I got a Jerker desk and I think it's alright. I'm going to give it to my sister and get this desk instead.

They're mounted in shadow boxes I got from AC Moore or Michael's (craft stores). The box frames are like 2 inches thick (deep) and they have a velvet background with 2 strips of really sticky double sided tape that keep them flat and secured.

I didnt know what else to do with my dead mobos and I figured that since this is my computer room, what better decorations.... :D

I also have a naked hard drive and a dead Audigy 2... hehe
 
These are the coolest desks, I'm defnitley ordering a few for my basement :)
 
WOOHOOO I have joined the jerker community

bought TWO from the new IKEA in bolingbrook last night, had a time getting them into my crx, ill take pics of the jerker with the tower shelf already setup, later. I also got the long flat table desk, its not setup yet.

Nice color on the walls. What color is it? I'm planning to paint my room "Myth" this weekend.

Edit: And what kind of paint did you use?
 
its one coat of police uniform blue, i had mixed at walmart, i dont remember the kind of paint.

i really need to do a second coat.

its actually alot darker, the flash lightens it up alot.
 
Hello, fellow Jerkers! I'm planning on getting the $99 Jerker (horizontal model, flat) and have a question regarding shipping. Are they still charging insane shipping fees for it? I live in South Jersey if that makes any kind of difference... if not, then I'd have to drive up to Philadelphia and purchase it there.

yes...i live in Eastern WA State and the only Ikea is in Seattle. They want to charge me $250 to deliver. CRAZINESS!

I am going to drive to Seattle to get mine...heh

yes it is insane to ship these things, im not sure about the 99$ desk but i know an employee at IKEA told me it would be about $230 JUST to ship the other desk PLUS weight, PLUS the cost of the desk to ship from there store, 5hours to my house

it is not cheap if you buy the desk and ship yourself through FEDEX, UPS, however DHL is much cheaper but still floating around $100 IF you can get the desk to a DHL drop off location, not a drop box location.

I even thought about renting a large car through Enterprise, and that is also around the same price to ship the desk.

I ended up shoving my desks into my Honda Crx, one out of the box and the $99 desk inside the box to make due with room, dont ask me how, I think i got lucky.

It is by far NOT a very good idea to ship these desks, anywhere.

I already started to place my order online. They e-mailed me today saying they were having technical difficulties with their ordering system, so I have to finish the process by phone. I'm actually getting my dad to call sometime this week since he is the one with the credit card. After he hears in the insane shipping fee, I'm hoping that is his motivation to drive me to the Philly IKEA store by the weekend. :D

But I have to ask you this... WHY do they charge so much? The desk I'm on now costed $129 with free shipping.

The desk I am on now weighs around that much. I remember bringing it into the house from the driveway and it was HEAVY! I actually found on some deals Web site that the Jerker had a free shipping special for three days in mid-January. If only I could turn back time... :(
 
I talked my dad into going to the Philadelphia IKEA store. :D He may be going sometime this week, so I can't wait! While I'm waiting, I was wondering if some users could re-post their Jerker setups. A lot of the pictures are expired due to bandwidth problems and some just don't exist anymore. Thanks! :D

and also, go to the ikea in bolingbrok, and the do diliver and assemble to their house,

ooh and pick up sweedish meatballs and cinnaman rolls while thare

thare goood
 
Jerkers look a little too college-dorm-ish for my tastes. Look very useful if you have a lot of equipment, though, with that extra shelf and the swivel monitor platforms you can get for this thing. Maybe if I had a basement or something......
 
well i know i loved it and a lot of us did for the DEPTH of the desk. i always owned a 20" or bigger CRT and well.. those dont play well with college dorm desks. but at least dorm desks were all larger than the crap they carry at office stores / furniture stores. so for me it was all about width and depth of desk cuz i got fed up EARLY and began using conference table type desks.

oh and it comes in different colors too.

i got mine from the ikea in bolingbrook, that place is huge!!!!!!! are they all like that?

and i got mine to fit INSIDE a crx, with two people both desks hung out the back till i got them back to the house, then took the jerker tower tesk out of the box, and layed the frontpassenger seat all the way down and put the longer desk all the way up in there, and then layed the pieces of the tower desk in there and it all fit. and then rode home 5hours south like that.

no pics but its basically 3" thick and 57" x 36"

just a plain very thin cardboard box

Duh... Anything with a horizontal surface get dust. Dark furniture show the dust more ;)
