iPhone 4 pre-order

im assuming this only works well for those who are upgrading a line and arent changing anything on that line.

Did you get the subsidized pricing? Or did you pay the straight up price?
 
Looks like the rumors about the availability of the white version were accurate. It's a shame — the thing's really grown on me.

Looks like I'll be waiting.

it was fully subsidized. keep in mind that i had previously gotten pretty far with the initial pre-order page but it timed out on me

Were you able to remove the additional item from the cart?

Shame I can't get pass the check for eligibility stage... I'm trying to do the "Existing > upgrade" option. I think this is ATT's database that's timing out.
 
Called my Apple store and they told me that my reserve guarantees me one on the 24th...up until 6PM. He also mentioned that I was the only person who had gotten one to go through for their store at the moment :p
 
Now AT&T's account system is totally down. I gave up on the iPhone and wanted to log in just to pay my bill!
 
I urge some of you guys to check your cart before trying to go through the process again, I just saw that there was a 32gb iPhone 4 in my cart ready to go, despite getting timed out on all of the sessions I had been through, so I finished up there, order placed at the correct price, printed, awaiting confirmation email.

Yeah, they'd rather take money from those of us locking ourselves in for 2 years instead of those of you on the way out lol.

I'm planning on the ol' "add a line" for the subsidized phone, then since it's pre-June 1, 2010 take the $175 ETF for the original line and still save about $125 or so.
 
Ok guys, I gave in and just duked it out in line for 1.5hrs to pre-order in person in an AT&T store.

They are doing everything by hand!!! All orders were filled out by hand and credit card pre-authorized via those old school carbon copy receipts!

Doesn't matter how you try to avoid issues, when it comes to highly anticipated anything, there is not getting around it. I'm not particularly wanting to get my hands on the iphone 4 by 6/24, I just dont want to wait 2 weeks after 6/24...

For those who are still trying, good luck... Going in person is still an option (last!)
 
Got mine reserved at the Royal Hawaiian store in Honolulu since I'll be on vacation there. Think I'll have to battle a big line even over there? There's 2 apple stores within 5 miles from what I can see there so maybe the locals will want to go to the other one.
 
Been trying for 2 hours to pre-order now. I just realized that I dont care that much about a phone. Done trying for now.

Glad you said something about checking your cart - there was a 16GB wifi IPad sitting in mine! Still trying to get through to get 2 phones ordered, but surely didn't need to get on eof those as well...
 
Did anyone who order from AT&T get an e-mail? I have an online receipt, but no email. Seems odd and makes me worried.

That's not a "real" pre-order though, is it? Just a reservation. If you can't get to the store on time for whatever reason, your place is lost, no?
 
I called a local AT&T store. They confirmed the website issue and suggested. Pre-order in store.

Yea, was wondering about this as well. I am fairly certain is does guarantee you a phone though that day which is really what mattered. I may regret this decision of getting it shipped from at&t if i go there and lines are wrapping through the mall.
 
I did get the email confirming my order from AT&T's online store right after I ordered it. About 7 am PST time....

It's the same "real" pre-order status as if you did it on Apple's site. They'll hold a phone for you until close of business on the 24th. Just like they did with iPads. If you don't pick it up on the 24th it goes back out for anyone to buy.
 
For those of you trying to make your reservation from a Mac try a browser other than Safari. I had no luck on my MBP with Safari, two tries from my pc with IE8 and I got through. Also the website was more responsive in IE8 than Safari 5... go figure.

That is likely to be the case. If you want it on the 24th and don't want to stand in any lines, just wait for things to cool down a bit so you can pre-order for delivery.

On the white model: according to an Apple rep, the white SKUs will be coming "soon". There is no ETA on these things.
 
Shipped is the best way unless you need it real early for some reason. I have a plane at 1pm on the 24th so I don't want to risk waiting on FedEx. I had my 3GS phones shipped and they got to me on launch day.

Plus...going to the store keeps me from looking at tracking information on the order and going nuts. :)
 
I ordered from AT&T but never got an e-mail confirmation. Just called them and they said that my order was indeed placed and that it looks good. Makes me a bit nervous.
 
Went into Best Buy, ordered mine, and walked out. Total time taken: 2 minutes. Pretty stress free (after trying all morning with Apple's website). I got last year's 3GS through them, so I figure it'll be probably as painless as last year.
 
The premier site thing is a blunder on AT&T's part. It won't work if you're upgrading from an iPhone and your 2 years isn't up.
I got an e-mail confirmation from Apple's reserve site and the Apple store I called confirmed that the reservation is 100% legit. No need to come in early, just show up by 6PM. I'm planning on coming in around 10'ish as the crowds should be gone by then and I'll have time to see if they have any decent accessories left.
 
If I go to the AT&T store and pre order. Can I have it shipped to my house as if I was ordering online?
 
I gave up with this preorder, I was right at the last step of the ATT confirmation page, and it timed out....Ill just go to my ATT store launch day, and hope for the best :/
