Under proper conditions, it can do really simple things like playback of MP3s just as well as your modern system -- excluding if you have a bunch of other things running at the same time or somesuch (the newer system obviously can handle more at once overall.) However, proper conditions means things like not overloading the living daylights out of it with unnecessary things. For example, use Windows 98 SE at the latest, anything like XP will just bog it down to a crawl. Get rid of any spyware/etc of course. Also, GeeXBoX is great because it burns to a bootable cd-rom and runs on a live linux session designed for maximum efficiency. It can play MP3s and other audio files, but, it's not exactly an optimal setup (it uses mplayer, which is great for videos, but, I would never use that for my audio player unless everything was broken.) Well, if all else fails, you can rig up a dos bootdisk using mpxplay to get you by for now.HDBox2d1 said:really?
well there is something wrong with my machine..
When i double click a 5 minute mp3.. winamp takes 40 seconds to appear and play the mp3. Wiamp should only takes 5 seconds or below to open.
All around slow/bad preformance.
Maybe its just b/c i'm comparing it to the rig in my sig?![]()
