Intel Retail Edge 2006!

I need some advice...
I have a amd 64 venice 3200 oced to 2500mhz...and it runs beautifully.
would the 6300 be a worth upgrade? with the new combo i would have to spend money on new ram, considering its ddr2, or get a new motherboard that also accepts ddr. but i guess i could also sell off the old parts.

it will be a nice upgrade for sure, mostly because the E6300 is dual core

Do you guys think that it would be worth it for me to upgrade as well? I will most likely be carrying over the monitor, the video card, the sound card, the optical drives and the speakers from the sig below.

Would I notice a jump from Intel 520 to the new dual core?

My dad needs a new computer so I would give him the one I am using now.

The new Core 2 is dual core and more power efficient than your Athlon 64. If you have the money, it's a good deal, even for a HTPC or something. But if it doesn't really matter to you, I'm not sure it's a worthwhile upgrade. Also, your mobo may support dual core Athlon X2's, so you may be able to drop $150 on a 3800+ x2 and be dual core already. Your call I guess.

For people with concerns with reusing old RAM and AGP cards while getting most of the benefits of newer core technology, try out the AsRock Dual-VSTA board. Very cheap and probably a good in-between choice for people who don't upgrade very often.

Sigh....I wish Intel would make boards that can do stuff more than just run stably. Whats the fun in stability :/

i thought the fax thing could of been a scam so i sent the paystub w/o my social included and about 2 hours later i was confirmed..it really works...i was a skeptic.

Mine went from Backordered to Pending, it's not even showing up on my billing statement with Bank America any longer.

I'll shoot them a call to see what's up.

I ordered mine the day it opened (10/17), and it went from Backordered to Pending as well. However, there is no charge on my credit card yet. I believe last year they didn't charge me until it actually shipped. I hope it really doesn't take 6-8 weeks just because they wanna put a RC2 disc in it. I can download Vista myself -_-;;

Try faxing in the form. It only took a day and a half for me (Office Depot). Thanks again to all who posted it!

im not joking, today i faxed in my paystub to get verified, 5 minutes later i got the email with the code

I also got confirmed within an hour of faxing. But its been pending at packing/shipping for a couple days now.
Anyone have it shipped yet?

The order site now says 2-4 weeks instead of 6-8 weeks for shipping. That means it should ship by the end of November, at the latest

I have Emailed Intel twice now asking how i can be verified as i am currently in India and my last pay stub is from Aug 10th

I have yet to get a response, even if it was a screw you, your not qualified, i want something!

I was pwned...

Two weeks have already passed by so 6 to 8 minus 2 = 2 to 4.

Minor math error there... 6-2=4, and 8-2=6

thus 4-6 weeks not 2-4...

so something happend, but what?

Just noticed that, oops-a-daisy

Haven't slept in a while.

I got verified a day after faxing in my info, but now my bundle has been sitting in pending or whatever status for the last week.

Seriously, i am not impressed with Intel on their handling of this

I got verified last night (didn't fill out that fax form or anything) and ordered the bundle for $240 shipped

For those complaining about why it hasn't shipped, Intel sells these as bundles which means one SKU. Since Vista hasnt even been manufactured yet, it is impossible for them to send out the bundles..

I am as impatient as the next, but for many of us who don't upgrade that often, this upgrade involves a video card so I feel that having to wait is actually helping since i won't feel the need to overpay for an 8800GTX..

The bundle ships with Vista RC1... they will ship the retail version seperately when it's available.

I got mine ordered. I've been looking at the memory thats compatible with this board and apparently its extremely picky on what types of memory you use. I was curious on what type of memory all of you are going to get to go with this board. I was looking at getting 2 gigs but it doesn't seem the Corsair XMS stuff will work with this because of the voltage. Some have suggested that any of the ValueRams (Kingston or Corsair) would work as long as they are 1.8 volts. I would prefer DDR2 800 but I think we're extremely limited to whats available. Kingston has a 2gb kit DDR 800 for 325 bucks. I'm looking at the Corsair DDR2 667 2gb kit for 199 bucks. What do you all think?

26,200 chips. rank 39 WOOHOO. Hey Terry from Intel, Send me the E6800 instead of the E6300.

Thats why I get an ASUS mobo as soon as I can. Can't overclock an Intel board all that much

How did you get so many chips? If you have any codes or anything, could you send them to me?

I have been with retail edge since January. All Challenges are worth 1000 chips, articles 250 and so on. Not "1/2 price" for past challenges and articles. Also attended 3 live events over the past year. I have no "un-used" codes or anything. All codes have been applied.

Oh, and this chip count is lacking the "Intel Trading Cards" the were SUPPOSED to have been circulating around March thru July but never made it to Houston Best Buys from what I understand.

actually the mobo that ships with it comes with onboard video, and im sure you can get quite a deal on a 7000 series right about now. it may not be DX10 or 11 or whatever, but still good cards.

i also ordered my package over a week ago and it still hasnt shipped. ive got a lan party in 2 weeks and i need my bundle. im still using the bundle from 2 years ago with the p4 :(

Aww don't you like the prescott? mine does a great job of heating my entire house....

I really want this Proc just so i can reduce the heat production...

I just ordered mine, now the waiting game, lol.

I have an armor case, big typhoon, and nuuo waiting for it

called shop intel right now and they said that they will be getting a shipment of the processors and the motherboard this week and will be shipping those out with the beta vista. He said that I might not get it on that shipment because he doesnt know how many he will get. And if you dont get it from that allotment, expect yours in 2-4 weeks. I ordered on Oct 27.

From the sound of that, it does not seem like Intel is ready this year. It's November and the parts are back order already?
Anyway, I sent in my pay stub and still no word yet.

To second impronto's comments, just got this from someone at Intel's online shop -

"Thank you for your order.

The 2006 Purchase Program Kit is not currently in stock. Although the order page
said to allow 6-8 weeks for delivery, your order will probably ship out next
week.

We will be getting the stock in over multiple shipments, with orders going out
in the same order in which they were placed. "

I think thats all we can ask for..

mine went from pending to processing to backorder and now it's back at pending.

I ordered 10/24 and it says nothing about pending or backordered, etc.. Am I missing something?
