Hey man, you dont have to apologize about anything. I really enjoy [H] and it also is the only place I come for news and advice. Somebody is always going to differ in opinion no matter what. Ive felt lower than whale shit a few times for what I really thought was a righteous post. BUT WHO CARES. yeah, ive had a few run-ins with Alienware customer service. I think it could have worked out better but all in all Ive really been pleased with the machines I bought from them. i have a P4 2.4c that still lives on. again enjoy your new alienware. forget about the boos from the cheap seats. :D

Look at it as an intelligence test. Learn or become extinct.

Basically, learn to play well with others, even when they are pricks
and either have the authorities deal with members that get out of hand,
or learn to disagree within the rules and take any stray abuse without crossing the line yourself.
 
I'm not going to read past the first page, I know the rest is probably rude flames too mixed in with a few nice people posting comments.

But my thoughts:

Good for you. That's one hell of a purchase and I personally wouldnt have recommended that at all. But whatever makes you happy. Its probably been sad before but you could have gotten a lot more for less. But that wouldnt come with one nice arranty on everything.

When it comes to company built PCs (mostly talking custom ones like Alienware, Voodoo etc) I think they are a massive waste of money. Yes they are the top built company PCs out there, but the deals on them are not so great. You could have easily gotten SLI and maybe even 2gigs of memory for that price.

I'll sum it all up: You spent way to much for what you got, but if it makes you happy all the power to you.

All the naysayers need to back off. Normally I would agree that an Alienware system tends to be a bit on the high side, but with the rebates the $300 or so more than a DIY is worth it if 1) Financing means you get the system now and 2) you do not have the time to DIY. I personally have a Auroa 7500 waiting to be put together and went with Alienware because with rebates it was only about 350 more than it would have cost me to build my own and between a wife, kid, working full time and trying to finish up my Masters I like the knowledge that I will be able to spend my freetime actually playing games on the comp and not putting it together.
 
I can understand that you didn't want to build and wanted financing here. Well, you could just as easily have gone with Monarch Computer and had a more powerful machine for much less. Observe.

What a flaming thread crap. Someone pointed out the "Shopping around" idea around post #3 or so :rolleyes: He has already stated in previous posts that HE KNOWS but decided to get what he did. Maybe you should keep your fingers off the keyboard next time instead of tryin' to shit on someone.
 
Yeah half there cases are gawdy(sp?) and then half of them or pretty freaking sweet, sadly I doubt I could afford them if they did sell them individually.

Alienware's are weird. When your just getting into computer they seem to be the end all of be all. But once you get deep everyone flames you for owning one. :p

they're good pc's its just that everyone who generally doesnt know that much about computers owns one so if you do know alot you dont want people to think you dont because you own an alienware. heres another example, gay guys (i have nothing against them) tend to drive volkswagen golfs or beetles so if you dont want people to think your gay then DONT drive one

you will be very happy with that display, i had the pleasure of using one for about an hour the other day and it was nothing short of AMAZING!
 
Did you game on it? I just hope it will live up to the CRT performance that I am used to.
 
i played counterstrike source on it and it looked perfect! i also did some basic internet surfing and word processing and text looks really sharp and clear on it. my 17" LCD feels so tiny after using this monster

I'd like to see the Alienware machine benched (just 3DMark2001SE and 05 would be enough) and a comparison against someone else's machine of identical spec. The naysayers then need to factor in the time taken to get the scores eg, build time, OS install time, tweak time vs just plugging in an Alienware.

I think the AW stuff looks pretty cool (inside and out). If I had the money, I'd probably buy one AW, and just upgrade it as was required, as I have with my current rig (my last upgrade was a new 3.5" floppy drive because my old one broke down...the one that came with my first 286!)
