intel Z68 mATX and mini ITX thread

Okay this one has a PCIE x16. It doesn't suck anymore. :cool:

It's the current one i'm looking at. Apart from a lack of sata ports, its fine, and will at least allow some OCing :D

why doesn't the pcie x16 one have e-stata? :(

Well, maybe because of the dual lan using up the PCI headers or something similar? eSata is kind of being "replaced" by USB3, so it's probably not as high on their priorities. It's not exactly a mass adopted socket.
 
Well, it's been nice working with you, Zotac, but that POS vertical mini pcie slot is a dealbreaker. Guess H55 is the end of the line for us!

Yeah but estata doesn't need any cpu resources where usb does....that and I have a 4 bay external enclosure that's USB 2.0/estata :(

Oh well...I just need to find a way to add an estata port I guess.
 
Thou shalt avoid Gigabyte like the plague if overclocking.

o.0. For mITX, the only recent boards capable of any real OC with quad cores were Gigabyte's and DFI's (now discontinued) boards... admitedly, until we see Z68 or P67 mITX, we will not know of this generation's mITX OCability, yet.
 
why? I would've thought a board from Gigabyte targeted at enthusiasts will have respectable overclocking performance?

ive had both the gigabyte h55n-usb3 and the DFI p55 mi t36. and the h55n was a better overclocking board
 
I don't think comparison of two specific boards points toward bad overclocking for all Gigabyte mobos, that's just silly. Other Gigabyte boards are great for overclocking, but we can't know how good the new Z68 mobo is until it's tested. It may be a dud, it may be awesome, but this is a new gen and Z68 is the enthusiast chipset. H55 and H67 are mainstream, so those previous products may not have been intended for any serious overclocking - especially compared against the DFI.

Really, it was nice working with them? My G9300 was my first and last Zotac motherboard.

Don't be hatin' on a company's entire line of products because of one product that you didn't like.
I personally have the 9300ITX, and for it's time it was the best 775 ITX board out there, it had no competition.
Ofcourse it has a few glitches, namely no USB Wake support, glitchy fan control after S3, glitchy PCI-E PM after S3 and so on, but it is by no means a bad board...

Shop by model, features, and the known performance reviews. If you shop by brand name only you are liable to miss out on something good. Just my opinion on the topic.

im saying the h55n (which is a gigabyte board) is in my opinion a much better board than even the DFI p55 mi t36, the supposed "king" of ITX board
 
I'm hoping they announce a mitx board with a bit more pizzazz than that zotac - it be ugly.

I have both, the DFI board does OC better stock with a quad. None of them has the circuitry to handle high overclocks for a long time though. Also the DFI board "feels" nicer has a better audio codec and better ethernet.

Too bad DFI is out of this business as it was a great first effort
 
All these stupid overclocking boards and chips I buy; none of this OC I do... o.0

Oh, well. All I have had were a Zotac, ECS, and Gigabyte mITX sucker set for 1156. I'm still not gonna randomly spew Gigabyte as being crap :p
 
the gigabyte Z68MA-D2H was just posted for $100 shipped with EMCYTZT505 promo code. best part is no rebate to deal with

it's a decent board, HOWEVER.... only 6 stinkin USB ports on the back panel :(

I'm still waiting on the Max4GENE and it's 9 USB ports on the back (vain hopes :p).

FT03 isn't too USB friendly :D

I use up to six some times; my Nook, phone, wireless dongle, a number of memory sticks, and a keyboard. That doesn't count the Bluetooth receiver and the mouse dongle plugged into my keyboard or my printer.

one KB, one mouse, one monitor hub (hub is useless due to how monitor standby handles the power states, however, the SD card reader is very useful), one AT2020 mic, one NuForce uDAC2 (since the onboard DAC on the U2711 clips badly), one to keep on my ZuneHD dock, and I am out of useable ports on my P8H67-I Deluxe (setup in a FT03, lol...) :( :( I could remove the monitor USB hub, but I'd lose the SD card reader, which means my D3100 would have to use it's own USB connection. however, my monitor hub is occupied with charging my phone (uselessly, due to the monitor standby shutting down the USB prots), connecting to a WD Passport 1TB, and the side two are normally occupied with at least one flash drive and a cable for a Sony HD cam...


I didn't anticipate the consequences when I consolidated all of my old builds into one a couple months back ("relapse sale") :(


I honestly only need ONE more USB port on my P6H67-I Deluxe. Maybe LianLi's internal USB3 header breakout could work....given how the FT03 is setup :) (which it's rather stupidly setup. Why, why, why use the back I/O USB3 ports for the top, and only. external USB ports on the case, when the cursed panel is a mere 10cm away!? Seriously... an internal USB3 header connector with a breakoff that allows compat with USB2.0 (like 20pin ATX and 24pin ATX) would of been perfect. But nooooooo......
 
There aren't any other closer pictures. But unlike the giada MB, this has the CPU socket near the PCI-E slot. But that is not a big problem tbh, if you want to OC, you will be forced to use WC anyway. So there is enough room for H50/60/70 or the new Corsair WC that will be launched.
 
they probably took the entire set and moved it over to Taipei for Computex 2011 after CeBiT2011...
dunno, but I remember the H67 board, and just zooming in on the pic is enough.... if it helps, check anandtech, they ahve close up pics of all the boards in question.
