hit is almost equal to running 2T.

1:1 just sounds and looks better, plus having faster RAM is always nice...

C'mon, please don't me break out the "this is A64 not Intel, there's no FSB to run 1:1 to" lecture again. Please?

Listen to RB, he knows what he's talking about. :D

Who mentioned FSB?

Well running 1:1 isnt important. It's when you use big dividers, like 133 MEMCLK when you MIGHT see a latency hit, but probably wont be noticable.

What looks better, IMO and most other A64 users, are low timings. Not to mention the fact that low timings are more useful than memory megahertz.

Or just get low timings AND high clock rates and end up with really sick latency scores...:p

Anything that can do that ^^ and cost as little as it does is going to be really hard to upstage.

Hopefully by the time I'm looking at M2, DDR2 will be several steps faster and substantially cheaper. And the chip better be able to do something substantially better than an overclocked X2 4400+ can.
